BBU: THE GEORGIE THOMPSON CHALLENGE #2

(FOXFIRE ATLANTIC BOXING VS BBU INDEPENDENT)

We're back in the BBU International Arena for the second fight of the Georgie Thompson Challenge where Denise van Outen's own pick, Pooja Shah (Foxfire Atlantic Boxing) will try to repeat Yuu Tejima's performance from few minutes ago and score her maiden BBU victory. Pooja lost all her six fights to date including a real hammering she took from Melissa Suffield back in August which lasted barely over two minutes. 'It's still longer than Georgie lasted against Mollie King on her debut', a very cheeky comment from Roxanne Pallett restores some authority and perhaps indicates the fact that Shah has been more unfortunate with her schedulling than her record shows as she's got defeats to former flyweight champs Gemma Merna and Adele Silva on her resume as well as another one against the hot-streak ridden Jenna Louise Coleman. 'That loss to Suffield was all down to luck, Pooja will slaughter Georgie in the ring!', Roxy keeps her mind straight as we head down to the ring.

Pooja Shah wearing a black bikini with yellow stripes and yellow gloves. Black hair tied in a curly ponytail mirroring Thompson's presence which remains unchanged from her Tejima fight few minutes ago. Unless someone arrived late for the broadcast we remind everyone it's red bikini, black gloves and a blonde curly ponytail for Thompson.

Round 1:
Georgie's face has been patched-up well after the vicious experience on the night's opening fight but Pooja remains on the back foot early, her confidence probably very low despite an obvious chance to finally score a win against equally mediocre looking opponent. Both girls work single shots from mid-range and Thompson catches a further respite, blocks off Pooja's half-hearted efforts and lands some leather on her own, targeting the brunette's midsection and keeping her at bay. One can sense, it's not a fight of the highest standard but Thompson leaps more confidently in the final minute, scores a solid combo to the ribs and even swings a menacing hook around the head which skims off the gloves and allows Pooja to send a series of shots to the chest before the bell sounds and both girls look relieved their rival hasn't shown much agression in the early stages.

Round 2:
Pooja was smiling during the interval at first but a serious pep talk from coach Sophia Myles wiped off that goofy grin in no time as the Foxfire crew know it's the best opportunity for Shah to finally break the awful streak of results. Pooja drops her lethargic stance and jumps after Georgie who was perhaps looking for another quiet round, but is forced into action early with the brunette lashing out at her and swinging hooks around the head. Thompson tries to land something on the midsection, but gets caught with a wayward hook on the cheek and steps back; Pooja didn't really place that one, just got lucky with Thompson walking onto it, but the blonde keeps ducking in avoidance as Shah throws more shots and finally meets more success; nails the reporter on the ribcage twice, flicks a suprise uppercut and snaps the blonde's head back. Encouraging screams from coach Myles are left without a follow-up though as Pooja seems somewhat surpised she's able to keep her rival under pressure, something's she's not used to given her previous record. Thompson forces a clinch though, taking advantage of Shah's brief moment of hesitance and then shoves the brunette away after a lenghty struggle. Both girls remain separated in mid-distance until the bell, but that was a solid chance gone begging for the Foxfire girl and there's more backlash from coach Myles during the interval.

Round 3:
Meanwhile in the Thompson corner manager Anthony Davidson remains composed and tells his girl to try and wear the brunette out. Bold decision given another fight to come later as Roxanne Pallett sounds equally annoyed in the booth as Sophia Myles, 'This is taking too long! Pooja should have floored Thompson already!' Denise van Outen keeps shaking her head in wake of that comment however back in the ring Shah's up for another aggressive charge as she peppers the blonde's guard from mid-range before closing in and sending some vicious jabs to the ribcage. Georgie remains on the back foot, circles around her rival, but the tactics ordered by manager Davidson fail to deliver as Pooja is able to strike without much resistance and hassle the blonde in convincing albeit not really enforcing fashion. Georgie throws single shots over the top, but can't beat the otherwise mediocre guard of her foe which got badly exposed by Melissa Suffield last time around. Pooja continues with the chaotic striking for remainder of the round, doing little damage on the reporter but perhaps impressing the judges enough to give her this round as coach Myles looks to have calmed down in the Foxfire corner witnessing a really low-key performance from her girl's opponent.

Round 4:
'Pooja's gonna do it the hard way, Denise!', another insightful (?) comment from Pallett begins the fourth but it's a change of action as Thompson suddenly leaps out of her stool and catches most of the audience and the TV booth by surprise with a big left on Shah's temple and the brunette herself never saw that coming as she wobbles back to the ropes and here comes Georgie with a spirited flurry of shots to the stomach; Pooja just covers up and takes some unexpected punishment before forcing a clinch as Thompson got over excited and allowed her rival to step to the side and wrap her arms around her neck. 'Definitely the hard way, Roxy', van Outen smiles back at her co-host while Pallett slams her hand across the forehead in disbelief and it's more from Thompson after the ref separates the two hellcats in the ring. Shah shows no footwork to escape from the dangerous spot and gets pinned to the ropes under a single striking sequence from the reporter as manager Davidson gets very excited in his corner while coach Myles loses her temper again. Pooja covers up and just avoids getting laced on the face, forces another clinch late in the round but she allowed Thompson to gain some confidence with that showing, really awful stuff from the brunette and no wonder Sophia Myles is all over her ear again during the interval.

Round 5:
Georgie's gained some confidence for sure and she leaps after her rival straight off the bell, but Pooja responds likewise and both girls tangle in the middle of the ring, throwing some heavy leather. Thompson nails her foe on the stomach, works around the ribs but can't reach for the head as Shah slams a left hook across her nose and follows up with a right over the top on the temple. Georgie winces in pain and wobbles a bit as Pooja whips a straight jab on the chest and bends the blonde forward. Left/right combo on the head and Thompson stumbles back to the ropes with Shah going after her! She single stirkes from the left but as Georgie covers up high, she exposes her tummy and Shah notices that, whacks a huge gutwrencher on the belly button which sinks the reporter down, right hook on the guard and Thompson starts to buckle here! Left hook around the gloves nails her on the ear and Roxy's up on her feet in the booth as Pooja sends another vicious jab on the belly button and THOMPSON SLIDES DOWN ON HER KNEES coughing in pain as she stares down on the canvas. 'Yeeessss! Did you see that, Denise? Right on the tummy, bytch!' Georgie's down on all fours as the ref starts the count, but she launches herself upright at seven and nods to him in approval. Final minute on the clock and despite putting on a brave face, Thompson looks to be just waiting for the bell as Shah fakes another low sequence, whips a left hook on the nose and Georgie's too slow to react, gets nailed clean before another quick hook laces her on the cheek and only then she can cover up and force a clinch in the dying seconds as Pooja leans on her and keeps pressed against the ropes. Coach Myles nods her head in approval as Shah walks back to her corner while manager Davidson is all over Georgie in the opposite corner as the blonde's face begins to flash red colors again, indicating the reporter has been dangerously cracked by that knockdown.

Round 6:
Some people in the audience expected Georgie to hang back after that poor round, but retreating against Pooja Shah is something unhead of in BBU competition so far and the blonde doesn't want to make Roxanne Pallett's predictions that obvious as she jumps after the brunette immediately after the bell. Cracked or not, Thompson sends a flurry of shots to the chest and face only to crash off the high guard with Pooja responding in a flush. She nails the blonde over the top with her first meaningful punch of the round, cleans out her nose and follow-ups with another jabbing sequence to the ribcage. Georgie moans in pain, drops her arms low, but gets outsmarted as Shah whips a point blank range jab on the nose and roots the reporter to the spot. Right hook on the temple also reaches the target and Thompson wobbles forward, struggles to raise her arms in time again and Shah whips an uppercut to the chin WHICH SENDS THE BLONDE DOWN ON HER KNEES AGAIN!!! How poor was that from the blonde? She got exposed like it's her first session in the gym and manager Davidson slumps his head against the ropes in shame. Georgie beats the count at eight, but her eyes are misty and Pooja bunny hops around her eager to finish her off now. Ref allows the blonde to resume the fight but she gets whacked by another hooking combo around the gloves, Shah gives her more head-snapping experience with a spirited charge and pushes the aching reporter back to the ropes where she repeatedly strikes her against the ribcage and the fighting will just goes away from the blonde who can't handle this continuous onslaught. Thompson fails to throw a single punch in response, doesn't stop moaning as Pooja slams her across the ribcage and even the clinching efforts are futile. One-sided beatdown along the ropes is finally halted by the ref before Georgie gets really pummelled out of her senses and as the man in charge drags the the raging brunette away, Thompson falls down on her knees, holding her ribs in visible discomfort. What a shocking way to lose a fight against a winless opponent! Another joyful scream is heard from the booth though and you know what that means! TKO R6 Pooja Shah!!!

Post-fight:
Misery continues for the blonde reporter as she has to swallow the fifth consecutive defeat while an understandably happy Pooja Shah is embraced by coach Sophia Myles and soon afterwards the Foxfire Atlantic duo walk around the ring relishing this historic experience for the 33 year old brunette. Seven is indeed the lucky number for Shah who scores her first BBU victory after six previous defeats and both Denise van Outen and Roxanne Pallett give her a standing ovation in the TV booth.

'It was long time coming for Pooja but she did what I hope she would do!', Roxy looks over at the blonde co-host who laughs at her in reponse,

'I thought you'd want Pooja to lose given the fact she's got a worse record than you and you'd like to keep it that way!'

'Well, I never said I wish her well in ALL her upcoming fights, Denise. She beat Georgie and credit to her, but whatever she does next, it doesn't bother me anymore! I'm here for Thompson alone, whoever beats her, gets my applause on the night and nothing more!'

'It's always nice to know you're such a caring and warm at heart girl, Roxanne! Bet those lads can't get enough of you!"

'No, they can't, Denise and who can blame them? Oh, I see the walking punchbag is back on her feet again! Well, that's two for two and I just hope Louise Redknapp brings the icing on the cake or else I'll have to scratch her eyes out...'

Final result: Pooja Shah def. Georgie Thompson TKO6.
