BEFORE: "Everyone's always worried that I'm too small for these lightweights," Emmanuelle Vaugier smiles at podium. "And I love that! Makes it very profitable to bet on myself with the odds I usually get. The fact is, with skill and speed, you don't need size in boxing. I'd probably work Amanda Righetti for a decision if I got the chance, so there's no woman in the world I look at and say, 'nope, that's just too big for me!'"

De La Garza business-like at podium - gracious but firm with her opponent. "Emmanuelle's done very well against bigger women who can't fight," Alana says at podium, "but don't let her fool you: girl-friend carries 125 very well when she needs to make lightweight strong. She's a fast, dangerous girl, but listen: I'm a veteran taller fighter who knows how to box. That's the key difference here. R2: De La Garza stepping in with the jab, keeping weight forward and pouring home right-cross chasers...drilling one-twos hammer through Vaugier's defences early, pounding her face back, scattering her into retreat. Emmanuelle genuinely stung...she spends the entire second minute loping the perimeter, trying to shake Alana's leggy pursuit, but down the stretch, Vaugier walks De La G into a sneaky, looping right hand upside the head to renegotiate all terms. Alana stunned, belted right-side first into ropes...Vaugier able to square away, dig up the gut hup-hup-hup, then finish in Alana's tits via jackhammer hooks to eke out the draw. Bell: De La Garza staring, hair in her eyes, lips parted...she hadn't expected to be hurt at any time tonight.

R3: De La G in forward aspect - weight on left (front) leg; right heel up off canvas...she's pounding one-twos up the middle, punching through the defences to score heavily upon Vaugier's face. Emmanuelle hammered out of her set positions, then walked down...she's hurt early, blinking in confusion, retreating to ropes and presenting earmuff fronts. De La Garza jabbing tummy/jug, then dipping torso-left for an angle, lick-snatching that lanky Latina hook in behind Vaugier's right elbow. Recovery jab stamps Emmanuelle's tits, keeping her docile: De La Garza snarling as she pounds the right cross into Vaugier's defences up top, setting herself for the pay-off left hook tart against the body. Beating piles up - De la Garza using her height and reach, but leaning into Vaugier with power...Emmanuelle defending the pocket fairly well upstairs, but taking a rich, thick beating amidships that could pay dividends for Alana down the road.

R4: Vaugier proves she can jab-with taller Alana - scoring against De la Garza's mouth and breasts, then sidestepping-left around Latina right flank. Rangy ladies lean into whistling right hands: Vaugier scoring to chin while Alana misses by millimeters. Elegant, leggy, precision boxing midring as girls rotate clockwise, shooting straight punches from hands-up guards...De La Garza not shut out, but she is outclassed to some extent as Vaugier tattoos bigger girl for points.

R5: Alana making an effort to "fight big" - pushing Vaugier in her shoulders, walking her down, hooking her body, tying up just to get a tummy on the lighter girl. Vaugier pushed around, but punching well in retreat - constantly chopping short rights to Alana's chin as De La Garza's extending arms to push shoulders. Down the stretch, Vaugier finds paydirt: chin-chopping right unhinges Alana's legs, putting her wobbly-butt and blinking. With Alana in earmuff, Vaugier tears at the gut left/right/left - punching viciously to cramp Alana up. Stooped forward and gut-shot, Alana's jugs go on sale: rip-roaring, crowd-pleasing flurry to rack steals the round for Emmanuelle late as De La G whines in complaint.

R6: Alana hard-eyed, coldblooded as she works behind the jab, patiently beating down resistance, cutting off the ring, walking her girl down. As Vaugier is guided to corners, she's fighting back hard, but De La Garza resolute: Latina leaning in over lead (left) leg, popping hips-right and CRANKING in the De La Hoya style left hooks. Vaugier cringing from whacking body shots...Emmanuelle visibly breaking down over the final minute as Alana finally imposes will.

R7: Same again, only moreso. Alana grimly efficient - jabbing Vaugier's head back stiff, cutting off the ring to channel Emmanuelle to corners, then leaning in to hook her ribcage/tummy. Brutally effective...Vaugier's beautiful face busting up under Alana's heavy stick; Vaugier unable to fire back after receiving God-awful shellack to her body. Emmanuelle issuing her first clinches in the corners, hanging on bleak and cringing for ref's breaks...it's Alana's best, most comprehensive round thus far.

R8: Vaugier strikes back! Emmanuelle showing a lively leg - circling to her left, jabbing head/body; trading swift right hands on good terms, then using her legs to renegotiate angles. Emmanuelle doing it from outside - outjabbing Alana; frustrating Alana with movement; distributing punches evenly between belly/breasts/face...Vaugier showing tremendous conditioning, world-class skills by taking back the initiative from Alana this round.

R9: Alana doubles down on her body attack...to withering effect. Heartbreaking to watch De la Garza punishing Vaugier's sensuous face with that thumping jab, beating her sleepy while steering her to corners. Then OH, the body punching...Alana popping hips-right, getting up and into Emmanuelle with those rangy, rising hooks...big baseball-bat whacks sounding out from Vaugier's torso, cramping her up in shock. Emmanuelle crippled - all she can do is clinch and hang on after Alana's had her way...De la Garza bodying Vaugier into ropes as girls embrace, making Emmanuelle take weight.

R10: Vaugier won't punk! Visibly drained by Alana's merciless body-hooks, Emmanuelle fights a spirited series of engagements all around the ring - peppering encroaching Latina via straight, palm-down lefts and rights in flurries, then sidestepping to freedom. De La Garza frowning, wading in behind a high crossed-arm with back of right hand at left cheek/left tucked into right armpit...she's blocking shots, but unable to issue receipts as Vaugier spits punches and escapes. Bell: Vaugier's won a pesky-smart 10th...goes to the cards, comes back a 1pt duke Alana De la Garza.

After: Alana gracious after hardfought victory - shaking Vaugier's hand, giving her a hug...respect shown Emmanuelle a far-cry from Alana's attitude towards women like Tricia Helfer in the past. "Vaugier's the real-deal," Alana admits in postfight. "I put a Helfer-busting body-whipping on that girl and she wouldn't give in, so you gotta give her credit. You also have to give me credit: I'm bigger and better - that can't be denied. I'm still as hot - if not hotter - than all the CW skanks; I've got the skills, I've got the will...I still think I'm a serious player at lightweight and if Rachel Nichols is any kind of a real champion, she'll be looking my way soon!"
