Before: Clarkson embarrassed last time out against Harnois--Kelly working double-hardin camp to get redemption. “I’m so sick of watching tape of that fight,” chagrined Kelly says in preflight, “but it was important to me to see the mistakes I was making. I was walking in, making the fight--but SHE was getting off first--and I was LETTING her! That’s not going to happen this time--I know what to do, I know how to close on her and take the fight to her without getting dinged up. I’m definitely going to take care of Beth’s business in this fight!” Elisabeth doing a brisk business in “Kelly-Killer” caps and t-shirts--Harnois milking the moment, loving her role as thorn in the Idols side, “As dominant as I was the first time around,” Beth preens at the dais, “I saw some things that I could do better. I basically win the fight with my jab--and that was fine--but the right hand was there for me all night long and I didn’t take it nearly enough. I learned from the first fight that I can knock Kelly out--there I said it, I’m promising you all, right here, right now: I will batter Kelly Clarkson and knock her out in this rematch! Make sure you print that--I’m looking at YOU Archer. Every word!”

Clarkson in pretty blonde curls, forest green bikini top with yellow ring connection, yellow/green ivy-print bottoms, twist-tie sides. Harnois in black bikini, jade ring connections, hip and jug. Ring instructions: girls go to touch gloves--Beth’s left mitt and stuffs square to jug: mayhem ensues, delaying the fight.

During R1: Kelly making good adjustments from the first fight--all that gym work showing immediate improvement. Clarkson crouching, waving her head side to side, jabbing up at Harnois’ face so Beth can’t hang back and potshot with impunity. Beth herded to the ropes where she covers up, standing too tall: Kelly able to lavish blonde flanks with thudding rights and lefts in bludgeoning sequences. Fight traverses the ring--Kelly scooting after Harnois, chasing her down, then ringing her up until Beth can tie up or escape: whatever was broken, Kelly seems to have fixed in the first.

R2: More hard times for Harnois. She’s hounded to ropes, under constant threat--Kelly a jiggly little buzz saw of churning, bumping, roughhouse offense. Berth staying calm: she’ll show her left shoulder, planting her right leg strong on the apron, crouch a little, reach her hands in to Kelly’s biceps to push and jostle with her a bit, impeding r=the Clarkson assault, Berth bobbing, keeping her left hand at her temple, right across her gut--fairly good blocking scheme against Clarkson’s right hands to head, lefts to body. Still, Kelly’s pressure decisive: Harnois can’t get off the apron, can’t punch back and meanwhile, she’s taking a thumping to her chest, arms and ribs. Clarkson BEAMING en route to her corner: this is SO much better than last time!

R3: Harnois backpedaling, spearing her jab into Kelly’s face, falling off to either side in hopes of shaking Clarkson’s relentless pursuit. Kelly crossing her arms, bobbing her torso, coming forward--all she wants is Beth’s back against the ropes. Latter half of the round--Harnois leading right hands to Kelly’s chin, coming back a rangy hook--Clarkson a little befuddled, right hand stacked atop her left at her body as she straightens up., Beth stepping right, leaning into harder and harder right hands--suddenly dawns on the audience: KELLY’S HURT! Clarkson just stepping in fence post holes, taking torrid right crosses in her left eye, lifting her elbows to word off punches and staggering under the weight of Harnois’ pasting. Beth in wide stance, sloshing the sauce to Kelly--Harnois eyes like saucers as she pounds and pounds away. Down the stretch--Kelly staggering, eyes staring--she’s faltering backwards, Harnois lunging in with Buster Douglas rights and DOWN GOES KELLY! Clarkson dropped to her back near her corner--head hit’s the canvas/mouthpiece jumps off teeth--crowd ROARS to its feet. Happy Harnois bats mitts together,. Jumps away hands high in the air at the bell: Kelly shabby off the canvas collapses on her stool for the break--stunned and baffled by the turn around.

R4: Kelly’s all banged up--left eye swelling horribly: no let-up in Harnois as Beth moves in to finish. Kelly more available now--legs still a little shaky, head not moving so much: Harnois can pump her pushy little jab, dabbing it on Kelly’s face while motoring left. Harnois still not all the fluid or professional looking at times--but the lateral movement and commitment to jabbing doing the job: Clarkson covering up befuddled--still trying to clear her head as Harnois rakes her one-twos from outsider. Strong Beth round sees her pull ahead on the cards: discouraged Kelly slouches back to her stool for immediate enswell on that swollen left eye.

R5: Harnois just BANGING away right hands--touching Kelly a couple of jabs in the mouth to set her up, then splashing the haymaker upside Clarkson’s weary face. Kelly dazed, arms crossed at her body--head getting cranked hard to the right whenever Harnois leans in--Kelly’s legs proving very sturdy as she keeps her feet in a torrid first minute. Beth backs off in second minute--slightly punched-out: Kelly slowly over to the offense, trudging after Harnois and clawing her way back into the round. Later half the stanza sees Kelly crowd Harnois to the ropes, fighting off Beth’s chest to good effect. Harnois cupping her hands around Kelly’s ears, managing the pressure--frequently tucking Kelly’s head under one or the other Harnois armpit for front-headlock tie-uops, earning the ref’s break and stern warnings all at once.

R6: Kelly getting herself together. Face is a mess, left eye closed--but Clarkson resolute, crossing/uncrossing her arms, bobbing/weaving as she creeps forward to pressure Harnois around the ring. Beth jabbing, but not always snapping her left hand out there--Kelly able to weave it, or simply walk through it at times, getting to Harnois’ chest fairly easily. Beth’s butt in ropes, she’ll lean forward to put her head close to Kelly’s, reaching in to push down on Kelly’s hands, clap and swat at Kelly’s face and jugs little nuisance punches. Clarkson doing all the heavy lifting this round--smashing insistently at Beth’s lats and flanks, occasionally jamming away straight right hands to Harnois’ breasts, falling in to smother the receipt. Brawny stuff--Kelly righting the ship after weathering rough seas in the first half.

R7: Harnois loose limbed, bouncing in a wide stance--little fade backwards coaxes Kelly forward--then Beth bops forward, leans into a slinging right hand and CRACKS Kelly a beaut to the chin. POOR CLARKSON! Kelly soaking the shot, knees buckling--she pitches forward, rights herself, swaying hurt on her hips, eyes forlorn. Heartless Harnois pouncing with more right hands, crashing home to the left side of Kelly’s face, greasing Clarkson little curling hooks across the face. Kelly hits ropes in a fig, hands low, mouth open: curvy legs holding her up as Beth wades in, Merciless clean up: Harnois pushing her left shoulder into Kelly’s chest to prop her, then going to work with rangy, lathering rights and lefts--strapping Kelly to belly, flanks and chin with a methodical, stroking rhythm. Harnois cheekily going at Clarkson jugs with chamois-action scrubbing--just bumpitybump shoeshine in there as poor Kelly stoops forward, soaking it up. Clarkson wilting, sitting on the ropes, dropping forward in crossed-arm, leaning back in earmuff--just sponging up Beth’s nonstop barrage. Harnois not a big puncher and it shows--time and again she clouts Kelly’s chin with crowd-pleasing leverage, but Kelly’s backside and legs absorb the shock. Clarkson ALL busted up however--dazed and groggy at the bell--she shambles back to her corner wobbly-butt, deeply discouraged at the beating she’s taking. Harnois STOKED on her stool--corner fueling the fire with following exchange:

Trainer: “What do you want?”

Harnois: “More Kelly!”

Trainer: “WHAT DO YOU WANT?”:

Harnois: “MORE KELLY!”

R8: Kelly’s not processing--too hurt/discouraged to really follow instructions or remember her gym work: she’s just trudging forward in instinct, crouching, crossing her arms against her body, taking punches, Harnois snarling as she works, keeping her distance, rotating to the right, maliciously jabbing Kelly’s closed left eye and dropping harsh right hands on with moist spanks Beth in a nice rangy wide stance, extending beautifully on bandy-armed punches--Kelly’s not collapsing distance enough to disrupt Beth’s rhythm. Late the round, Harnois lands a gorgeous, clanging right to chin that stuns Clarkson--Kelly totters forward, weight out over her feet--once again she keeps her feet, reeling badly at the bell.

R9: Harnois winded--she’s been pouring the kitchen sink at Kelly and can’t get the nIdol out of there, battered Clarkson able to crowd Harnois to ropes--gritty infighting results as Beth plants her right leg at the apron, leans her left shoulder into Beth’s arms, bullying and mauling, rubbing her head across Beth’s face--good smothering/brawling tactics see Kelly get the better of her foe.

R10: Harnois stepping flat-footed, pushing out with her jab, turning Kelly midring, Clarkson’s head jerking back from poke--she’s just facing into the work, too tired and beat up at this point to evade it. Beth still dropping right hands, bending nicely into the punching motion: Kelly absorbing clapping impacts upside her head, thrilling the crowd at her ability to keep soaking these bombs. Still--it’s Beth scoring, Kelly taking--Harnois keeps at it, helping herself to Kelly to the bell, then chesting up to bellow in the Idol’s face as the ref moves in, Comes back UD10 Elisabeth Harnois!

After: She’s done it again--Beth Harnois upsets Kelly Clarkson for the second consecutive time, clearly exposing the bubbly singer with boxing basics and ringing right hands. Kelly devastated--all busted up, tearfully dazed in the aftermath--she’s quickly bundled out of the ring as Harnois taunts and mocks her beaten opponent without pity. “I told you I would expose Kelly!” Beth gloats in post fight. “I gave her twice the pasting I did last time! Kelly’s probably crying right now, and she’ll be crying all night--I love it! Did you see me put the chamois to her jugs (makes a little wiping ‘wax on, wax off’ motion with right hand)? THAT WAS AWESOME!” All part of the learning curve for young Kelly--pundits waiting to see how she comers back from the first real setback of her career. Hopefully, Archer can catch up with her and get the impressions for us.
