Well, I don’t know how Heidi got this gig! Her record’s pretty poor, but she beat Ola Jordan in the eliminator, so let’s see what she can do against the canny French girl.

Here’s Heidi, and she looks trim these days, wearing a gold bikini for the fight, and she looks good, watching as Virginie joins her in the ring, wearing a black bikini, and bouncing up and down, and she’s going to be looking to her experience tonight, I think.

Round 1

Well, the girls have started like they mean it! They just swapped some pretty heavy punches in the centre of the ring, which concluded with Heidi eating a big right hand and backing off, so now Virginie is swarming over her, giving her some more crisp punches around the mouth, and Heidi clings on hard! The ref’s broken the girls quickly, but Heidi doesn’t move far away, and she’s clubbing the French girl in her ribs, bullying her a little, and this is good, confident stuff from Heidi! She’s got the champion on the ropes here, and she’s not letting her back – she’s pummeling her at the moment, and that’s the end of the round – Heidi won it!

Round 2

Heidi’s looking good now, and she’s tucked into Virginie’s body again there, backed her up to the ropes, and she’s taking the fight to her – this is good stuff from the Liverpool girl. But Virginie’s not looking too bothered by her efforts, and that’s a class move form her – she dropped her shoulder, came off the ropes and turned Range, and she’s hurt her with her right hook, rocked the blonde and sent her along the ropes, sliding, then there’s a left to the body, and a right hook again – yep! Heidi’s down! She takes her time getting up – the count reached 7 – but she hasn’t got a clear head yet, and Virginie lamps her with another good right hand, and Heidi’s clinching, gets pushed back, and eats a one-two, and she might go again, but there’s the bell, and Virginie is taking command here now.

Round 3

This is good boxing from the French girl, and she’s banging some hard punches into Heidi’s face now, with the singer trying to cover up, trying not to stand still, but this is hard for her, and she’s getting outclassed at the moment – oh, and that’s got her again! Virginie gave her a lovely right hook, and Heidi’s down again, on her back, and dazed, but she’s up at 8, and she looks unsteady as Virginie pins her into the ropes and she hurt her to the body that time – she could finish this fight off right here, but Heidi’s not giving her much to aim at, and she’s taking a few hard blows to the body rather than get another one in the face – she’s struggling, but she makes it to the end of the round!

Round 4

Heidi’s a brave girl, and she’s still willing to give this fight a go, bouncing on her toes as the round starts, she’s taking the fight to a shocked Virginie, who covers up under the attack from the younger girl, taking some firm punches, but she still doesn’t seem concerned, and it looks like Heidi’s running out of steam now – there’s still a while to go in this round, and Virginie hurt Heidi then, got her in the ribs with a solid right hand, yeah, and another – but Heidi’s fighting back! Good girl, Heidi! She’s giving Virginie all she’s got here, but the champ seems to be able to cope with it, even though the Brit got a round back on her.

Round 5

Heidi’s looking swift on her feet again, and I like the way she just won’t back off, even though Virginie’s giving her a boxing lesson again now, batting her head from side to side, and Heidi’s beginning to bruise up a little more than I like to see – she really is getting worked over now, and maybe the ref should have a think about this. Heidi fights back, though! Wow! She at last caught Virginie with a left hook, and that made her stagger a little, but she’s not got enough left to follow in, and the champ recovers, and now she’s back in control, and these closing seconds are tough for Heidi, as Virginie punishes her for her bravery by giving her body a heavy battering in that neutral corner.

Round 6

The ref looked very hard at Heidi during the interval, but he’s letting this fight go on, and she again moves across the ring to confront Virginie, who still looks fresh, and who now gives Heidi a couple of firm punches in the tummy, and the blonde stoops, and gets the treatment with a solid right hand, and she’s down again, on all fours now as she somehow gets up – it’s all over though! The ref’s holding Virginie’s arm aloft.

Virginie Ledoyen stopped Heidi Range in round 6 to retain the BBU flyweight title.

Well, Heidi did her best out there – but Virginie'’s just too good for her at the moment, and that title belt’s going to take some prising loose!
