BBU: LIONESS CLUB YEAR ONE ANNIVERSARY PART III

Christine Bleakley won two consecutive bouts for the first time in her career after she knocked out Andrea McLean and Micaela Schaefer recently and perhaps comes as a slight favorite against Natalie Gumede (Marti's Maulers) who showed a lot of promise despite losing to Helena Mattsson in her last fight and might be destined for a great BBU career. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Bleakley storms out of her stool and jabs to the midsection but Natalie keeps her low guard well, fends off the early onslaught and counters to the ribcage herself. Both girls throw some heavy leather but hold their ground and eventually circle away after unsuccessful attempts to make some in-roads. Bleakley single strikes to the head from mid-range but Natalie leaps around her with comfort, slaps the Irish girl on the arms, tries to nail her rack; crashes off the forearms and gets laced with a quick series of hooks on the temple. She leaps away after that exchange as Christine refuses to chase her down in the final seconds.

Round 2:
More high jabs from Christine keep her rival honest but Natalie's speed across the ring is sufficient enough to maintain the distance as Bleakley only grazes her on the arms and gloves, ducks few hooking attempts herself as Gumede looks to land some haymakers early and stun on her on the spot. Teasing tactics from Natalie who drops her arms and circles around the Irish brunette, forces her to come forward but Bleakley lacks speed and cuts the air with some jabs for most of the round, leaving the younger girl amused at the bell.

Round 3:
Duck and weave tactics from Gumede again; she hops around her rival, blocks off several jabbing efforts and only responds with single shots to the head. Christine gets laced with few of them on the cheeks but Natalie continues to hang back and leaps away, teases her opponent to attack as Bleakley opens up and nails her in the ribcage but gets stunned with a quick uppercut on the jaw shortly afterwards and Natalie switches into higher gear, pours in with a flurry of shots to the face, forces Christine to cover up, but gets pushed back to the ropes nonetherless as Gumede ignites some venom and bashes her to the body until the bell.

Round 4:
Christine leaps to her rival, looks to overturn that performance from the previous round and she nails Gumede on the chest, takes the breath out of her and smashes her on the cheeks with a double combo as Natalie ducks low, pepper the ribcage in response and both girls moan in pain now trading leather in the middle of the ring before Bleakley snaps her foe's head back with some accurate straight jabbing over the top and forces Gumede back. She tries to close her down but Natalie's speed and agility enable her to weave away from the Irish brunette for remainder of the round leaving the TV presenter angry at the bell.

Round 5:
More aggression from the Irish brunette as she jumps after Natalie, swings couple of hooks around the head but misses the target and gets tagged with a huge right hook on the breasts which nearly wobbles her to the side. Left uppercut follows and the Irish girl fails to raise her arms in time, gets nailed on the jaw clean again and DOWN GOES BLEAKLEY crashing hard on her backside!!! Big haymaker from Natalie who unloaded some real venom there but her opponent shrugs it off well anyway, gets up at seven and seeks revenge. She leaps after Natalie but rushes her approach and fails to match her footwork and Gumede strays back, counters from mid-range keeping the raging presenter at bay. Straight jabs target Christine's head and she gets tagged on the nose as Natalie splits her mitts, snaps her head back with another attack and Bleakley loses all her momentum, covers up and allows Gumede to land more low jabs to the ribs. She throws some high hooks to the head as well but can't break the Irish girl's guard anymore and settles for a clinch in the final seconds as Christine moans in pain, clearly feeling effects of that difficult round.

Round 6:
Gumede seemingly broke Bleakley's resilience with that knockdown and jumps after her again at the start of the sixth. Christine shows little aggression, hopes to bide some time along the ropes but gets bullied around the ring as Natalie swings with some venom, laces her to the body, sends more low jabs to the stomach, visibly wearing the hapless Irish girl out in the proccess. There are not really big shots from Natalie in that round though, the overall value of intensity hurts Bleakley anyway and she's on walking pace inside the final minute as Gumede pierces her gloves and bangs few jabs on the cheeks, snaps her head back, lumping up Chistine's face in the proccess and the Irish girl is really hurting at the bell, holds her tummy in visible discomfort as Natalie starts to work her over beyond acceptable level.

Round 7:
Bleakley continues to struggle; face busted up and the midsection reddened with Gumede's vicious leather. She tries to put some pressure on the younger rival with single strikes from mid-range but Natalie's too quick to allow her to take away the momentum, leaps away with ease and counters to the body, bruises Christine's ribcage even more, bangs shots to the chest and bends the aching brunette in half, strikes over the top, sinks Bleakley on her knees and the crowd truly witness a battering here with Gumede running riot. She pushes the moaning presenter back to the ropes, repeatedly nails her around the elbows and the helpless Christine can do nothing about it. She covers up her face but gets laced in the midsection instead as Natalie threatens to break her ribs as she pours in with more venom only to get stopped by the bell, but Bleakley is a battered mess anyway.

Round 8:
Gumede goes for the kill as her rival somehow manages to get up from her stool. She fakes some shots to the ribcage, moaning presenter can barely hold back the pain anymore but has no answer to a quick shift up high as Natalie nails her on the cheek with a left hook, throws a right on the temple and Christine wobbles on her feet. Another series to the ribs bend her in half and a right hook on the mouth follows, snaps her back again and she can't keep her balance anymore... DOWN GOES BLEAKLEY FLAT ON HER BACK... She's truly had enough for tonight, closes her eyes and makes no effort to beat the count... KO R8 Natalie Gumede!!!

Post-fight:
Natalie can land some vicious punch and she completely dismantled her Irish rival tonight especially in the second half of the fight. Christine showed some aggression early but couldn't match the level of intensity thrown at her later and took a real hammering. She won't enjoy looking at the mirror for the next few days as Natalie seemingly took extra pleasure with just busting her face and body up. "She's lucky she didn't try to get up after that second knockdown", a confident Gumede brags post-fight, "Because if she did, I'd punch her even harder and totally beat the stuffing out of her!"

Gumede is poised to make some headway among BBU lightweight while Bleakley continues to blow hot and cold. Her quest to win three straight fights took a dramatic U-turn and it looks like the Irish raven-haired presenter will remain trapped between the elite and the jobbers category for quite some time without much chance to join any of them for good. However that shouldn't prevent her from getting more opportunities in the upcoming months.
