Before: Natural rival square off as Campbell takes on well rounded Garth in highly anticipated blonde/brunette struggle. Pundits like Garth’s experience, overall balance, but Campbell with a strong-bodied inside game practically a pick ‘em at the book. Red adidas terrycloth trunks, black sports bra for Neve, white sports bra, light blue adidas trunks, slick ponytail for Garth.

During R1: Girls meet head to head, rotate behind high guards as each tries to shorten up her stroke to head and body. Garth stepping in with jabs and hooks dictates tempo for most of the round, Campbell making noise late as she puts her head on Jennie’s shoulder and lands thudding lefts and rights to the gut in a tightly contested first.

R2: Shoulder to shoulder, girls try to push and shove one another back—Campbell liking the body on body work has Garth off balance. Neve getting her hips into a short left hook to the jaw and rib cage, bouncing that fists off blonde’s body and Garth wincing as the round goes on. Campbell on the board as tempers flare at the bell—Garth giving Neve a late shove in protest.

R3: Jennie moving her feet more, stepping to the side behind a firm jab has Campbell watching, pivoting as the blonde dictates, Garth with clever clinches up under Campbell’s arms is able to jab, get off a hook or clubbing right then hold for breaks—Neve not getting her chance as the blonde smothers the receipt. Shutout Jennie as she gets inside Campbell’s head frustrating the brunette this round.

R4: Garth using a little step to the right, educated jab to open up her foe’s guard and she is stepping into withering hooks to the stomach and teeth that have Campbell looking ragged early. Neve trying to time Jennie’s hooks with her own, but she’s getting beaten to the punch. Late in the round, Garth comes off the body, straightening into a pretty hook that just beats Neve to the punch—Campbell’s legs bend then lock straight—she’s hurt. Garth immediately to Neve’ crotch with a tapping left then BANGING the hook of Neve’s jaw as the brunette reacts to the sudden foul. Campbell rolling to her back--Jennie stepping over her actually lunges into another right hand on the side of the neck as Campbell is helpless. Referee hustles Jennie off, but Neve is stunned, rising at 10, but unable to continue. Garth awarded a tainted KO4.

After: Shocking display of ruthlessness from Jennie as she was winning on merit, then poured salt into Campbell’s wounds with low blows and hitting the brunette when she was down to seal the deal. Hail of protest falls on deaf ears as Garth dismisses the criticism. “She was rough, especially on the inside—I had to defend myself. Ask anybody—Campbell’s a dirty fighter and got what she had coming.”
