Missy Peregrym versus Ali Larter

A few years previously, Missy Peregrym dominated the bantamweight division and eventually, decided to move on to fresh challenges in the lightweight division. Immediately upon entering the division, she ran into veteran Ali Larter, who handed her a devastating loss as a “welcome” to the lightweight division. The previous December, Missy had challenged Ali Larter again and although it was closer, the result was the same – a crushing loss for Missy. The only way Missy felt she would improve in the lightweight division was to keep taking these girls on and beat them. Beating Ali Larter was a must-win for Missy in order to progress and beat other girls who had given her trouble like Jessica Biel, who was a prime target for her.

Ali Larter has had a busy year outside of the ring, not fighting since her last bout (and win) with Missy Peregrym, but still expresses a great deal of confidence in victory. Ali grins, “I'm still sticking with what I said before – Missy isn't an elite lightweight and won't be as long as I'm around. Since she came up into the division, I have been beating her down and I am going to keep beating some respect into her until she learns her lesson. Right now, the lesson is that I'm better, I'm 2-0 and just watch – Missy P. is about to get dosed again! Gonna make it 3-0, baby!”, holding up three fingers. Missy Peregrym's eyes flash angrily upon hearing Ali's comments, but maintains her cool and composure up on the podium - “I haven't forgotten our fights or my losses to Ali, but I've learned a completely different lesson than the one she expected me to! The lesson I've taken away from all of this is try, try again and tonight, I'm going to succeed. There is no way Ali is going up 3-0 on me. I'm here to overcome that loss by taking her down! That is SO happening tonight!”

Ali Larter in a black bikini with horizontal red stripes with black gloves – blonde hair falling to shoulders; Missy Peregrym in a white sports bra with baby blue bikini bottoms – white gloves and hair in a ponytail. Missy loose before the match, determined to make this Christmas a better one after her previous two losses in December to Larter.

R1: Missy sets the tone for this contest early, circling around her blonde tormentress, ringing up her ribcage and torso with steady hooks and jabs. Peregrym building herself into a rhythm, just pounding her glove upwards, swinging it from her hip to drive into Larter's torso, just behind her elbows as Ali tries to keep her guard up. Ali getting in some offense as well, blocking or weaving away from many shots, then dipping down low to rip some hard shots into Missy's tummy or stroking her gloves across Missy's chest as aggressively as possible. But, Missy keeps establishing herself behind a rangy, stiff jab to force Ali to stumble backwards into the ropes and as Larter's back hits the ropes, Missy delivers a sharp hook into blonde belly to double her over a bit. Peregrym displays smart boxing and controls Ali for points to take round 1.

R2: Missy looks to continue boxing smart and patiently in the second round, baiting Ali forward and then sending her gloves across Ali's head and shoulders as Larter quickly goes earmuff in defense. Missy pounds in that left jab, then dropping down to pound stout right hands, whipping right across her opponent's torso and ribcage. Missy continuing to push forward with good footwork and punishing hooks, but Ali fights back with ringing right hands and pushing back against Missy, trying to make her take her weight. Missy pivots away from trouble, remaining defensively sound as she keeps slamming in her glove into Ali's body to wear her opponent down to widen her lead on the cards and continue this steady battle of attrition.

R3: Ali comes out firing, swinging aggressively, shoving Missy backwards and slugging towards Peregrym's abs. Bumping her opponent back out of position, Ali pumps her fists down towards Missy's abs, just swinging her fists back-and-forth to punish along Missy's flank. Larter bodying up, trying to rally after the first two rounds busted her up, pushing Missy backwards against the ropes with big-girl pushes. Forcing Missy backwards, but Missy keeps poking out with that jab, even as she's backpedaling. Establishing the jab behind the left, she then drills Larter with a straight right that has her stumbling backwards. Missy shuts down the rally as Ali is rocked and from that point on, in minute two, Missy takes over! Missy circling around her opponent again, darting in, battering her gloves along Larter's torso, then once again switching her attacks up top to clean up along her chest, shoulders and face. Larter forced to sponge up the punishment as Missy takes yet another straight round.

R4: Ali's eyes are filled with fury, obviously eager to renegotiate things on her terms as the match as not been going her way thus far. However, Peregrym is not in the mood to negotiate and is determined to dictate the terms of this engagement. It's a bitter exchange between the two, but Missy pours on the pressure. Ali tries to send her gloves smacking up towards Missy's head and shoulders, but finds the gloves bouncing off of Missy's biceps instead as Peregrym dips down low, ripping off rapid-fire shots to Larter tummy, torso and tits. Just pounding away as she slips in an uppercut, Missy clipping Larter cleanly across the chin as Peregrym's head swivels. Larter wobbly-butt as Missy comes in to clean up, just lathering with rangy jabs across her tummy and head to just batter her foe to the finish line at the bell, just battering her foe into compliance. Ali's sturdy legs shake as she heads to her corner, clearly getting frustrated.

R5: Once again, Ali is bound and determined to negotiate, but Missy is not in the mood. There is no room for debate and no room between the two of them, as Missy just slams her shoulder into Ali and ragdolls her back towards the ropes. Stacking her up in the first minute, then dipping in some hooks that just ring off of Ali's temples, sending her stumbling along the ropes. Ali appears a little rusty as she has certainly kept herself in fighting condition over the past year, but is getting busted up pretty thoroughly now that she's back in the ring with a fighter like Missy P! Ali is systematically getting taken apart, with Missy just banging away, catching her with chin-checking uppercuts and hooks that pound at her body. Ali is dazed, swaying a bit along the ropes as Missy leans forward, pressing her forehead and gazing with cool determination into Larter's face, then shoving her backwards in a shove as the bell rings. So far, it's been all Missy taking her opponent back through 5 rounds.

R6: Ali is down, but clearly not out, coming back out and ready to take it to her brunette rival. Ali seeks to rally once again, but Missy shows her focus in battering down any attempts at a comeback. Missy pushing forward behind that punishing jab and still eager to pound away with rangy right hooks to the body, eager to beat Ali's body into submission. However, Ali keeps stuffing that left hand down into Peregrym tummy, pounding away with leather that smacks loudly into torso and rib, making Missy wince. Peregrym pivots to the side and as Missy dips her guard down low, Larter sends her right hand clubbing down from overhead. Catching Missy across her cheek and temples, Peregrym is clearly dazed. Staggering to the side, Peregrym shakes her head as Larter keeps alternating attacks – first down low and then switching up top to ring Missy along her cheek. Missy is stumbling, struggling to keep up with the constantly switching offense as Ali here as something she can build on hopefully for the next round.

R7: It would appear that Ali has as Missy is still shaking off the effects of the previous round, getting used to Ali's adjustments as she is coming off of the jab towards her head. In addition, Ali increases the tempo, as Larter keeps crowding and shoving Missy backwards. Clubbing overhand with her right, clouting Missy across her cheek and then pumping in low with her left, forcing Missy to try to keep up. Missy is frustrated, trying to send some swift uppercuts to blonde tummy or sternum, but the pattern continues with Missy getting ringed up by the pressure from Larter. Missy is bodied back up to the ropes, Larter getting more confident down the stretch as her glove smacks up towards Missy's face. As Missy sits in the ropes for a moment, recovering, face-in-gloves, Larter slams in her gloves into Missy's torso, right underneath her breasts, trying to keep Missy on the defensive.

R8: It's a savage two way exchange between the two, but definitely professional in form, however. Larter slugging in, fists pumping down against Peregrym tummy, trying to set up for that devastating overhand shot. Peregrym firing back, ripping away at her foe's flank with digging right hooks, just drilling leather into Larter's ribcage. Both of them trading determined blows as Missy seeks to stabilize her front as Larter's has pounded her way back into this fight. Larter scrubbing in shots across Missy's chest and torso, but Peregrym slamming in short, stout uppercuts to Ali's chin to daze her foe. Brunette bodies up against Ali, outworking her and bullying her back to ropes, just twisting side to side to pound at Larter's body with intensity. Larter trying to slam in that overhead hook, but Missy weaving away from it and punishing Larter down the stretch with repeated short shots to body that has Ali groaning out and Missy breathing hard from the vicious back-and-forth this round.

R9: Another bitter battle between the two as they both go toe-to-toe, locking themselves into a phone booth and appearing to have no intentions of leaving the booth until one of them is subjugated. Both fighters locked in a stalemate, just battering away at each other with biting hooks, drilling in with brutal-looking jabs and just digging into one another. Both of them pressed in close, grinding away at one another, neither looking to give an inch as they batter at one anothers torso and try to clout each other across the head. Pushing forward as Ali keeps clubbing forward, dipping down low and showing good judgment, managing to catch Missy across the cheek as one overhand cross chops down hard. Missy's eyes widening, head swiveling as Ali keeps swinging in those forearms into Missy's ribcage and then ripping another right cross into Missy's cheek. Missy going wobbly-butt as another clubbing shot sends her spilling down face-first to the canvas as MISSY IS DROPPED! Ali raising both arms into the air as the bell rings, leaving Missy sprawled out on the canvas. Regardless of the bell, Missy does beat the count to crawl towards her corner and shaking her head, shocked as Ali pounds her way back in a big way to the match. Missy blinking as she knows she can't suffer any heartbreaking loss to Ali, clearing her head and renewing her determination as she makes her way back to her feet off of the stool, her usually sturdy thighs shaking. Ali looking confident, eyes blazing as she stares across at Missy, scuffed-up and hurt, but feeling like she's taken control of the contest.

R10: Ali just charges across the ring before Missy can push herself free of her corner, Larter pouring it on as she comes swinging, just clubbing through with those forearms to batter at Peregrym's torso. Missy wilts under the initial charge, stumbling along the ropes and going earmuff as Larter slams in her gloves towards Missy's head, but Missy keeps her guard up as the blows slam into her shoulders and arms instead. Stroking in shots towards Missy's ribcage to draw her guard in lower, but Missy charges off of the ropes and slams her shoulder into Larter's cleavage, clinching as she wraps her arms around Ali's waist. Not just for support, but Missy tries spinning Larter into the ropes. Larter won't have it – sending her glove crashing into Missy's cheek. Missy holding on, but once she realizes she won't be able to twist herself into control, starts swinging wildly towards Larter's jugs and face, poking away at Larter's face to try to push herself free. Ali keeps pushing forward all big-girl off on Missy, putting the blonde girl on top. Ali pounding away as Missy alternately clinches and then rips towards Larter's torso, trying to leg her way to freedom. Larter keeps pushing Missy backwards and pinning her brunette rival butt-in-ropes, just brawling her heart out. Missy keeps fighting back and somehow, manages to stay upright as Ali can't get her opponent off of her feet. Ali just ripping away, scrubbing at Missy's cleavage and stacking her upright, trying to keep pounding at Missy. Missy hitting her with a shot across the cheek, but Larter keeps on coming as Missy slumps in the ropes and finally, the bell rings. The ref pulls Larter off with some effort as she keeps on the pressure. It's clear that Ali took the tenth round, but in regards to the match – it's all come down to this! The cards came back and the ref comes over to raise the winner's hand – it's a one point decision in favor of....MISSY PEREGRYM, leaving Ali furious with her heart-breaking loss.

AFTER: Ali certainly came on hard down the stretch, but simply dug herself too deep a hole to get out against a fighter of Missy's caliber. Missy's pride and determination kept her upright against a very focused effort from Larter, especially in those last few rounds, to award her the win. Missy is scuffed-up, bruised and dazed but clearly excited to have finally scored a win against one of her biggest rivals here in the lightweight division. Missy considers going over to speak to Larter after the round, but the look in Larter's eyes suggest that wouldn't be wise as Ali storms out of the ring, furious about losing by “one single point” and telling reporters in the days to follow that Missy may have won, but didn't knock her out. That'll be something for Missy to resolve in the future, but for now, Peregrym finally heads into the new year with a win over Ali freakin' Larter. Missy beaming out at the crowd, pumping her fist, smiling as she states: “I know I'm not finished with Ali, but this is huge. HUGE! I have to beat girls like Ali if I'm going to be the force at lightweight that I know I can be and this is just the start. I've got to take down girls like Palicki, Cole, Cuoco, Nichols, Biel and even Yvonne on a regular basis to really get this division where I want it! Tonight is the start of that and now, I'm ready to move on up!” It's a big accomplishment for Missy, finally defeating one of her most vexing opponents to get that particular blonde monkey off of her back (for now) and hopefully this does lead to bigger and better things for her against future rivals at lightweight.
