"The New Year's Eve Body Paint Fight Night"

Before: Similar, kinetic fighters. Scerbo a masterful combination puncher; Hayden a li'l digger. Throw in a war of words, pranks and one official fight two years ago, and you have one of the most anticipated bouts of the year. Cassie has the advantage, and is merciless in her critiques of her rival. Oddly enough, the despite making fun of her fashion sense, weight, acting ability, singing and love life, before venturing into a slew of “Hayden’s Momma” jokes, the one topic she steers clear of is her fighting ability. It’s a mark of respect, when looked at through a certain perspective.

It’s one that Hayden is oblivious to. “I can’t wait to get my hands on her again! She‘s not an easy out or anything, but that means she stay up long enough that I‘m finally going to be able to give her the beating she deserves!” Between Cassie’s gadfly antics and stablemate Sarah Carter’s continued references to her as “my gatekeeper,” Panny’s under immense pressure. The chance to manhandle rivals Vanessa Hudgens and Scerbo back-to-back is a welcome catharsis.

Purple triangle cut bikini top for Hayden, a light blue “tie-side” bottom half marked with purple dolphins, white gloves. Black singlet base with flames up the front & back for Cassie, black gloves. Both blondes with their hair in messy ponytails.

R1: Hayden comes out looking to chase down another floater, eats a chopping right to chin, putting her wobbly-butt. Cassie darts back outside, circles to her right, feints like she's coming in righty, then hops in close with short left hook to chin. Panny reeling, hitting ropes in astonishment. Scerbo pounces, looping an overhand right off Hayden's brow, hopping-right while hooking lefty. Panny spellbound, Cassie hopping in front of her, kissing her a right upside the head. As Panny pushes off the ropes in the second minute, Scerbo jabs the body, then splits Hayden’s guard with a left hook to chin. Cassie steps to her right, Panny topples forward, spilling to canvas chest-down at Cassie's feet. Scerbo sets her foot on Hayden’s back, posing until the ref bodies her off. Cassie dominates bell-to-bell as Hayden takes her worst licking this year.

R2: Hayden’s solution to Cassie’s combination punching? Volume. Rapid-fire punching preempting her fight plan, Scerbo accepts the challenge, going shoulder to shoulder with her rival. Bitterly fought round as both girls are shipping hurt at a JMD pace. Whirling melee sees the initiative change hands repeatedly. Fighter circling in close quarters mid-ring as neither woman attempts to hold canvas, exploring tummies and ribcages bell-to-bell.

R3: Nobody’s really tried to hustle-punch with Hayden for the last couple of years, but Cassie’s willing to give it a go. Phone-booth firefights mark this round. Cassie backs Hayden into the ropes, rattles her with hooks to the paunch. Hayden shoves her backwards, puts two to the tits, one to the head to stagger her back to midring. Panny coming forward always a sight to behold as she pressures Scerbo to the opposite ropes. Ponytails fly picturesquely as they swing-reverse twice in the final minute, little blondes ecstatic when dishing it out, stoic under fire.

R4: Furious two-way digging continues. As long as Cassie’s willing to let Hayden work her over, Panny’s willing to absorb the receipts. Midring forehead-to-forehead trading, shoving and bumping, fighters struggling for room more than anything else, eventually moves to Scerbo’s half of the ring, as Panny has that extra touch. Action still almost entirely focused on the body, black spots starting to show on Hayden’s gloves, while Scerbo’s are spotless.

R5: Hayden comes roaring out of the gate, strafing in a criss-cross pattern, slugging Cassie into the ropes. Scerbo alarmed, stunned, trying to slap back punches, but she's getting TAGGED as Panny cuts in and out. In the final minute, Scerbo's suddenly crisp right cross beats Hayden’s put-her-away right uppercut, head-snaps back and PANNY GOES DOWN! Hayden sprawled on all fours, quick to get up this time. Cassie suddenly all better in the neutral corner. ON COMES HAYDEN! Whirling mayhem ensues, Panny just butt-back and letting her hands go, whirling, savage assault meeting Scerbo's prepared defenses, fading back into ropes. She bounces off the ropes, connects with a sneaky uppercut that PUTS HAYDEN DOWN AGAIN! Bell saves her as Cassie takes the round 10-7. She’s only taken two rounds so far, but still ahead on the cards.

R6: Shaking off one of her worst rounds, Hayden’s had enough of this, finds a higher gear. Whirling fists connecting to head and chest as she moves her flame-covered foe back. No pretense this time, Cassie truly is disheveled, reeling to ropes. Panny gets her shoulder on Scerbo’s chest, plugging her way into Cassie’s tummy. Hayden shoves herself off, throws a go-home uppercut that catches all of Scerbo’s chin. Cassie bounces off the ropes, falls forward onto the canvas. Count a formality as Hayden chalks up the KO6 with unrelenting hustle-punching.

After: Chest heaving, eyes blazing, Hayden toes Cassie onto her back, straddles her but thinks better of whatever she was pondering. She’s just evened things out between them in the ring, but nobody in their right minds thinks things are over between these two. Panny plays it classy, acknowledging her fans as she leaves the ring.
