BEFORE: Obviously Laura V's gorgeous enough to make a variety of fights...why take the toughest out in boxing? "I love challenges," Laura smiles in prefight. "I went right at Missy and Charlize; on the beach I was known for my compete, and I didn't want to campaign at bantam and NOT fight Evangeline! It's kind of fun actually - in Canada, I fought out of Toronto while Lilly tended to hug the West Coast...this is sort of the Canadian version of a New York/LA type contest! Really looking forward to it."

Lilly similarly upbeat and cordial - fighters being respectful, professional with each other in prefight. "Laura's obviously improved a lot from our Canadian Circuit days," Evangeline allows, "but she's still got a lot of problems coming in against me. I look at that Menounos fight, and if Laura couldn't take Maria's pressure...you guys can do the math. I just think once I get to her ribcage consistently, the fight's basically over. Sucks to be Laura, but there it is."

Laura in midnight blue bikini (ITB2); powder blue mitts; long blonde hair straight and loose. Evangeline in neon lime green bikini with dark-green pointilist print; yellow gloves; slick brown battle braid.

During R1: Lilly rushes Laura to ropes, putting head in blonde chest, using hands to push inner-elbows and hips...classic shove-and-slug initiated as Laura's gets ragdolled in the pocket. Vandervoort grimacing, grunting from the shock of Lilly's mitts drumming on ribcage; tying up after absorbing thumping belly-blows. Laura trying to slug her way off the ropes - chopping short rights at 'Vangie's jaw line, but not moving Lilly - brunette able to maintain position, pressure in a bruising first.

R2: Laura loosens Lilly's knees early on - pre-emptive left uppercut to chin as Evangeline's boring in...brunette rocked, forced into bobbing crouch as blonde girl rotates clockwise around shocking chin-check. Laura just a-PUMPIN' that left jab - lips curled off her teeth as she douses Lilly in poke. Brunette turning, mitts curled into her mouth as she's bobbing on the spot - Laura's left hand pounding pate and shoulders, keeping Vangie outside. Rail-straight right hands from Laura strafe across Lilly's face or pate, setting up a gorgeous, supple, whip-snatching left hook Laura's snapping off Lilly's gut...blonde girl making the most of a good situation here, shutting Lilly out after ringing her up early.

R3: Bobbing approach for Lilly - she's pawing her left hand, trying to set up on Laura's chest. Blonde legs lithe, lively - she's hopping clockwise, turning Lilly midring - even putting palms-on-shoulders to shunt 'Vangie to one side while sidestepping her. Middle minute sees Laura's up-tempo movement and pesky flurries gradually renegotiate terms - blonde girl encircling brunette midring as Lilly can't establish position. Down the stretch, RINGING left uppercut picks Lilly up HARD: brunette picked up out of her crouch, eyes blinking in confusion...she's on her heels when Laura bends into the follow-on right cross, turning Lilly's head violently aside. Evangeline stumbling on her heels, backing into ropes...Laura all eyes a-blazing steps-to, tosses in a tapping one-two to get Lilly into earmuff, then OH, that scorching, whip-snatching left hook - Laura just snappin' that baby off paunch, leaving Lilly with a gut-shot grimace at bell.

R4: Similar pattern - Lilly aggressive early, bobbing forward, pressurizing Vandikins around the ring, but Laura's legs up to the challenge. Limber blonde girl loping clockwise around a pumping jab, constantly turning Lilly's right flank. Laura warned for pushing-off - getting her palms on Lilly's shoulders and shunting her to one side while sliding off to the other. Laura digging that gorgeous left uppercut off her lead (left) plant-leg - arching her back and really getting it in thick, breadbasket or chin. Lilly taking the power better this round, but she's being stymied here...Laura outworking Lilly to build a comfy lead through 4.

R5: Historians may one day write about this fifth round as the greatest of Laura's career, and the very worst of Lilly's as blonde girl POURS the hurt to a stupified brunette bell to bell. Starts when that wicked left uppercut picks Lilly up hard on approach, putting her wobbly butt, leaving her vulnerable to a pair of snatching, limber-limbed left hooks to ribcage that beat her breathless. Hurting and confused, Lilly tries to rumble forward, but Laura slides to her left, pounding away one-twos to right side of Lilly's face, spilling her sideways to ropes in a fog. Merciless pursuit from Laura as she bares her fangs, lets hands go in torrents: Lilly's head jolting back from multiple left/right connects...she covers up face-in-gloves, turns her left shoulder into ropes and sags as Laura drills right hands into presented right ear. Lilly sputtering along ropes...Laura stepping-with, measuring with the jab, then putting her back into whip-limbed shellack...crowd screaming as it seems Evangeline MUST go down under the assault. Incredibly, Lilly's legs hold her up, but OH, the pasting taken: Vandikins bell to bell, pouring her heart and soul into the annihilation of Evangeline Lilly. 'Vangie's nose bleeding at the bell, brows busting up, eyes glassy; Laura stepping back all chest heaving, eyes seething with KO lust. Goes 10-8 without the knockdown...Lilly stumbling into port as badly treated as she's ever been in a boxing ring - prompting Bonzo seconds to go into maximum repair-mode.

R6: Lilly badly depleted - unable to mount much forward pressure, shaky legs unable to hold canvas whenever Laura pushes Vangie in the shoulders. Vandervoort staying disciplined, managing her energy well - she's walking Lilly down, putting hands on her, but not going wild here. Laura punishing ribs and tummy with that limber left hand - snatching hooks and uppercuts off Lilly's sturdy chassis to wick away brunette resistance. Lilly forming crossed-arm looks with right hand at left cheek/right hand at left elbow, protecting her from Laura's pulsing jab/raking right hands, but the body...dear lord, the body: Laura's never done better, more consistent work down there. Bell: Lilly taking deep, laboured breaths, wincing in pain...testament to her conditioning that Laura's body-chopping hasn't gotten into 'Vangie's legs yet.

R7: Same again - relentless, stalking, patient pressure from Laura - blonde hands pasting away in combination up top, setting up wicked left uppercuts or hooks downstairs. Lilly absorbing the work - even mounting some counter-attacks this round: Evangeline able to bob close, hooks the waist and club at Laura's head inside before blonde legs disengage.

R8: Laura easy-breezy - stitching in and out with one-twos, rotating to her left, turning and touching Lilly midring. Evangeline bobbing on the spot, getting nagged and touched up...she's all busted up and sullen, just turning and timing and BLONDE GIRL DOWN! Laura stepping in, getting off one-two, dropping her hands as she's about to withdraw when Lilly times an expert left hook to chin - toggling Laura's face side to side and dropping blonde girl to her back! Laura's turn to be shabby and rickety - picking herself up all woozy...Evangeline punished but angry in neutral corner, hungry to finish. Resume: Laura roams to her right, using her legs, trading space for time...Evangeline cast in role of relentless pursuer as she changes the fight in the 8th!

R9: Spots for Evangeline, but Laura's legs/busy, pre-emptive punching keeping her in the lead. Vandervoort never better in terms of plan-execution...keeping the jab on Lilly; touching Lilly ringing one-twos; sidestepping Lilly; legging in and out to change distance. Blonde girl doing a GREAT job of keeping her back clear of the ropes - no easy thing against Evangeline. Lilly all busted up at this point - she's badly diminished, mouth breathing, just trying to bob her way past Laura's punching. Blonde girl marking distance well, but even when Lilly penetrates, Laura's getting off first, arching her back into wicked left uppercuts or popping her hips into snatching left hooks. Withering effect of the body work combined with the movement and over-all work ethic having a devastating effect...Lilly all puffy and sullen back to her corner at bell, head down.

R10: Laura closes the show in disciplined, up-tempo fashion, working her gameplan to perfection. In, out and around; pasting away outside behind the jab, then feeding Lilly the digging left uppercuts to ribs or chin whenever brunette penetrates. Evangeline sleepy, greatly reduced in terms of approach-velocity...she's easily picked up, punished and turned as Laura's legs dictate terms. Lilly too rugged to be stopped or dropped...she continues to trudge forward, but Laura's got her...blonde girl just puts the polish to her brunette, taking the 10th, and the fight UD10 in shockingly wide fashion.

After: Knockdown aside, it's a strangely lackadaisical performance from Lilly, with none of her trademark pursuit and pressure...Laura's got the answers in postfight. "It was that fifth round," Laura smiles, eyes just DANCING at the memory of that thrashing. "I broke her in the fifth - any other girl would have been knocked out. I didn't stop her, but I may as well have - she just couldn't come back after that. Then I was just shelling her, keeping it on her - just focussing on banking one minute at a time, you know? Because she's super-dangerous - even with me in control, she put me on my back, and I was like - 'Oh no...no you don't...this is NOT getting away from me.' Is this my biggest win ever? I don't know about that, but it's really huge. Haters always throw my record against elite fighters in my face, but now I've got something I can throw back at them. I took Evangeline Lilly apart tonight and no one can EVER take that away from me!"
