There's no question both Gemma Merna and Cheryl Cole are ranked very high in the BBU glamour department but the more interesting thing before their match is that they simply hate each other's guts and will do everything to claim superiority tonight. Former flyweight champion Merna returned to action after a long inactivity period few days ago but got knocked out by Amelle Berrabah which spurred Cole into challenging the blonde actress straight away.

Cole seems to be smelling an easy prey, claims 'she'll bust Gemma up' during pre-fight interview with Denise van Outen but that could be a mistake as Merna is determined to end her woeful seven fight losing streak and announce herself as a top flyweight again. Beating the Geordie singer would be the first step of the recovery plan and most experts believe it's very much possible as Cole is well within the blonde's reach. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.

Merna wins the pre-fight cleavage contest but her impressive rack might become a target of the brunette's attacks very quickly and indeed, the Geordie singer just stares at her rival's cleavage, one must think she's not enjoying this view as much as the audience!

Round 1:
Cheryl looks to pounce on her rival quickly, she leaps towards the actress and bangs a series to the ribs but Gemma answers back, nails the brunette on the chest, flicks an uppercut to the chin and forces Cole back with a flurry of jabs to the body. Cheryl comes forward again though, laces the blonde under the elbows, whacks her in the rack as well, that target seems to be too much of a disturbance for the Geordie singer to ignore but Gemma straight jabs to the head, smacks the brunette on the mouth, lands more jabs to the liver area and that relieves Cheryl of her aggression; the singer ducks away into safety as Merna hassles her around the ring but can't reach her before the bell anymore.

Round 2:
Cole seeks more success; squares up to the blonde again, lands some jabs to the ribs but her defence gets exposed as Gemma nails her on the temple before narrowly missing an uppercut follow-up on the chin. Cheryl strikes over the top in response, laces her foe on the eye with a big right hook, whacks a series of jabs between the arms and unloads more shots to the ribcage afterwards. Sudden rage from the Geordie as Merna wobbles back, tries to respond but misses a hooking double and gets nailed on the rack again with a fierce hook as Cole pours in with more jabs to the head, splits the blonde's gloves, bangs her on the nose, throws a gutwrencher that bends Merna forward and leaves her moaning in pain. More jabs from the top catch her on the temple as Cheryl barks in anger looking for more damage. Merna wobbles on her feet, eats more leather on the head and one of the left hooks catches her on the eye; SENDS HER CRASHING DOWN ON THE CANVAS!!! Cheryl screams out in delight as Gemma scrambles herself back upright at six but the action remains the same after the command as the brunette piles in more punishment. She laces the blonde under the elbows, finds another uppercut to the jaw and Merna can't cover herself up properly, gets pummelled back to the ropes where Cole sinks her on the knees with more shots to the head and body but fails to finish her off before the bell and is visibly upset as she walks back to her stool. Awful round for Gemma instead; she's nursing a huge lump under the left eye already as the brunette singer nailed her repeatedly in that round and damaged the flesh badly.

Round 3:
Cheryl's on a mission but Merna tries to overturn that horrible previous round and squares up to the brunette, catches her on the temple with a high hook as a seemingly overconfident singer basically walked into that punch. More jabs from the blonde stagger her on the spot and Merna seeks further damage; bangs the stranded rival on the stomach, rocks her head with a cross-hooking combo, throws another jab on the chest and it's Cheryl's time to moan in pain as Gemma works her over in close distance. Single striking from the blonde nail the brunette on the body and push her back to the ropes where Merna bangs more jabs to the guts but Cole salvages a clinch and catches a much needed respite. Gemma is shoved away by the ref but comes straight at her foe with a hooking efforts to the head. Cheryl ducks away but forces another clinch as the blonde runs out of steam briefly and both girls finally settle for a stalemate in the closing seconds. Solid round for Merna in wake of that knockdown in the second and she hops back to her stool, feeling much better while the Geordie looks annoyed and just stares at her without much sympathy during the interval.

Round 4:
After some fireworks in the previous two rounds both girls take it easy in the fourth having experienced one another's leather sufficiently enough for the time being. Cheryl with a knockdown under her belt, shows more aggression, jumps around the blonde and throws more shots but doesn't fully commit in her attacks, wary of Merna's comeback in the third. Meanwhile the actress looks happy to keep it low-key and works some single jabs from mid-range to little effect but everyone in the Wembley Arena audience knows it's only a calm before the storm.

Round 5:
Here comes the storm as Cole leaps after her rival, nails her in the ribcage early, whacks a series of jabs to the rack as Gemma was too slow to react and allowed the brunette to close her down and pierce through her arms. She tries to respond with some hooks to the head but skims off the gloves as Cheryl pours in with tremendous intensity, bangs couple of straight jabs on the mouth, throws more leather to the ribcage and pushes teh actress back to the ropes. Gemma covers up, works single striking response from behind the guard but Cole bends her in half with a huge gutwrencher, strikes from the top, cleans out the blonde's temple and snaps her head back with more straight jabbing. Merna winces in pain as Cole lands more shots to the liver area and continues to rain punches on the hapless blonde's body, bounces off her rack repeatedly before losing some accuracy as she smells another knockdown with Merna moaning all along the onslaught. Cole runs out of breath in the final minute, wobbling Gemma avoids going down but her face has been bruised badly in wake of that one-sided punchfest and she slowly walks back to her stool after the bell. Cheryl breaths heavily herself, but Merna just couldn't take advantage of that fitness flaw, having experienced too much venom earlier and the round concluded with some faked attempts as Cole remains annoyed during the interval, she clearly wants to punish her opponent in convincing fashion but Merna takes the battering with some bravado and refuses to crumble just yet.

Round 6:
Cole wastes little time in another aggressive approach as Merna single strikes from mid-range before leaping away into safety. Cheryl peppers her ribs but fails to reach the face as Gemma shows more footwork agility and strays away from the menacing Geordie. Cole yells out at her, demands more action, calls the blonde 'a coward', but Merna ignores the teasing, circles back repeatedly, avoids closing the distance and Cheryl loses her temper, jumps at her rival with some chaotic swings before coach Gail Kim's voice from the corner reminds her to keep the game plan and drop the unneccessary risks. Brunette barks in anger, but retreats seemingly giving the aching actress time to catch her breath back; perhaps the Kear's Kats team have some aces left in their sleeve though and Merna has taken enough punishment to prevent her from coming back into this bout.

Round 7:
Cheryl remains angry, shows more mean intentions, really keen to beat the blonde up but catches the arms with her first attacks in the seventh, switches down low, finds more stubborn defence and Merna smacks her over the top, lands couple of jabs to the mouth, goes around the elbows and cleans out Cole's ribcage as they tangle in the middle of the ring. Gemma shows more aggression, whips an uppercut to the jaw, surprises the singer and wobbles her back with another series to the head. Cheryl ducks and weaves in avoidance but still gets tagged on the nose as Merna piles in with more jabbing to the body, forces the Geordie to step back and dance around the ring thereafter. Cheryl tries to tame the unexpected onslaught; misses some hooks to the head though and Gemma counters, bangs a big right between the arms, snaps the brunette's breasts and nails her on the mouth with a quick uppercut and Cheryl sinks on her knees, moans in pain but more jabs clean out her ribs and she falls on the ropes as Gemma throws wide slaps from both flanks, buries the aching singer even further but the bell comes to the rescue and halts the blonde's charge. Merna throws her rival a proper death stare this time and Cole just searches for Gail Kim's look, clearly stunned by the action in this round. Gemma looks far from being done here much to the Kats' dismay.

Round 8:
Merna with more single jabbing to the head, but crashes off the gloves as Cole whacks her under the elbows in response. Geordie girl back on the front foot, still keen to enforce her presence allthough one must wonder whether that's exactly what coach Kim ordered. She lashes out at her rival with a flurry of shots forcing the blonde back, follows up with more hooks to the head but Merna answers back, targets the liver area, slows the brunette down in the proccess as the tension between the two hellcats raises a notch. Cheryl throws another series up high but Gemma weaves around it and they both settle down, continue to circle around each other unable to break one another for good. Merna tries some low jabs; gets whacked on the temple with a quick response, but it's not accurate enough from the Geordie as she skims off the ear with a follow-up hook and gets laced with a huge left hand on the mouth! Cheryl's head snaps back and her lower lip has been cut by that shot! Small ammont of blood begins to fall down her chin and Gemma pours in with more jabs to the head; Cole is bleeding but reverts back to the rack pounding, lands couple of uppercuts clean however the blonde actress keeps coming forward. She can't damage the brunette anymore though as Cheryl leaps back and forth in avoidance and Merna's aggression fails to pay off late on with her foe seeing out the round on the backfoot but seemingly sharp enough to endure the upcoming two rounds.

Round 9:
Cole maybe nurses that fat lip, but she leaps after the blonde again, the aglity and speed is not there anymore and in fact both girls looks much slower across the canvas, visibly affected by this gruesome contest. Merna scores couple of hooks to the ribs early but hangs back as Cheryl jabs to the chest, looking for more rack snapping before getting blocked off and stepping away. Single strikes from Merna; she fails to reach her opponent's head and circles back herself. Cole tries to go after her in the second half of the round, jabs to the body before Gemma strays away again, fruitless efforts from the singer as the blonde clearly wants to salvage something for the final three minutes and it's getting mighty close to wearing herself out for Cole before loud screams from coach Kim restore her focus and allow to hang on until the bell without more useless efforts. The tension is really incredible with Cole a knockdown ahead but Gemma harrassing her all the way through and perhaps still looking for that late haymaker to knock the brunette out cold.

Round 10:
Much calmer atmosphere in the Kats entourage but Gemma is up from her stool early in the opposite corner and looks to pounce on her rival quickly. Indeed she storms out after the bell and Cheryl looks overwhelmed, tries to protect her alleged lead on the scorecards but the blonde nails her with the left hand over the top, whacks her in the stomach and Cole's fitness level is nowhere near good enough to keep her away from the menacing actress. She moans in pain after more jabs clean out her midsection, fires a response, but skims off the gloves and Gemma pours in with a series to the breasts, splits the Geordie's mitts and whacks her on the nose and Cole wobbles back. Merna misses a left hook but lands another right on the tummy and Cheryl just covers up, can't stop moaning in pain. Merna's on a mission though, pummels the aching singer back to the ropes, throws a series of jabs around the elbows, sinks the hapless brunette on her knees and just bashes her to the body, strikes over the top, hopes to shatter Cole's guard and succeeds in the second minute, splits the mitts apart, bangs her on the mouth and Cheryl's in real trouble here, begins to bleed from the lip again, tries to clinch but gets spun back to the ropes with a huge uppercut on the jaw as Gemma screams in anger, whacks a left hook on the eye... DOWN GOES COLE... bouncing off the ropes and falling face-first on the canvas, just crumbling under a late barrage. Merna gave it all there and bends forward in exhaustion, places her gloves on the knees and watches on as her rival tries to beat the count. Cheryl might be busted up badly after that vicious series but she launches herself upright at eight and allthough she shows little aggression, she avoids a late upset and forces more boxing. Merna leaps after her, but lacks speed and allthough she single strikes to the body, tries to keep the brunette pinned along the ropes, Cheryl is just quick enough to remain in safety. Merna desperate for a late KO, literally wears herself out in fruitless hassling efforts and when she finally has the Geordie leaning back on the ropes in sheer exhaustion, she's too tired to make further damage and just settles for a clinch as both girls truly gave their best tonight and have no more energy left at the final bell. Merna closes her eyes and slumps down on her stool, she's finished, no doubt about it as Cheryl leans over the ropes before getting a warm embrace from coach Gail Kim. 'If I don't win this one, I'll scratch her eyes out!, Cole stares over at the blonde and knows that the last round knockdown might just have snatched the victory away from her. Some heated exchange between her and coach Kim follows as the singer looks bemused by the defensive tactics in the final round and Gail seems to acknowledge her mistake, nods in approval to Cheryl's comments and angry hand gestures. But here comes the announcer, so let's hear it!

After ten rounds of boxing we go to the scorecards... judges score the bout unanimous on all three cards... 95-95!!! The fight has been declared a DRAW!!!

'Whaaaaaaatttt????', another angry scream from Cheryl Cole as she stomps her foot against the canvas in frustration! 'That was never a draw, I had the b###h begging for mercy!!! C'mon, Merna! Show me what you really got!' the Geordie singer is truly beside herself and leaps towards the sitting actress who looks disappointed by the eventual score but nowhere near as angry as her nemesis. 'C'mon, Merna! You damn coward! Let's settle this once and for all! I won't live with this draw thing! Get up!' Cheryl is finally dragged away by Gail Kim but a quick talk with the Beever's entourage follows and there's an official offer to Gemma, a two round overtime to settle this gruesome bout. Blonde refuses at first, but a frequent chant from her rival 'Coward, coward, coward!' makes her decide otherwise. She has her gloves strapped again and YES!!! She's going for the all or nothing overtime! Cole nods her head in approval "Right! Either I go or she goes!" Ref is back talking to both sides, explains that if another draw is reached after two extra rounds, the fight will be definitely stopped due to live TV window closing, but Cheryl shoves him away 'I will send the b###h spinning back on the floor well before that!' Gemma just stares at her, ignores all the trash talk; seemingly happy with her gloves doing the talking. Here we go for the extra rounds in the Wembley Arena as the crowd applauds both hellcats with a standing ovation!!!

Round 11:
Cheryl was hurt at the end of the tenth but the extended break between the extra rounds enabled her to recover better while Merna has visible breathing trouble and can't avoid the Geordie closing her down quickly and jabbing to the body. Gemma leaps around those shots, fires some response over the top, but skims off Cole's gloves and gets laced repeatedly under the elbows before Cheryl goes higher, targets the rack and bounces the blonde's assets up and down, forcing the actress to moan in pain and it's suddenly getting one-sided with Cole just tearing into the blonde's jugs, barking in anger in the proccess!! Merna is pushed back to the ropes, finds success with a quick left hook on the temple but allthough Cheryl's head snaps back, she pours in with more vicious shots to the chest; bends the aching blonde forward, bangs her with another left hook on the temple herself and Merna sinks on her knees, allows more jabs to the stomach and screams in pain as Cheryl is pounding her brains out with a ruthless display, but even the fiercest of approaches can't make her send the blonde down on the floor again and Cole runs out of steam, bangs single jabs to the ribcage, leans on her foe but this only enables Gemma to clinch her and land some shots to the midsection herself as Cheryl is eventually pushed away by the referee and she's taking a breather as well, just stares at her stranded rival but can't execute a put away finish, she's feeling the heat too and both girls are relieved to hear the bell; Cheryl clearly getting the upperhand during the opening two minutes and Merna has her back against the wall again.

Round 12:
Gemma has to comr forward and she knows it, similar to round ten approach from the actress who laps towards her rival but Cheryl is quicker and she's not going for safety anymore which cost her the win in normal time. She squares up to Merna, avoids couple of hooks and whacks her between the arms again. Gemma winces in pain, but fires another hook over the top, splits Cole's mitts and nails her on the mouth, slams her in the chest herself shortly afterwards but Cheryl ducks away from more leather; counters to the head and Merna stumbles forward, she's just too slow to force the brunette on the backfoot and gets laced with a high hook as Cole piles in more pressure. Single striking from behind the guard set up another quick leap and more jabs to the ribcage follow. Merna takes the punishment with another moaning sequence, answers back with couple of hook to the head and the girls are bashing each other in the middle of the ring with new-found intensity, mind-over-matter stuff as Cheryl's head snaps back repeatedly, her lip bleeding again but she hangs on, wrenches the blonde between the arms as Gemma took a wild swing and got exposed. Jabbing series to the breasts and a quick uppercut send her flying back to the ropes as Cole takes command in the final minute, pummels the blonde's midsection, lands few half-uppercuts to the rack, bounces 'em up and down one more time and it's almost a miracle Gemma's bikini top doesn't get ripped off in the proccess. Merna sinks further on her knees and she's run out of all her energy now, just unable to tame the Geordie onslaught as Cole peppers her jugs and stomach all the way until the bell and Gemma just crashes down on her backside as soon as the fight concludes with Cheryl raising her arms in winning gesture. Powerful display from the brunette singer in the overtime rounds and there's no controversy this time; comes back 115-113 and UD12 Cheryl Cole!!!

Post-fight:
Cheryl walks around the ring with her arms raised in the air, lip badly bleeding but she's just savoring this moment. Wait a second... she suddenly drops her arms, wraps them around her tummy and crashes down on the knees before rolling on her back! She's truly unable to handle the twelve round punchfest and needs a helping shoulder from coach Gail Kim who drags her off the floor and escorts back to the corner. Cole's been riding some borrowed life in the overtime it seems and once the adrenaline dropped, she crumbled in exhaustion as well. What a finish! Indeed Cheryl needs some time to recover and while her lip is sealed by the cutmen she affords herself another smile 'It's no big deal, she maybe damaged my lip, but I pounded the living daylights out of her instead! Gemma's frickin' melons are toast!'

It's a very sad end to Gemma's quest to return to winning ways. She was destined to snap the seven fight losing streak but went for a win in overtime and simply didn't have enough energy left to follow up on that last round knockdown. She remains sitting on the canvas all the way through Cheryl's crumbling moment; her head slumps on the shoulders and Gemma just tries to recover from the tremendous punchfest she'd endured tonight. She slowly drops on her knees and crawls back to her corner where the Beevers entourage look devastated. Coach Denise Lewis offers the brave blonde a warm hug and helps her scramble onto her stool but Gemma closes her eyes and grabs her breasts seemingly checking up if they're still in one piece after all that leather which Cole landed on them. Yep, the jugs are bruised but they're still fine and she can always claim Cheryl's rack is minor league instead.

This gruesome contest is over and both girls have no energy left in them to continue the post-fight bickering. They're equally exhausted but Cheryl smiles on her stool and watches on as Gemma leaves the Arena first, helped by coach Lewis. She receives a standing ovation nonetherless but the noise level raises when the Geordie singer follows suit couple of minutes later. This maybe London, many miles from Cole's home town of Newcastle, but her physical presence is well-known across the country and the boxing skills have improved lately as well which can only help her further establish her image among BBU flyweights. Sure, almost every other girl simply hates her guts because of all the attention she gets, but tonight she silenced the critics even if for a short time. One must imagine several other girls are lining up to take a swing at the former Girls Aloud leader. She's either loved or hated but definitely not ignored!
