The Fight Club UK is having a busy night in the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham and to conclude the Spring Sessions it's their third member, Ali Bastian going up against Helena Mattsson of Lookout! Atlantic Boxing. It's a tricky old contest this one, Bastian absolutely destroyed Emily Blunt a year ago and now Blunt has won some FCBA bouts of all things while poor Ali got subsequently brutalized by Sayuki Matsumoto and missed the next ten months recovering from that loss. Nobody and I mean nobody in Birmingham knows which Bastian arrives here tonight, we could see either a massive comeback victory or another painful beatdown for the buxom British blonde.

Meanwhile Helena Mattsson was gearing up to become Lookout! Atlantic's leading fighter but suffered a painful setback in losing the lightweight title contest to then champion Sayuki Matsumoto (yes, her again) before bouncing back against Erin McNaught on Boxing Day. However with some LAB girls moving across the pond in recent weeks and stealling all the headlines, Helena's become the forgotten blonde of BBU and now wants to remind everyone why exactly she got the title shot at Matsumoto in first place. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Helena comes out blazing and she's rocking Ali's head seconds into the bout with some nice jabbing combo but the English girl refuses to buckle and targets the tummy instead, connects with the navel a couple of time but the ammount of leather Mattsson throws at her proves a little too much too early and eventually forces her to retreat. It's Helena's turn to switch low thereafter, but she crashes off the forearms; Ali reads the Swede's tactics well and clips her jaw with a precise cross hook, tries to follow up on the chest but gets clinched as Helena weathers the small storm. Ref separates the girls and Mattsson keeps jabbing at her foe's body, uppercuts the rack but gets countered by a high hook on the eye and staggers in the middle of the ring for a moment. Bastian misses a good chance to pounce on her though, probably still lacking confidence after such a long lay-off period and seems just happy to avoid any leather from her opponent for remainder of the round.

Round 2:
More low jabs crash off Ali's ribcage early in the second but she whips a nice overhand on the mouth and makes the fellow blonde yelp a bit. Bastian leans on Mattsson and cleans out her stomach in close range, finds more comfort there and goes around the elbows banging more leather against the Swede's pale skin. To be honest, Helena looks a little rusty too and gets tagged by a fine uppercut, struggles to stretch her arms in the slugging contest Ali forces upon her and has to clinch the English girl but gets whacked on the kidneys as Ali loses her temper for no apparent reason. Ref shoves the older blonde away but she squares up to Helena soon afterwards and tags her on the navel, fakes a high attack but keeps pounding away at the midriff and has the Swede moaning at the bell.

Round 3:
Bastian rides some confidence after that previous rounds and swarms all over her opponent, matches Mattsson's footwork and pummels her tummy again but Helena hasn't forgotten how she got so close to that title chance, has she? Indeed, she nails the older blonde with a quick hook on the brow ridge and laces her on the liver area as Ali's left arm was too slow to cover. That one skimmed off the elbow though and let Bastian off the hook. More jabs on the tummy from Helena as she switches targets but can't break her stubborn opponent and must circle back away from close range, that's the plan anyway but Ali cross hooks her mitts instead and lands leather on the mouth, forces the Swede to fall on the ropes and fight from behind the guard as Bastian's methodical single striking keep Helena pinned and just avoid potential damage.

Round 4:
Helena must be fed up with her performance as Ali's really going after her now, thumping more shots on the ribcage and easily scoring more shots on target. Mattsson's midriff withstands all those efforts those and the younger blonde isn't even wincing that much; she finally blocks off more leather coming her way and as Ali leans on her, she flicks an overhand left on the temple, still searches that liver punch too but just backs out of it at the last minute and slices between the arms, turns to the side, counters on the rack in wake of Ali's high hook... that misses and Mattsson with some jabbing on the chest, makes the English blonde wince before a cross hook rips into her mouth and causes to wobble. Body blows from Helena follow as she goes around the elbows and pushes her rival to the ropes where she keeps digging, finally some superior skills from Mattsson and at the bell it's Ali looking a bit roughed up as she's holding her midriff in some discomfort. And Helena didn't even hit the top gear according to most in the audience.

Round 5:
Ali still confident of sending Helena back to her place as she squares up to her in the middle of the ring but instead of laying into her tummy she walks into an overhand right that tags her on the mouth again and snaps her head back. Mattsson moves on her and thumps jabbing series on the stomach herself and clips the older blonde's chin on top of that. Bastian falls on the ropes and can't deke to the side in time as Mattsson spikes her with more overhand from point blank-range. The now raging Swede settles into position, just so she can make use of her height and reach advantage as she rips into Ali's guts, bends the girl in half and throws more leather over the top, nails her on the temple and buries a right hand on the liver area, this time clean and this time BASTIAN FALLS ONTO HER KNEES with the wind truly taken out of her!!! Ali was leaving that spot open far too often and finally got caught out as she scrambles back upright at seven but looking uneasy in the eyes. Helena pours into her midriff after the command, looks to make jelly beans out of that and as a moaning Ali drops her arms to protect the aching tummy, she gets whacked by a quick uppercut on the jaw and wobbles forward with her eyes closed. Left hook on the mouth makes her yelp for the final time before SHE CRASHES FACE-FIRST ON THE CANVAS. Helena keeps her cool, struts back to the neutral corner and watches as Bastian can only make it onto all fours at nine and is left sobbing into defeat moments later. KO R5 Helena Mattsson!!!

Post-fight:
Helena took some time to get going but once she did, Ali was dispatched with ease. It was a good start of the season for the former lightweight challenger who remains one of the hottest girls in BBU outright. Her stablemates may target a career in America but that shouldn't take anything away from her performance tonight or indeed the overall presence within the division. The Birmingham crowd, like so many BBU fans, can hardly wait to see whom she fights next!

Meanwhile Ali really needs to get her schedule right. On sheer looks alone she can give Helena a run for her money, but she got blown away boxing wise and can't have any complaints. Mattsson can punch but she made Bastian look sluggish at best and Ali must really look for more journeywoman as her next opponents rather than girls aspiring for BBU title fights. Nonetherless the crowd witnessed a nice KO to conclude the Spring Sessions event and that's never a bad thing!
