OLYMPIC TENNIS BOXING

Danish blonde Caroline Wozniacki just couldn't wait for her next opportunity after she knocked out Jelena Jankovic back in Indian Wells but wasn't impressed when she saw the Olympic draw against Daniela Hantuchova. The lanky Slovak defeated Ana Ivanovic before losing the ill-tempered duell with Maria Sharapova and now seeks a winning return at the fellow blonde's expense.

Hantuchova made some pre-Olympics headlines, featuring in the ESPN's Body Issue campaign which ignited a lot of jealousy from Wozniacki. "She's won like four tournaments in ten years and got a call from ESPN? Why they never called ME in first place?" Daniela has the answer for her Danish foe: "That's probably because you're always playing second fiddle, slut. Both on the tour and to Rory McIlroy. I'll show you exactly where you belong when I knock you out!"

Both girls enter the ring in national colors, Wozniacki wearing a red bikini top, white panties and red gloves. Blonde hair tied in a curly ponytail. Hantuchova wearing a navy blue bikini top, red panties and white gloves. Long dark blonde hair tied in almost hip-lenght ponytail. Even before the opening bell Wozniacki shoves the Slovak away and shadow-boxes in front of her as Hantuchova keeps her focus, but is piercing the fellow blonde with steely eyes. Judging by the body-language, this won't be a tactical affair, girls are poised to end this one with a big KO. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:
Hantuchova throws some early jabs, but despite the reach advantage she can't connect as Wozniacki is leaping around her before firing away herself. Well-placed hooks crash off the ribcage and the Dane ducks a wayward hook and piles in with more jabs to the midsection and Hantuchova is forced to step back in avoidance. Wozniacki rushes with more hooks to the head, much quicker in execution and efficiency; Daniela weaves around in avoidance but can't tame the lively opponent. She single-strikes to the body but only grazes the flesh while Caroline is landing all the big shots especially to the body. Aggressive display from the Dane, she's not usually showing it on the tennis court but it's a different story tonight. Many experts claim she's the best boxer among tennis players and Hantuchova is learning that reputation the hard way as she's bullied around the ring until the bell.

Round 2:
Caroline nods her head in approval during the interval, she's made a good impression, time to make some damage as well. Daniela steps up to her and throws punches to the head, but can't break the high-guard and gets laced in the ribcage moments later. Wozniacki works the high-tempo again, manages to go around the elbows and Daniela begins to wince quietly as her rival finds the target. Wayward hooks fly around Wozniacki's head and Daniela's playing second fiddle in the exchange; is forced to retreat again but Caroline's right after her with big hooks to the chest. Hantuchova is pushed to the ropes, her footowork not good enough to stay away from danger zone and Wozniacki piles in with more jabs to the ribcage and chest, flicks a cross hook and splits the Slovak's mitts before a solid left hook cleans out her cheek. One-way traffic along the ropes, Hantuchova covers up and allows Wozniacki to perform at will, repeated slaps to the body leave the Slovak cumbersome at the bell, but one feels Caroline hasn't kicked into the vicious gear just yet.

Round 3:
Hantuchova knows she's been second best on the night and tries to ignite some speed; comes out aggressively and jabs to the body, peppers the high-guard, looking to break through, but comes undone. Wozniacki leans on her, cracks another wide hook on the ribs.. and another one as Daniela moans in pain before getting laced with a big uppercut between the arms. Gut-checking display from the Dane as she pounds the Slovak in the middle of the ring and again, Daniela can't live with the action. Wozniacki nails her with couple of of hooks to the head and pushes back towards the ropes where Hantuchova only weaves around in avoidance as Caroline pauses for a while with her attacks, single-strikes to the body instead, yet still is able to overcome anything Hantuchova throws at her. Big jabs from the Slovak skim off the arms, she leaves her chest exposed and Wozniacki nails her on the spot; Daniela is left sore and breathless at the bell.

Round 4:
More aggression from Wozniacki, she weaves away from her long-limbed opponent, it's painfully fruitless performance from the Slovak and she gets punished with a low sequence to the stomach again. Caroline's execution leaves nothing to complain about and she continues to bully her foe around the ring. Hantuchova does't even bother to stay in close contact, seeks some respite along the ropes but the Dane just keeps chasing her and wear her out physically. Daniela's breathing heavier of the two just half way through the fourth and fails to avoid the vicious jabs catching her on a regular basis. Wozniacki's not a speed demon across the ring, but so isn't Daniela and the Slovak loses her footing late in the round, probably getting tired of all this harrassement and Caroline pins her to the ropes with another gutwrencher, cracks a left hook to the cheeks, follows up with another low right and Hantuchova sinks on her knees, bends forward and gets laced with a right hook on the eye snapping her back to the ropes. Wozniacki moves for the kill but the bell halts her mission as she's dragged away by the ref while Hantuchova can barely make it back to her stool.

Round 5:
Daniela nurses a swelling under her left eye and remains very subdued to start the fifth, sticks to the ropes, circles back and forth as Wozniacki checks both the physical and mental damage she's inflicted on the Slovak. It doesn't look good for Hantuchova and gets worse soon as Caroline leaps after her with more jabs to the chest and body. Daniela jumps to the side, but is too slow, gets laced in the boobs, another hook cleans out her ribcage and Wozniacki easily strands her helplessly on the ropes; drives low with her head but opens up from both flanks, peppers the ribs with little sympathy and Daniela just falls back, tries to cover up, but the Dane's vicious approach is taking it's toll. Arms go slightly numb on the Slovak and she takes a triple combo to the jugs, which finally rocks her forward and the knees give way for Daniela. Big right hook to the chest leaves the Slovak breathless and SHE CRASHES DOWN ON ALL FOURS looking very spent and beaten. Caroline shakes her glove in front of the fallen rival, but Daniela refuses to accept defeat. She scrambles back upright at six and wipes the sweat off her forehead. Wozniacki is bemused; leaps after her and continues to throw side slaps from each side, but for once she gets it wrong, misses the ribcage putaway and Hantuchova fights back, snaps Wozniacki's head with a double hooking combo, but the Dane leans on her and forces a clinch before throwing more low jabs to the midsection as Daniela looks relieved to force a stalemate as she closes her eyes and hangs on until the bell despite Caroline viciously jabbing her to the ribcage.

Round 6:
Wozniacki leaps off the stool and immediately moves on the wounded opponent. Daniela looks very tired now as she's taken a lot of punishment already and can't escape Caroline's jabs which come within seconds of the bell. Wozniacki peppers the ribcage and almost bends the Slovak in half, pushes her to the ropes and unloads more uppercuts between the arms, just hammering Daniela's rack at will and Hantuchova can't do anything about it. Wozniacki barks with every punch, she's got Daniela at her mercy and there isn't going to be much shown here. Hantuchova tries to wrap her arms around the Dane's neck but a couple of straight jabs on the bruised eye make her think otherwise and cover up instead. Caroline leans on the Slovak even more, cracks more jabs to the ribcage and breasts, Hantuchova just winces in pain, soaking up tremendous punishment and eventually she can't take it anymore. Series of blows to the guts SEND HER CRASHING DOWN ON THE SIDE as Wozniacki looks on and checks whether she's getting up again.. Daniela tries to rise, uses the ropes to scramble herself upright at nine, but the ref's seen enough and embraces her as she looks very bruised and sore indeed. The Danish foe truly punched her into exhaustion tonight... TKO R6 Caroline Wozniacki!!!

Post-fight:
Wozniacki flashes a massive smile and leaps around the ring, dwelling on the Wimbledon crowd's applause. That was a great performance from the Danish blonde and she looks like a real force among the tennis community. "I don't care whom they give me next. I've dispatched Jankovic and Hantuchova already and that's impressive enough for anyone!"

Hantuchova takes a long time to recover on her stool but finally admits she lost to a better girl on the night: "Yeah, Caroline can throw a punch alright. I just couldn't hurt her anywhere. But I'm OK, if she knocks out Sharapova in the future it will be even better. I have no regrets and still think I can show few girls how it's done in the ring. You haven't seen the last of me for sure."

Final result: Caroline Wozniacki def. Daniela Hantuchova TKO6.
