PROVING GROUND PPV

BEFORE: Unlike a lot of the matches tonight, it's a different demeanor completely at the podium as both fighters exchange hugs, kisses on the cheek and even smiles. Security is able to step back and relax, which is a welcome experience for them. However, they do remain vigilant as things can turn heated in a hurry. But, it appears that Peregrym and Strahovski appear more than prepared to save their fighting for the ring, where they will be taking each other on for the first time surprisingly in both of their impressive boxing careers, but hearing them talk, it's clear both Missy and Yvonne hope it's not the last.

“I'm pretty excited to take on Yvonne! SO stoked really!” Missy beams in pre-fight, “We've sparred, wrestled and been in so many different competitions at the gym, that I can't believe that we're finally getting into the ring. But, it means a lot that we're facing off for the first time here! We've been working together for five years now in this field, which is notoriously competitive and we're still friends. I've been fighting for respect since I got into this league – first from all of the fighters at bantamweight, who didn't think I had what it took and once I proved them wrong, I set my sights higher at lightweight. I've been taking on the best at this weight and I've even held the straps, but you've got to keep winning to keep people respecting you. I know Yvonne respects me and I respect the hell out of her, but there is no way I'm going to do anything but WIN tonight!”

Yvonne smiling over at her stablemate, clearly just as enthusiastic, “I'm extremely pumped to take on Missy, who like she said, has taken a lot to get to where she is today! I've been competing hard since I came into the FCBA and that isn't going to stop anytime soon! Not tonight especially. Missy and I have competed so many different times and so many different ways that this is going to be a real challenge in the ring, but you know me, I'm up for a challenge anytime! This is going to be a battle between us, I'm sure of it, because she is definitely one of the fighters I respect the most. But, it's because I respect her that I'm going to bring it and if I bring all I've got, I just know I'm going to take Missy down tonight!” Certainly neither fighter lacking in either respect for their opponent or confidence in their own abilities.

Missy wearing an orange sports bra with red trim around the edges and matching short shorts – with orange gloves and hair in a fighting ponytail; Yvonne wearing a white sports bra and a pair of baby blue shorts with white mitts and blonde hair in a tight ponytail. Both Missy and Yvonne stare each other down, all business and neither of them backing down as they touch gloves and head back to their respective corners before the fight as the crowd cheers loudly for the final match of the night.

R1: Both fighters emerging from their corners, circling around each other cautiously for the opening few seconds, before pouncing forward aggressively as they throw caution to the winds. Yvonne pumping her jab forward from a wide stance and just chopping in pursuit of Missy's ribcage. Missy, however, is surprisingly, the busier of the two and feints a bit, setting up hard right hands that bite down into blonde tummy. Missy deploying buggywhip right hands off of her hips to batter at Strahovski's abs and whack into her flank, backing Yvonne up towards that ropes at the start of the round. In the second minute, Yvonne's power shows through, bouncing her mitts with stunning rights and lefts off of Missy's toned abs. It's Missy's turn to back up under the assault, but responds in kind in the final minute as she circles clockwise around Yvonne, ripping hooks into her belly and then sending out a few hard head punches to batter Strahovski backwards in a seesaw first round, with advantage going to Missy.

R2: Missy and Yvonne meet in the middle of the ring again to negotiate terms, but once again, it's Missy who is dictating them to start things off. Missy pressing the attack, popping out the jab, bobbing and weaving to avoid the powerful shots Yvonne is sending out. Missy hops forward, pumping in right hands into Yvonne's body and left hands whipping upwards, crashing across her cheek. Yvonne squaring away, though, coming up the middle with a combination of one-two punches that hammer into Missy's chest and body, trying to body her backwards. Yvonne delivering out swift shorts to torso as she tries to smother her foe against the ropes, but Missy fights off the ropes with some penetrating jabs at Yvonne's chest and then stroking along her tummy, belting into her breadbasket as Yvonne is forced to counter-punch in retreat. It's almost a mirror of the first, with Missy bookending the rounds, winning the first and third minutes while Yvonne controls the middle.

R3: Missy came prepared tonight and it shows as she surges across the ring, pouncing on Yvonne before she can even really get off the ropes. Poking and pounding at blonde features, just punching Strahovski out of position as she is pressed back into the ropes. Yvonne hating the feel of the ropes at her back, unable to use her legs to pivot around Missy as Peregrym stays atop her. Missy pressing her body down on top of Yvonne, making her take weight, using those powerful arms to lather at her waist, stroking down with some vicious hooks behind her elbow and really digging into blonde tummy. Yvonne bumping Missy backwards with her shoulder, clinching and chopping at her ribcage to try to pivot away from the ropes. But, Missy won't let Strahovski escape as Peregrym pastes across pretty blonde face, delivering a stunning shutout in the third, preventing Yvonne from using her speed or legs to take away any advantages she might have.

R4: Yvonne is able to leg her way out of the corner this time, but Missy doesn't slow down for a moment and if anything, picks up her tempo. Missy hopping forward with some straight jabs behind a feint, landing some hard shots that come in from some surprising angles and then following up with some hard uppercuts into blonde gut. Yvonne doubling over a bit, but showing good resistance, trying to use her legs to step around Missy to turn her out of position and pre-empting Missy's own jabs with some short, but effective hooks to her ribcage and scrubbing shots across her chest to back Missy up, if only momentarily. Missy continues to hound Yvonne all around the ring, just whacking at her flank and hammering with hooks to body that continues to bully her blonde foe through four. It's clear Yvonne has underestimated Missy thus far and has to get more aggressive.

R5: Yvonne is used to being the aggressor in a contest of this nature and is determined to get back to doing that against her stablemate. Yvonne picks up the tempo, circling clockwise to the outside, establishing the jab and pumping it forward, alternating between head and body. Punching down to her tummy with her left, Yvonne catches Missy off guard with a hard, swatting right to Peregrym's chin. Missy's head swivels to the side and the rest of her body follows, crashing to the canvas and PEREGRYM IS DOWN! Peregrym is up with relative quickness, shaking her head, but this was only the first minute and what follows is a brutal two minutes. Yvonne struggling the first few rounds and now, works to unleash that frustration on a suddenly rocked Missy. Yvonne is delivering a constant barrage of rights and lefts to Peregrym's tummy, using her legs and extending behind the shots to really put her weight behind it. Strahovski shoving Missy back to the ropes as the ropes bite into smooth brunette back and now, it's Missy's turn to take Yvonne's weight as Vonnie gets on top! Yvonne delivers a savage beating, really pouring it on until the bell manages to put a stop to it as Yvonne gets back into the match in a BIG way with the knockdown and subsequent thrashing.

R6: Strahovski coming out confident now, systematically striking and circling around Missy to punish her brunette foe. Pounding away at her defenses, Yvonne follows up on the beating she delivered last round with more of the same. Missy forced to go earmuff, fighting back in spots, but mostly just working to stay upright as Yvonne is stalking Missy for points. Yvonne is hounding her into the ropes, ripping her with uppercuts and clouting her with crosses that have Missy wobbly-butt throughout. Missy still countering and competing, but Yvonne is doing her best to really punish Missy with repeated stuffing shots to body and smothering her in her own corner, stacking her up and then ripping away at her tummy and torso without any mercy whatsoever. It's another big round for Yvonne here as if Yvonne didn't have Missy's respect before, she certainly does now.

R7: Missy tries to engage Yvonne on the outside, seeking to negotiate once again and get back to what worked so successfully in the early going. Both girls getting touched up in vicious trade, as Missy shows stubbornness and staying disciplined, countering from behind her guard and shrugging in some short, compact uppercuts to tummy and offending jug. Yvonne rocks her in minute two with a sharp double hook that crashes across her cheek as Missy goes wobbly-butt, almost toppling over but hits the corner with a thud. Slumping down against it, she almost wishes she'd hit the canvas for a few second's respite as Yvonne doesn't give her any. Yvonne pouncing forward with buggywhip right and left hands across her waist, scrubbing along her tummy and pitching Missy forward. Missy slumps down as Yvonne picks Missy up with some clipping uppercuts across her chin, then pounding down to her ribs as Missy is clearly rocked. Missy struggling to stay upright, blinking, not much coming back but is brave, managing to keep up her guard despite the devastation and remaining upright. However, as Yvonne drills in another right cross across her cheek that buzzes her legs, she knows she's lucky to survive the round as the bell rings. Blistering eye contact between the two as they separate.

R8: Missy comes out wary after a brutal seventh round, clearly wary and reluctant to be aggressive, moving with her legs and keeping her gloves upwards to prevent any more shots to her head. Yvonne's eyes narrow, just moving slickly around Peregrym, maneuvering on the outside as she pumps her mitts down into Missy's throbbing torso. Missy groaning out, trying to leg herself out of trouble and showing her determination by stuffing in some shots behind blonde elbow. But, Missy continues to be busted up by some jabs that drive down into her ribcage, opening up her defense atop as Strahovski slams in some overhead hooks that have her dazed yet again. Yvonne favors a more conservative attack plan this round, but it's no doubt effective as Missy tries to blink away the pain, cradling her ribs and trying to cover up her head as Yvonne keeps toggling it with that right jab, forearm extending to daze Missy as she stumbles to her corner and Yvonne takes another round.

R9: Yvonne is really getting into a rhythm, displaying classy boxing behind the jab that keeps flicking out the jab and stuffing in shots that penetrate Peregrym's guard, popping into her face and her head snapping backwards. Yvonne then tests Missy along the waist, driving in with leather spanking across her ribs that have Missy dropping her guard and opening her up top again for another vicious hook. Missy looking dazed as Yvonne uses her legs to her advantage, ragdolling Missy backwards into the ropes but Missy countering effectively with her back against the ropes. Missy absorbing the punishment, then dishing some of her own in response. Missy managing to drive her right hand to Yvonne's gut, then rips a left-right combination of blows across Yvonne's head. Wrapping her arms around Strahovski, chesting up against her and twisting to spin her against the ropes. Getting on top, Missy unleashes a torrent of cuffing right and left hooks across her foe's tits and tummy, then jabbing hard into Yvonne's face. Vonnie is definitely hurt in the exchange, punching back with some jabs to keep Missy from cleaning up, but Missy keeps Yvonne trapped and a late display of power has her slumped in the ropes, soaking up punishment as Missy steals the round.

R10: Both fighters come forward, knowing this fight will be determined in this final round between the two as it's been a very unpredictable match thus far. Both of them engaged in a vicious and brutal trade in a phone booth in the center of the ring, rotating and pivoting around opposing fighter, clanging away with rangy rights and shrugging in sneaky left uppercuts repeatedly to batter away at their defenses. Bouncing mitts off of tight tummy and slamming in shoulders to shove each other out of position, they lean in and spank leather off of each other's fit bodies, putting their power on full power as they battle towards the finish line. But, in the middle minute, Missy managing to slip underneath Yvonne's guard to deliver a gorgeous right uppercut that puts YVONNE DOWN! Yvonne legs buckle and crash to her back, sprawling down onto her back as she looks up at the lights, blinking as she rolls her to her side, getting up shabby at 8. Yvonne is far too proud to take a KO and sleep, especially against Missy, but she's clearly rocked and Missy knows it. Missy knows she can't take her foot off the pedal know, chugging forward with strapping right and lefts that lash across Yvonne's tummy, torso and tits. Yvonne may be dazed, but she refuses to buckle and mounts a surprising counter attack to pound at Peregrym's body. But, Missy continues to impose will, even if she can't break Yvonne's and keeps chopping away at Yvonne's trim waist repeatedly and without mercy. Missy kicks ass until the bell with constant pressure and it's Missy on top as the round ends, stuffing in an extra right hand at the bell. The match goes to the cards, but it's Missy who comes out victorious with a competitive UD10!

AFTER: Matches like this are definitely worth waiting for as two of the top ten lightweights in the division put on a classic contest. This was a fantastic back-and-forth matchup with Missy racing out to a commanding lead, only for Yvonne to build to a lead on her after some punishing and amazing series of rounds. Missy is able to rally, however, with a thrilling comeback to close out the match and the show strong!

Both Missy and Yvonne scuffed up, showing signs of the punishing pace of this lightweight match. Yvonne surprisingly gracious after she recovers and clears her head in the corner, coming over to give Missy a hug in the middle of the ring. The two of them exchanging hugs, gingerly of course, as their ribs are throbbing and toned bodies in general are pretty sore. Taking an opportunity to whisper into Missy's ear in the ear and Missy whispers back though it's absolutely not audible. So, it's unclear as to the nature of the discussion, whether it's plans for a rematch (which appears to be a definite between these two), some last-minute trash-talking or judging by the looks on their faces as the two of them gently separate, some well-deserved congratulations.

Yvonne speaks highly of Missy to the press, stating that “if there was any question that Missy should remain up in the mix with the lightweights, that's done for now, after such an epic match and win for her. Nobody works harder than Missy, besides myself and clearly, I'm going to work even harder to finish her off next time! Congratulations to her!” Yvonne is clearly a little (or a lot) frustrated by her loss to her stablemate, but is all class in giving Missy credit for the win.

Missy gushes in the post-fight to the press, beaming as she pumps her fist into the air and is clearly excited: “That is exactly what I expected, hoped and trained for! This was one of the toughest fights of my career and Yvonne made me work for everything tonight! Yvonne didn't give anything away, except a hell of a beating and I'm still impressed that I won! But, like I've said before, when I step into a match, I give it my best and when I'm at my best, I am freaking amazing and there's not a girl in this division that I can't beat! If I can beat Yvonne, I can beat anybody! Bring – it – on!” as Missy flexes her forearm to show off for a moment.

Yvonne decides to head out to let Missy enjoy the spotlight as the ref comes over to raise her hand in victory, but Peregrym catches Strahovski before she can exit the ring. Missy grins as she has the ref raise both of their hands in one of the most wide publicized shots of the entire night as it proves to be a crowd-pleasing show of sportsmanship as Yvonne and Missy stand, hands upraised to receive some of the biggest cheers of the entire PPV! Yvonne classy, even in defeat and Missy definitely showed what she was made of tonight – in more ways than one - in one of the biggest wins of her career.

For the final match of the night, the crowd shows it's appreciation for a night full of rivalries – based on a number of factors like jealousy, hatred, respect and above all, competition to be the best. Despite the name of this event, none of the fighters – especially not Yvonne or Missy – really had anything to prove. Pretty cool.
