Before: Michelle looking to rebuild career momentum takes on reliable Phillips who really has dropped down to the level of opponent in recent fights. Bobbie lamenting her rep, still thinks of herself as a marquis name, but one of the worst records in boxing begs to differ. Stylistically, Phillips does some things that could give Michelle problems, but Williams the real scrapper of the two should be able to overcome. Williams in white sports bra, teal adidas terrycloth trunks, Phillips in black sports bra, purple bikini bottoms.

During R1: Williams coming in a little too upright, and Bobbie does a nice job of stepping to the left around her jab, marking up the youngster’s face early with punishing precision. In the final minute, Williams shows dangerous disdain for her opponent, walking through the jab, and Bobbie beats her to the punch with a right hand, smashing Michelle on the teeth and sending her reeling wide-eyed to the ropes at the bell, Michelle hurt, is tended to with smelling salts at the break.

R2,3,4: Nice boxing from Bobbie--these aren’t shutout rounds, but Phillips takes away most of the things Williams wanted to do by getting off first, keeping the jab in Williams’ face, and stinging the blonde with right hands hard and often enough to welt up the left side of Michelle’s head, Michelle following rather than cutting off the ring, is making a puncher of Bobbie by walking into the right hand--Williams’ head. Phillips with a nice lead on the cards ins in danger of leaving Mish far, far behind.

R5: Mish finally steps it up, moving her head to get under Bobbie’s jab, coming back with wide right hands to the ribs, and presto--Phillips starts to wilt,, Mish on the inside dominates, mugging Bobbie in the clinches, walking her to the ropes getting off with clubbing 2 and 3 punch combinations, and pounding those Bobbie breasts with bad intentions. Phillips with b###hy pout, can’t fight her way out, and can’t seem to clinch as the blonde pushes the brunette’s arms out, then snacks on midriff bell to bell.

R6: Shutout Williams as she continues to hound Bobbie. Phillips spending more time seated on the ropes, taking a nice tummy scrub, and now giving up clouting wide blows on the jaw, especially from Michelle’s biting left hook. Williams comfortable, using her shoulders t budge Phillips back and just applying steady pressure to the problem of wearing her brunette out.

R7: Bobbie rediscovering the jab, lures Michelle forward, then walks her into the right uppercut on the mouth that stops Williams in her tracks., Michelle getting a little predictable, allows Bobbie to ride her left arm over the shoulder, pulling Williams into right hands to the body and face--Phillips able to punch then hold for clinches has Williams smothered this round.

R8,9: William staying composed, but it’s a much tighter contest than expected and she begins to press, Bobbie not as busy, starting to clinch and b###h more often, bur still bogging Michelle down enough to avoid getting hurt. Michelle allowing the clinch, is out punching Bobbie to take these rounds, but not putting together sustained offense. Going into the tenth, it’s too close to call, and Williams corner calls for the knockout with urgency.

R10: Michelle Williams responds, coming out with renewed upper body movement, coming out of her bob to crank left hooks, then back into the crouch to make Phillips miss. Up and down, Michelle moving forward, stepping in with her hook, and at the minute mark, she catches Bobbie stepping back with a beautiful left hand on the teeth to deposit Phillips on her backside at the ropes. Phillips holding back tears, slaps the canvas in frustration as she gets up and the war is on. Bobbie fighting to erase the knockdown, stands and swings wide with both hands, breasts heaving wildly as Michelle answers back with tight, ore controlled left hooks, Bobbie forced to the ropes, but unbowed, continues slugging and in the final minute with a fluky right uppercut scrapes across Michelle’s face and MICHELLE’S IS HURT! Michelle swoons forward--Bobbie catches her up underneath the arms and spins the blonde to the ropes. Bobbie pouring it on, cradling Williams with the left arm and drifting right hands to the blonde’s face as Michelle goes wobbly butt. Bell sounds as Phillips pounds away, crying with desperation--Williams blubbery and vacant soaking up punches without response, Decision comes back a heartbreaker--Michelle Williams by the slimmest of margins.

After: Phillips inconsolable in her corner, sobbing with her taped hands over her face. Williams shakes it off and is all smiles, coming back from way down to get it done in the final round with a Hail Mary knockdown. Gutty effort by Michelle illustrates the difference between these two: Bobbie’s softness under pressure betrays her again while Michelle finds a way to win.
