Before: Last time these two tangled it was a razor-thin, down-to-the-wire affair as Holly eked out a decision in an instant classic that saw fighters trading knockdowns in not one but two rounds. Nobody able to make a call either way, Vegas odds-makers post it 1:1 for the first time anyone can remember. Vaugier the leggier beauty, deadly at arms-length. Valance brawnier, most comfortable dashing in to knife-fighting range, then cutting back out before receipts.

Holly in black DOA bra & panties, blonde hair shower-wet in a fighting tousle, black gloves. Emmanuelle in sky-blue bikini with red and black zigzags on top and bottoms, white gloves, hair long and curly down her back.

R1: Rook versus knight here. Holly coming straight ahead, trying to use the jab suppressively. Emmanuelle all angles, lateral moves, side-slipping, cute on attack and defense as Holly just can’t find her and gets fed a steady diet of jabs. Towards the end of the round, she begins to mix things up, mixing the right cross and occasional hooks to compound the damage as she posts an impressive shutout.

R2: Holly still can’t figure out the geometry. Once again she gets fed a steady diet of jabs, Vaugier not throwing as many punches as most boxers, but the ones she does throw are landing for effect. Final minute, Emmanuelle comes inside again. This time Holly’s able to find her way to Vaugier’s body, avoids the shutout as Emmanuelle takes two in a row.

R3: Holly just seems to be flat out of the gate. Once again, Emmanuelle is able to rack up a shutout. Emmanuelle ‘s got herself into a nice, steady rhythm, jabs flowing into heavier hooks and uppercuts. Valance is being bullied by the lither fighter, she just can’t get comfortable out there. Vaugier worries her prey mid-ring bell-to-bell, Holly’s staggering back to her corner, down three rounds to love. During the break, her corner crew frantically tries to put her together. Head trainer Elle MacPherson is emphatic, “You did NOT come all this way to be blown out like this.”

R4: Holly starts to put the pieces together. She still doesn’t have an answer to Vaugier’s jab, but when the brunette comes inside, she’s making her work for it. Attrition is two-way this round, but Vaugier is still able to dictate the round, stepping out and working the jab when things get too hot.

R5: Once again, Emmanuelle comes out fast and for the first minute things look like a repeat of the previous round. As she comes inside again, Holly connects solidly with a pair of hooks to the body, and VAUGIER’S ROCKED! Holly’s able to force Emmanuelle to the ropes and imposes her will for the first time. Both fighters know how much the nimbler Vaugier is dependant on her legs, and Valance focuses on her body, doing everything she can to take them away from her. Emmanuelle shaky to her stool, the worse for wear from an extended exposure to Holly’s offense for the first time.

R6: If the last round slowed Emmanuelle up, it doesn’t show. She circles, sets things up with the jab, moves inside with something heavier, then pivots out before Valance can get off in return. Second minute, she stuns Holly with an uppercut, puts her totally on the defensive for the rest of the round. Valance has been absorbing an awful lot of leather through six, the best you can say is she’s showing the kind of chin that put Dani Fishel in the Hall of Fame. Vaugier exultant on her stool, ready to bring down the curtain next round.

R7: Emmanuelle’s ready to end this, comes out slugging. She batters her foe to the ropes, Holly digs in, she is not going out like this! Heavy, two-way slugging dominates the first two minutes. In the final minute, the unaccustomed heavy-handedness catches up with Vaugier, slows up and Valance is able to counter off the ropes, and bang her way back to center ring. Holly catches her with her guard down, and in the final seconds CONNECTS WITH AN UPPERCUT THAT SENDS EMMANUELLE TO THE CANVAS! The bell sounds before the ref can count her out, but this is a huge momentum shift, Vaugier was on the verge of a huge win there, as her corner is frantically trying to put her back together for the next round.

R8: Emmanuelle had a knockout in sight, now Holly slams the door in her face. She bodies her prey back into her corner and begins reducing Vaugier. Neither beauty as light on their feet as they were when they started , but Valance the brawnier vixen, stuffing right hands to body, as she records a shutout heading into the championship rounds.

R9: Are we watching the same fight here? Valance comes in on seek-and-destroy, once more bodying Vaugier into the ropes, stuffing right hands to the body until the ref stops the fight in the second minute. An impressive come-from-behind TKO9 for Holly Valance!

After: Two different fights here. Emmanuelle didn’t win a single minute after Holly’s surge in the 7th. An impressive first half goes by the wayside as Vaugier’s finesse is overshadowed by Valance’s sheer bloody-minded determination not to go down. A critical shift both in the fight and in the tour.
