BBU FLYWEIGHT TITLE

Virginie’s title is up for grabs again, with the veteran now taking on 22 Emily Atack, a girl she knocked out in 8 rounds on her way to claiming the BBU belt, but it was a hard fight last time, and the French girl knows she’ll need to be making her height advantage count to retain this title.

Here comes Emily, and she looks fantastic in a white bikini with royal blue edging and ribbons, and now she’s joined by Virginie in a black one-piece outfit. Advantage Miss Atack!

Round 1

The girls both know that the other can punch, and they’re showing respect, with Emily seeming to dictate the pace a little, fighting in patches, punching Virginie, then drifting back, drawing the champion, then knocking her backwards again. Virginie’s a little puzzled, can’t quite work Emily out at the moment, and she keeps up the pressure as best she can, but finds herself eating leather every time she comes in to land a punch, the English girl’s gloves finding her face a hittable target.

Round 2

Virginie makes a better start this round, and she’s standing off more, using her reach and clipping Emily’s face, not allowing her young opponent to settle, and certainly not allowing her to decide how she’s going to fight. Now Virginie’s boxing like the true champion she is, and she gives Emily a nice, crisp left jab, jolts her head back, then gives her another, and a third – suddenly the blonde looks concerned, and she just can’t get inside the French girl’s lead without taking a smacking series of punches to her face – she isn’t able to work to the body either, and she’s getting outclassed by the older girl in this round.

Round 3

Emily steps up the pace right from the bell, flitting in and out and jabbing nicely into Virginie’s face, but the champion answers in kind, her left glove repeatedly finding the blonde girl’s cheek and eye, and she’s certainly bruising the younger girl around that area now. Emily steps inside nicely, but can’t bring her punches home at the moment, taking them instead as Virginie throws some short armed shots from waist level, punches that land and hurt, then land again, and Emily is getting pressed to the ropes at the end of the round, but, just as Virginie gets in to punish her, she lands a lovely left hand to the French girl’s jaw to send her away and to her corner all shaky at the bell.

Round 4

It’s beginning to dawn on Emily that she can hurt Virginie if she toughs this out, and she’s using her legs well to gets inside the taller girl’s reach and give her some hefty thumps to the ribs, and Virginie isn’t finding her target at all now, with Emily fighting very much up close and personal, her hard punches taking the wind out of the champ as they smack into her ribs and midsection, and her work level is beginning to drop off as the blonde challenger takes the strength out of her inside and begins to rough her up a little more than she would expect.

Round 5

It’s more of the same, with Emily quickly getting into her rhythm and smacking Virginie to the body with hard and telling punches, and she’s dominating and bullying the older girl now, taking control of her and moving her around the ring. Virginie is getting sorted out by the younger girl now, and her gloves are beginning to drop as she gets tired and weakened by this relentless onslaught, a drop that Emily spots, and quickly raps Virginie to the face, left, right, another left, and the champion starts to wobble again like she did at the end of the third round, but this time Emily still has time to hit her again – and she does! She rips her right hook into Virginie’s face three more times, and the girls clinch, but when they are parted as the bell rings, everyone can see that the champion is hurt – she stumbles and half collapses on her stool when she reaches it.

Round 6

Virginie’s breathing hard now, and those right hooks have done a bit of a job on her left cheekbone, with an evil little mouse swelling there, and Emily’s crafty enough to get to that swelling, too – landing another right hook bang on it, and Virginie clinches. This doesn’t help though, because Emily gives her a good left to the body, and there’s a little coming together of heads, and Emily’s forehead wins the contest with Virginie’s damaged cheek, and the swelling is now closing her eye. Maybe that was an accident, but Emily isn’t too distressed, and she takes advantage, targeting that eye and making sure it’s shutting, then she sort of twists Virginie around and gives her a good smack back and forth, the front row of the crowd getting a little shower of snot and sweat as the French girl’s head turns, and she’s maybe a little lucky to stay on her feet.

Round 7

The Lioness Club corner are complaining about the clash of heads which has damaged their girl, but the fight goes on, with Emily now in total control against a wounded, one eyed champion, and she quickly puts the French girl back in her own corner when she right hooks her face again, and gives her a couple of left hooks to the body to add to her misery, then gives her face another right hand, and another, turns her head sideways with a left hook, then puts her down at last with a withering right hook to that swollen cheek. It takes a while for Virginie to get up, but the count has only reached 7, and she sets herself up to fight on, her body turned to try to protect her eye, which lays her open to punishment elsewhere, and Emily’s left hook sinks deep into her right flank, her mouth gaping open in a silent scream, and she just about keeps upright when the blonde challenger smacks her head backwards with a little flurry of punches, the champ ending the round backed up on the ropes.

Round 8

The referee is looking hard at Virginie, but he won’t want to stop a title fight if he can help it – certainly Emily looks like she wants to finish the job herself, and she’s giving the French girl some withering blows to the body, fetches her with another right hook to the face, and back to the canvas goes Virginie – but she gets up at 6! Emily’s shocked, but she gets on with her job, hits Virginie again in the mouth, sends her backwards, closes in – but that’s enough! Virginie’s no longer defending herself, and her title has gone.

Emily Atack stopped Virginie Ledoyen in round 8, and becomes the new BBU flyweight champion at the age of just 22!

Virginie’s corner is still angry, but replays show that clash of heads was accidental, and pretty much her own fault anyway for pulling Emily into a clinch. All in all, her acceptance of defeat is not good, while Emily is just overjoyed to have won, and is leaping up and down and screaming in celebration.
