FOXFIRE UNITED VS FRONT STREET JAPAN #5

Hayden and Jun are close in size (5’ 1 ½ vs. 5’ 2), but Hayden’s 23, while Jun is 32. Jun’s been fighting well recently but Hayden’s been growing with frustration of being the stablemate of the FCBA Flyweight Champ. “This is my chance to show everyone how good I am,” declares the young blonde. Ms. Natsukawa says simply: “I know Hayden has a big name--but it won’t do her any good against me. I will do to her what I have done to her others: take her apart.” Bold words indeed! Fight night finds Hayden in red bikini with playful white polka dots and red gloves. Jun is in a black bikini trimmed with gold and golden gloves. Hair hanging loose for both ladies.

R1: Girls come out of their corners with a cagey caution, but Hayden soon shows a swift look, darting back forth with punching barrages aimed at Jun’s face. Neatly done as Jun’s face starts to redden and swell from the impacts. Jun looking bewildered. It seems evident to observers that she’s never really faced anyone like this before and is unable to deploy her usual swinging punches. Hayden has no such problem as she continues to connect again and again throughout this opening round and wins it quite easily.

R2: Hayden continues the offensive on the Japanese fighter. The blonde lands in her shots in little bunches of three or four. Jun trying to respond, but looks sluggish and confused. Hayden’s happy smacking Jun’s head around again and again can’t be helping the Japanese girl’s focus. Second round goes to Hayden who again outclasses Jun.

R3: Hayden comes merrily darting in ready to do more damage to Jun’s increasing bruised and battered gave, but this time the FSJ flyweight whips a left hook into Hayden’s ribcage at last showing some form. Hayden looks startled, but covers up well, then retreats, drawing Jun in towards her and then unleashing a painful lesson in jabbing and moving. Jun is caught flat footed as Hayden’s gloves seem to blur as they work Jun’s face like a speedbag. Jun finally pulls back and covers up, but when the round ends the Japanese girl’s look very swollen as she dodders back towards her stool. Hayden banks a third stanza on the cards.

R4: It doesn’t get any easier for Jun Natsukawa this round which starts with Hayden giving her good straight left to the mouth. Then Hayden strikes with lefts and rights to the head that knock Jun’s head from side to side. Jun goes face-in-gloves, but she’s backed up against the ropes and Hayden now shifts her fire to Jun’s body. Solid shots to the body finally force Jun to drop her guard to protect her battered midsection, but this allows Hayden to sneak in a left uppercut in the dying seconds of the round that turns Jun’s legs to rubber as she sags against the ropes, nearly going down. Bell rings to end another Hayden round.

R5: Jun comes plodding out of her corner. She’s not looking good as the bubbly blonde skips across the ring and lays into her with a fresh shelling of leather. After working the Japanese girl over for a solid minute, Hayden steps back as though to inspect her handiwork. Jun moves forward with a sort of slouch and Hayden responds with a swift one, two--DOWN GOES JUN IN A HEAP! However the Japanese veteran shows her courage by slowly getting back to her feet and steadying herself. Unfortunately, as soon as the ref waves Hayden back in, Jun pounded again and Hayden stays on her with relentless determination. By sheer willpower, Jun Natsukawa endures the punching and makes it to the bell still on her feet, but her face is a swollen and bruised wreck. Hayden continues to dominate with another round in her column.

R6: No sign at all that Hayden is slowing down. She bounces out of her corner and takes the fight to Jun once again. A volley of punches crash into Jun’s battered face as the Japanese flyweight can’t even get out of her own corner. Jun trapped and just getting taken apart by the merciless blonde and the REF JUMPS IN! The official won’t allow Jun to take anymore and properly ends the torture by cradling in limp fighter to safety. Hayden wipes her sweaty forehead and then raises her arm. Grim smile of satisfaction on the victor’s face. Hayden Panettiere TKO6.

After: “I wanted to make a point and I think I did,” Hayden says to the press in post-fight with a big smile. “Jun just couldn’t get going against me. I have to say I thought she was really brave to hang in. I’m glad the referee stepped in before Jun was seriously hurt. Now I can go back home with a happy heart.”

Surprisingly, Jun Natsukawa, despite her badly bruised face, comes out to talk to the press. “Not one of my better fights,” she admits ruefully, “but now that I’ve seen Hayden’s style, I think I would do better next time--if there is a next time.”

Told of the comment Hayden smiles and says: “I think Jun ought to think that out more clearly. She might be pushing her luck if she ever tried fighting me again.”

The victory leaves Front Street Japan still ahead 3-2, but Foxfire United seems to be getting its ring act together at last.
