And so to the main event on this three fight card.

Challenger Miranda is the ACB bantamweight chamion, and she’s undefeated in BBU action, the proud owner of a peach of a right hook

Champion Sayuki is undefeated in BBU, and is proud to be defending her title in her home country. She wears a baby blue bikini for this event, and she’s looking full of confidence, despite giving away a couple of inches to her challenger.

Round 1

Neither girl wastes any time sizing the other up, and the swap shots in the centre of the ring, with Sayuki having to take Miranda’s lead before landing her own each time. Miranda’s using her height and reach well, snapping that jab into Sayuki’s mouth now, and she’s moving well, too, making Sayuki struggle and forcing the champion to hold on tight to stop the punches landing. Now sayuki gets to work at close quarters, getting her punches through and into Miranda’s body, but the taller girl withstands the attack by counter-punching, and she’s landing a lot of punches late in this opening round, punishing the champion with her left hand especially, and she’s taken that first round.

Round 2

The girls go at each other again, with Sayuki moving better now, getting inside Miranda’s lead, and she lands a few neat punches to the challenger’s face, before being forced to step back as Kerr nails her with a lovely left hook, then hits her to the ribs with her right, and she’s sensing that the champion’s on the run here, as she raps her backwards to the ropes. But Sayuki’s ready for Miranda when she gets in closer, and she hurts the Aussie with a good left, right to the body, and she steps aside to push her to the ropes instead, rips at her body, then eats Kerr’s left jab and backs away, looking shocked. In comes Miranda, bangs Sayuki with the left again, but the Japanese girl counters again, and she gives Miranda all she can take with a good attack to her body. Still Miranda won’t buckle, and she picks Sayuki off beautifully in the closing seconds, twisting her head on her neck.

Round 3

Miranda’s attacking quickly this time, sticking a couple of sharp jabs on Sayuki immediately, the Japanese girl stepping backwards, almost inviting Miranda to follow her and get her on those ropes. Kerr stays off, though, and it’s Sayuki coming forwards, takes a hard jab to the cheek, but lands to Miranda’s ribs, and doubles up her efforts, pushing the taller girl backwards with good punching, her fans cheering as she starts to pummel the Aussie, weakening her with two hefty left hooks to the liver, and Kerr’s gloves are dropping, her jaw dropping open. This is classic Sayuki power now, and she smacks a right hook into Miranda’s mouth, the tall girl dropping to the floor to take a count of 6, then she’s on her feet and covering up as Sayuki fires punches into her body once more, her chin tucked in nice and tight, though. Still Sayuki comes forwards, but Miranda’s using her height again, keeping her distance, jabbing the champion to keep her back.

Round 4

With Miranda blowing hard, Sayuki takes the initiative, takes a couple of sharp jabs to her cheeks again on the way in, but still comes forward, and she’s after the taller girl’s midsection again, punishing her as hard as she can. Again Miranda jabs and smacks her way out of trouble, but a hard right to her belly has her leaning down, makes her vulnerable, and the following left to the mouth puts her back on the floor, sprawling across the ropes as she falls. Up at 7 this time, Miranda’s nursing a fat lip, but still she trades with the shorter girl before getting tagged to the mouth again, and now she clinches, holds, and spoils. Sayuki isn’t happy, and she just can’t find a way past the taller girl’s defence now, her work becoming a little predictable and ragged, and Miranda starts to recover in the closing seconds, her jab finding it’s target once again, and Sayuki is looking a little worn around the eyes.

Round 5

Sayuki comes out refreshed, and she again looks for Miranda straight away, closes the taller girl towards a neutral corner, expecting her to wilt – but Miranda has other ideas, and she rips Sayuki with three unanswered left jabs, sends her spinning sideways, then gets her with a spanking one-two, the champion staggering backwards, unable to stop Miranda whipping that right hook of hers over the top of her guard, and this time it’s Sayuki on the canvas, on her back and dazed. The Japanese girl is up slowly at 8, and Miranda works her over against the ropes, Sayuki having to clinch this time, but she gets pushed back by the taller girl who snaps off another right hook, and there’s blood on Sayuki’s face – her nose has been cut, and she looks to her corner when Miranda sinks a couple of good punches into her belly, but they can’t help her, and she’s really struggling at the bell.

Round 6

Miranda’s beginning to take control of Sayuki now, and the Japanese girl just can’t land a punch, with the Australian just picking her off from distance, her left jab swiftly reopening that gashed nose, and in whips another right hand, right up and under Sayuki’s left tit, and she’s hurt her badly this time. Sayuki drops off, takes a left hook this time, and drops to her knees, the blood dribbling down her face, but she’s up at 7, still gasping though, and she’s hurt again by a right to her ribs. Sayuki’s staggering around the ring after that a little, and before she can fully recover, Miranda nails her, and the battered champion’s back on the ropes, where she gets thumped fairly savagely to the body, tries to counter, then gets dropped to the canvas again with a right hook to her jaw, beating the count at 8, but looking fairly sorry as the round draws to a close.

Round 7

Brave Sayuki is taking the fight right back to Miranda, the taller girl having to take evasive action, using her longer reach to keep the Japanese girl at bay, her jab now really stinging the girl, opening that split nose again, and her hooks to the body are giving Sayuki a taste of the pain she’s meted out do often. Still Sayuki tries to land her punches to Miranda’s body, but the girl’s on autopilot, getting picked off so easily, her face all bruised and swollen, and she gets smacked backwards again with a doubled up left jab, and she’s again on the ropes, takes a real buffeting to the body once more, then eats a right hook, her knees beginning to crumble, but she isn’t giving her belt up without a fight, and she stands in the centre of the ring, swaps punches yet again, gets beaten to the punch again, and returns to her corner even more bruised than she was at the beginning of the round.

Round 8

Despite being way behind on points now, Sayuki attacks Miranda immediately, racing into the taller girl, she does what she can to slow her down, but Kerr has her where she wants her again, and she wipes her face to the left, then to the right, and now Sayuki looks beaten. The referee looks like he might have to step in now, Sayuki’s head beginning to loll, but Miranda wants to do this job herself, and she rips in the right hook, smacks it on Sayuki’s mouth, and grins as the girl collapses, face down, at her feet, and there’s no need for a count – she’s out!

Result: Miranda Kerr knocked Sayuki Matsumoto out in round 8 to become the new BBU lightweight champion.

To beat Sayuki at any point is a triumph – to beat her senseless in front of her own fans and take her title is fantastic, and Miranda will surely prove herself a worthy champion.
