BEFORE: "Moon Bloodgood's just one of those women that brings out the compete in me," Milena grins in prefight. "I see her, and I want to get in the wrestling ring and get the three count; I want to go down to the beach and contest La Conquista with her; I want to arm-wrestle her, you know? It's just going to be a great fight - I'm super-pumped that we got her and I can't wait to defend my belts!"

Moon equally complimentary at podium, showing plenty of professional respect for the champ. "You guys might have been surprised by Govich's success," Moon says, "but none of us fighters were. She's a thunderous puncher and a great competitor, and I'll tell you what: becoming champion makes a girl that much better. I'll be fighting the best Milena Govich anyone's ever seen: that's a terrific challenge, and a terrific opportunity!"

R1: Girls circle-hop into position, then set up flat-footed gun-platform stances - weight on back (right) legs when not punching. Shifting clockwise pivots - Moon stooping to jab Milena's ribs, catching a check-jab back from Milena to left ear/jawline. Milena missing a chopping right; catching a stout right that misses chin, slamming to halt inside right shoulder instead. Milena sorting out Moon's jugs jab-jab; swinging right to chops turns Govich's head as Bloodgood stands her ground. Back and forth, methodical exchanges - fighters backing off after letting hands go - nobody willing to go all-in early. Down the stretch, Milena separates herself with a pulverizing jab - punching Bloodgood's head back twice in quick succession, ejecting the mouthpiece from Moon's mouth; slopping a tight right hand across jugs in the horizontal plane, then twisting to pound a similar left across jug...Milena torquing on tight, clubbing blows like Bas Ruten pounding the pads...thudding rack-whacks leave Bloodgood shaken, staring at bell. During the break - Moon stands rather than sitting - her elbows propped on the corner ropes behind her as seconds go to work.

R2: Similar methodical opening - girls exchanging crashing, howitzer jabs, negotiating terms. Milena looking to drop in a short-chopping right - just missing: Moon banging the body thick left/rights on the Govich waistline. Midway through, fighters exchange clubbing, wide right hands upside either head: Milena's legs give a shimmy as her hands drop...she poses chin-pretty for Moon's crashing hook and DOWN GOES GOVICH! Curling wallop taking Milena off her feet/putting her on her back with a crash...Moon jogging to neutral corner as Milena herky-jerks herself up off canvas. Blinking 8 Govich - she's hurt but alert: when Moon wades in to finish, she finds plenty of champion still standing there. Slam-bang trading at apron - Moon and Govich exchanging sledgehammer lefts and rights in horizontal arcs - each girl rocked in her turn as Moon can't find the off switch.

R3: Shutout Moon Bloodgood. Challenger stepping in with the jab, punishing Milena's face; stooping to ram-poke the ribcage. Govich forced into grudging retreat...it's not a rout, but Milena ineffective going backward...Moon able to walk her down; touch her the jab; feed her straight, palm-down rights amidships or jarring hooks up top. Milena standing too upright, fielding chin-checking hooks and getting moved to her left in shock - Govich's strong legs/backside hold her up, but it's Moon picking her shots, getting to the champion through 3.

R4: Govich trying to chop her jab into Moon's chest, lean close and carry the short right shovel-punch thick to breadbasket. Moon jabbing like a champ to Milena's mouth; hooking off the jab; driving home heavy right hands to the Govich rack as women take turns bullying each other. Milena separating herself late when she puts the hook on top of the right hand to Moon's body...Bloodgood slugged out of her set position, wincing eyes registering the weight of Milena's shot in the 4th.

R5: Moon finding Milena with that jab - punching the mouth/jolting Govich's head back...champ dazed/ staring, following several crashing pokes. RIGHT HAND, BLOODGOOD! Moon leans into a driving cross, buckling champion's knees...Govich's curvy legs hold her up but she reels backwards into ropes all staring eyes/parted lips. ON COMES MOON! Bloodgood wading in, putting her head in Milena's chest...grim siege of Govich begins as Milena desperately tries to tie up head-and-arm while Bloodgood writhes to keep hands free. Sort of a standing ground-and-pound...Moon pushing on Milena, getting a hand free, driving it tight to chin, slamming a forearm across breasts, struggling to wriggle free of brawny clutches. Govich busting up, bleeding from the nostrils...she's loosening up beneath her tormentress, catching harder and harder hits - her head tossing back over top rope, then lolling forward. Moon pumping tummy with thick right hands, sitting Milena in ropes, then slamming away up top - gorgeous work from Moon, just grinding away on a Milena. Down the stretch - Govich badly depleted, no longer able to impede Bloodgood...Moon pushing off, then opening up - HAMMERING short, crashing right/lefts across Milena's face as Govich goes limp in ropes! MILENA GOES DOWN! Govich asleep on her feet, getting her head bounced around - fists smashing off her slackened features...she tips to her left, sliding across ropes to crash onto her face...KO5 Bloodgood for the winner and NEW welterweight champion!

After: Moon stomping away all blood boiling/nostrils flaring...takes her several moments to recover her composure following traumatic bludgeoning of Milena G. "Props to Govich," Moon says graciously enough in postfight. "She brought the Big - came in strong, but you don't want to get tummy to tummy with Moon Bloodgood at the ropes! I had her hurt and I knew - I knew: you have got to finish Milena when you get chances, or it will come back to haunt you. She's got one-punch power, so you can never let her off the hook: once I saw she was shabby, I just committed myself to ending her night, or punching myself out. Fortunately for me, her legs gave out before my arms did!"
