BEFORE:

"This is a big fight for me, sure," says Leelee. "Diaz is top ten in two weights. She's slick, quick, and experienced. I'm the underdog, no question. But, I, for one, am betting on ME."

"I've been in the welter top ten for AGES," says a sweetly smiling Cameron. "And I think it's about time I get a shot at the straps. So, after I deal with Leelee tonight, I'm going knocking on the champ's door. She owes me a rematch anyway. Let's kill two birds with one stone...and maybe I'll just take that six million off of Wiz's hands."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Uprising' by Muse, and that means another fighter who might get Mac going all 'Niagara Falls' is on her way down..."

McCarthy: "Over. Rated."

O'Dell: "...'The Polish Princess', Leelee Sobieski. And Leelee not interacting with Mac this time..."

McCarthy: "She KNOWS better..."

O'Dell: "All business on her way to the ring. Climbs in and gets helped off with the robe to reveal her usual black bikini..."

McCarthy: "And overrated body..."

O'Dell: "And the crowd popping now as 'Queen Of The Reich' by Queensryche pounds through the sound system, and here comes Cameron Diaz!"

McCarthy: "Diaz a REAL top ten fighter, not like the wannabes at Front Street, Torv excepted, of course..."

Tess: "If they had 'Citizen Kane' cued up back there, I might say something..."

McCarthy: "Keep 'em zipped, Walmart..."

O'Dell: "Well, Mac, Tess has picked the upset here, going with Leelee..."

McCarthy: "Sobieski has ZERO chance to win this fight unless she lands a lucky punch. I'd be surprised if she gets a ROUND off Diaz!"

O'Dell: "Let's find out. There's the bell for the first, and Leelee aggressive early, going to work behind that big piston left jab..."

McCarthy: "Don't call it..."

Tess: "The 'Front Street Jab', all Wiz's big girls have it..."

McCarthy: "It's. A. Jab. All. Fighters. Have. One!"

O'Dell: "And Leelee using hers to good effect. Landing it consistently and using it to set up some solid right hands. Diaz feeling those big rights, no question. That one bent the knees a little!"

Tess: "She's feeling the jabs, too. Despite Mac's protests, what makes Leelee's jab different from the jabs of some fighters is the power behind it. It doesn't just stop you, it'll move you back a step. And that's what it's doing to Diaz."

O'Dell: "Definitely got Cammy out of rhythm...and a right hand buckled Diaz's knees again!"

Tess: "Cameron jabbing right back, but she felt that one!"

O'Dell: "Steady pressure from Leelee to the bell."

Tess: "Shutout round, Sobieski. Good start for the Polish Princess."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Into the second now, and Sobieski right back after Diaz. Leelee advancing behind that big left jab, moving Diaz back with it, keeping her at bay, using it to set up right hands."

McCarthy: "Diaz needs to get something going in counter here. She can't just give ground and not let her hands go."

O'Dell: "Sobieski's got her out of rhythm, Mac. Not letting her get her feet set. Using that left hand to keep her off balance. Leelee lands another right hand. Diaz continues to retreat. Sobieski piling up points right now. Effective with both hands."

McCarthy: "Good counter there by Cammie D! Nice right hand over the left glove. Diaz starting to get some timing down now."

O'Dell: "That she is, Mac. Using those fast hands to land for points. Good left from Leelee, Diaz with a right-left in response. Both ladies scoring with both hands in that flurry."

Tess: "Diaz adjusting nicely late in this round. Finding the range in counter for the first time."

O'Dell: "And there's the bell ending the second. Sobieski's round, I think..."

McCarthy: "That's right, Jenny. She built up the lead early. Diaz scored late, but not enough to steal it."

Tess: "20-18 Sobieski through two."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "We're into the third now, and Cammie D getting off first early. Landing a solid combination that stopped Sobieski in her tracks. Diaz slips right, sets, lands a double-tap left and a right hook as Leelee moves forward."

McCarthy: "Cammie D's got that rhythm going now. Getting to a spot where she can punch, waiting for Leelee, then lighting her up with those fast hands."

O'Dell: "Diaz getting the distances she wants. Pre-empting Sobieski from long range..."

McCarthy: "Picking her apart. Got her thrown over completely to the defensive. This is vintage Cammie D. She's all OVER this girl."

O'Dell: "Sobieski looking a bit flummoxed. Can't get off now. Diaz landing with both hands. Scoring in bunches. Landing a final three-punch at the bell."

McCarthy: "No doubt about THAT round. Diaz bell to bell."

Tess: "29-28 Leelee through three."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Into the fourth round now, and Diaz again setting up straight legged and using those fast hands to score points at distance. This is a little different Cammie D than we usually see, Mac..."

McCarthy: "Right, Jenny. She came in a little heavier for this one, fighting a pure welter like Leelee. Cam, of course, is more a hybrid like Theron. When she fights lights, she's a lot leggier. Tonight, against a bigger girl, she's relying on hand speed."

O'Dell: "Sobieski fires a nice one-two in response. Leelee not coming forward now. Willing to set up at a distance and do some shelling."

McCarthy: "Diaz firing right back with a flurry of her own. Some nice exchanges going on right now, Jenny!"

O'Dell: "Nice, crisp left-right from Leelee! Diaz a double tap on the left, Sobieski another solid one-two!"

McCarthy: "Neither woman giving ground. Both blondes finding the range."

O'Dell: "This is what a fight between top five welters is supposed to look like, folks. Sobieski another right hand off the jab! Diaz flurries back, and Leelee lands a pin-point combination at the bell!"

Tess: "What a great round!"

McCarthy: "Little staredown going on. Referee chasing the fighters back to their corners, but no mistaking the body language there..."

Tess: "Sobieski's round, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Close enough that I wouldn't want to rely on it, but I've got it for Leelee."

Tess: "39-37 for Sobieski through four."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Bell sounds for round five and the blondes back to work from the outside. Sobieski working the big left hand, Diaz countering over top with a right hand lead! Follows with a quick left-right!"

McCarthy: "Diaz straight legged. Moving to a spot, then getting off as Sobieski closes to within range."

Tess: "Choosing her ground carefully like Wellington at Waterloo..."

McCarthy: "AGAIN with the ABBA songs? Wasn't 'Mama Mia' enough for one night?"

Tess: "For those of you who have Mac thinks a famous Napoleonic battle is an ABBA song on your J-Mac bingo card, you know what to do..."

O'Dell: "Sobieski getting beaten to the punch again and again in this frame. Diaz anticipating, using that speed, getting off first almost every time."

McCarthy: "Befuddling Sobieski again, like she did in the third."

Tess: "Diaz can be absolutely surgical when she gets it going like this. Everything working. Every punch sets up another. This is impressive stuff."

O'Dell: "And Diaz still landing at the bell. No staredown this time as Leelee stalks back to her corner."

McCarthy: "Best round of the night for Cammie D."

Tess: "And she's narrowed Leelee's lead to one, 48-47 at the halfway point."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "The second half of our scheduled ten now underway and there's not much in it at the moment. Sobieski up a point on our cards and applying pressure at the moment, moving forward behind that left hand and forcing Diaz to give ground."

Tess: "This is what Leelee did effectively in the early going. Got Cammy D. going backward..."

O'Dell: "And she's doing it again here. The left finding the range, Diaz thrown over to the defense, being walked to the ropes..."

Tess: "RIGHT HAND, LEELEE!"

O'Dell: "And DOWN GOES DIAZ! A perfectly timed right from Sobieski! Leelee to a neutral corner. Referee counting. Diaz up at six, shaking it off...taking the mandatory..."

McCarthy: "Referee going to let it continue."

O'Dell: "And Leelee right after Diaz. Sobieski methodical, trapping Diaz along the ropes, banging away with that big left hand...RIGHT HOOK! And down goes Diaz again! Sobieski quickly back to her corner. Diaz almost immediately to her knees. Going to beat the count again. Up at seven. Taking the eight count. Referee again going to let it continue.

Tess: "And Sobieski all about making sure that continuation is a short one. Walking Diaz right back to the ropes and going to work, methodically applying the baseball bat!"

O'Dell: "Sobieski, pounding away heavy as Diaz covers up and tries to weather the storm. Good left...OVERHAND RIGHT AND DOWN GOES DIAZ AGAIN!"

Tess: "Leelee again back to her corner quickly. No three knockdown rule, so the referee is going to count...Diaz again to her knees quickly, and she's up again at seven..."

O'Dell: "Referee again gives Cammy the mandatory and waives Sobieski forward. Leelee bangs the left home, digs a right to the ribs...there's the bell. And what a round for Leelee Sobieski!"

McCarthy: "Caught Diaz a couple of lucky ones. But, this isn't over yet!"

Tess: "That round's a 10-8, though, and that means Sobieski's lead is now 58-55 through six."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Getting ready for the seventh and Diaz looking a bit worse for the wear. Sobieski's noticed and she's quickly going to work with that left hand looking to put the finishing touches...But Diaz not done yet! Cammie D a nice three-punch that got Leelee's attention! Sobieski a right hook, Diaz a snapping straight left. Toe to toe, punch for punch, the two big blondes having at it!"

McCarthy: "I TOLD you this isn't over. There's no quit in Diaz!"

O'Dell: "There most certainly is not! Cammie D. refusing to give ground now, standing right in front of Leelee and letting the hands go! The quick mitts of Diaz scoring, and Sobieski answering back with some big shots of her own..."

Tess: "Don't know if Diaz wants to keep trading with Leelee long term, but, short term she's making this work..."

O'Dell: "She most certainly is, Tess. Both ladies landing their share, but Cammie D. has stabilized this thing. Diaz also landing in greater numbers thanks to that hand speed. Sobieski's got the heavier shell, but Diaz loosing more of it."

McCarthy: "Got to give Cameron credit. She's every bit the champion rallying back from that disaster last round."

O'Dell: "And rally back she DOES, finishing with a flurry at the bell and another staredown ensues. Close one, ladies, but Diaz's round I think..."

McCarthy: "That's the way I saw it..."

Tess: "67-65 Sobieski through seven. This one has NOT disappointed."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "The bell sounds to begin the eighth, and Sobieski forward with a purpose, going to FORCE Cammie D to give ground. Diaz backed into the ropes, now in a high guard, and Leelee going to work downstairs. Diaz with a lightning combination in response!"

Tess: "Those hands of hers really ARE something..."

O'Dell: "Leelee digging body again, keeping the pressure on, looking to take something out of the older woman's legs, no doubt, AND DIAZ ANOTHER WICKED COMBINATION IN COUNTER!"

McCarthy: "Cameron rope-a-doping Sobieski, Jenny! She's willing to take the body shots in exchange for the counters. She's outsmarting this kid..."

Tess: "Well, Sobieski's hardly a 'kid', but Mac may have a point. Leelee's only been active in the FCBA for four years and she's only had 15 fights. Diaz has been around for a decade and has almost 70, so there's no question Cameron has the experience advantage."

O'Dell: "And she's making excellent use of it, carving out points with her counter punching. Leelee scoring as well, working the body with both hands, but it's Cammie D, fighting back in spots, who's going to steal this round despite the relentless pressure from Sobieski. Bell! End of eight and we've got a fight."

McCarthy: "76-75 Sobieski. And all the momentum on Diaz's side."

ROUND NINE:

O'Dell: "Into the ninth round now and Sobieski again looking to pressure. Diaz keeping the guard high, jabbing with, now tying up Leelee and banging in the clinch. Referee breaks and the two blondes back to work. Sobieski a nice one-two. Diaz counters with a nice combination, smothers the return fire, tying up Sobieski again..."

McCarthy: "More heady veteran stuff from Diaz. Tying up Sobieski and scoring to the body in the clinches. Leelee getting frustrated, trying to shove her way free. Cammie D shoves off and sticks a left home."

O'Dell: "Diaz again countering well this round. Leelee scoring with her left hand, but Diaz again smothers the assult, wrapping Sobieski around the head with her left arm and digging the right to the body. Referee again breaks and Diaz a quick left hand."

McCarthy: "Cameron controlling this round, Jenny. Sobieski out of rhythm. Can't put punches together. Diaz great defensively..."

O'Dell: "And using the clinch to her advantage as well. Final seconds ticking down in the ninth. Diaz jabbing away to the bell and her third straight victory."

Tess: "85 apiece, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Exactly, Walmart. It's all going to come down to round number ten if our cards are correct."

ROUND TEN:

O'Dell: "Couldn't have asked for a better main event, and we've still got one round to go. There's the bell for the tenth, and it's all going to come down to this. Sobieski again working forward behind that big left. Diaz giving ground, being worked back toward the ropes..."

McCarthy: "More rope-a-dope coming..."

O'Dell: "Diaz with the guard up and Leelee going to work downstairs, digging with both hands. Diaz jabbing back and Sobieski a BIG combination! Snapped back Diaz's head with the right hand."

Tess: "Diaz getting worked over pretty good here, Jenny..."

O'Dell: "Could be Cammie D's finally wearing down after nine rounds of taking heavy blows from Leelee. Diaz not nearly as busy as she was the last three rounds. Not putting punches together. Sobieski has gotten out the sledgehammer and she's going to work with it. Leelee banging that left home upstairs then digging the right to the ribs. Diaz missing high with a right hand, and Leelee a solid left hook."

McCarthy: "I can't believe Sobieski's going to steal this thing in the last round!"

O'Dell: "Leelee staying busy, working that left hand, lands a solid right to the head. Diaz a left-right, Leelee a combination in response...AND THERE'S THE BELL! It's over! And what a fight between two top five welters!"

Tess: "And there's the hug, Mac. Cammie has something to say in Leelee's ear. Sobieski smiling and answering back. Lot of mutual respect between two excellent fighters!"

McCarthy: "I agree with HALF of that statement..."

O'Dell: "Decision being announced. Unanimous. 95-94 in favor of 'The Polish Princess', Leelee Sobieski!"

Tess: "Huge win for Leelee. Huge."

McCarthy: "Lucky."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Leelee Sobieski, and, Leelee, you said coming in it was a big fight for you..."

Leelee: "Diaz is a champ. A pound-for-pound type. She's a great fighter. Tonight was a terrific opportunity for me to prove I belong with the elite welters. It wasn't easy, but I got it done."

Tess: "You and Cameron had a little conversation after the fight..."

Leelee(smiling): "She asked for a rematch. I told her I'd be more than happy to give her one, but she's got to clear it with the boss. On the other hand, if your PARTNER wants a fight, we can do it ANYtime. In fact, she can come up here right NOW..."

O'Dell: "Annnndddd that's all the time we have! Until the next time someone signs your committal papers, good night from The Asylum!"
