Before: Charlie crosses the pond, taking a big appearance fee plus point gross to meet Jones on her home turf. Jones disparaging the blonde's last outing, scoffing at the awed North American press for being 'duped' by Theron and contending that Severance is about as shot a brunette as could be dredged up at this time. Them's fighting words. Charlize in white aerobics gear, Zeta Jones in black sports bra, red Adidas terrycloth trunks, slick ponytail.

During R1: Jones tears into Charlize without restraint from the opening moments, completely catching Theron by surprise and cudgeling the blonde to the ropes with snapping lefts and rights across the face. Theron going dewy eyed, right hand loose at her jaw as the left droops to her waist, and Jones is POURING it on. Catherine baring her teeth as she stretches her lean body into punches, wrecking Charlize by the middle minute. An interval of tired pushing and leaning as Jones catches her breath, then down the stretch, she BATTERS Charlize in a corner as the crowd roars. Jones just opening up, feet wide, leaning side to side and she cranks lefts and rights into Theron's face. Bell sounds - Theron is busted up, already cut and swelling badly and reeling, blundering into Jones corner by mistake.

R2: Jones has her girl hurt, and the clever boxer we've come to expect replaces the kamikaze brawler of the first. Jones neatly stepping to her left, drilling a sharp jab onto Charlize' ruined eyes, mixing in an opportunistic straight right to the solar plexus that has Charlize wobbly. Midway through the round, Jones feints a stunned Charlize out of her socks, then leads with a stabbing right on the teeth, snapping back Theron's head, and putting her in trouble again. Theron reeling to the ropes, once again puts up an ineffectual defense as Jones lets her hands go, pelting the blonde with curling lefts and rights to the bell.

R3: Jones' corner tells her to finish Charlize this round, but the blonde opens with robotic looking, but heavy handed rising swings from both fists, forcing Jones to step out and circle. By the midway point, Jones fresher legs take over as she opens up angles on Charlize, pounding in a chopping lead right hand onto the face as Theron reacts very slowly to the incoming. Jones putting her punches together, dips in and out to score with 3 punch blasts at the bell.

R4: Once again, Theron trying to slug, planting her wobbly legs firm and just hoping for the connect. Jones circling, gets Theron stumbling forward, and soon has the blonde cringing from crisp counter hooks in behind the elbow. As Theron's form degrades, Jones walks the blonde into a well timed counter right uppercut, smashing Theron’s head back as the girls fall in together. Charlize slides helplessly down Jones’ body to all fours as Catherine's dark eyes glitter - Theron a pathetic site as she paws for her mouthpiece without success. Theron up at 8, is taken apart as Jones steps in and out with her slashing combinations to the bell.

R5: Charlize out with her guard high, giving Jones the body, and Cathy bites. Jones going after the ribs, gets countered hard as Charlize drops right hands down onto the brunette's face, and Catherine starts to lump up, slow down. Midway through the round, Charlize steps into a crunching left hook to the waist that draws a sharp cry from Jones, and the follow up chopping right is enough to put the brunette on her backside. Zeta Jones up quickly, but Charlize is getting to her with gritty determination.

R6: Charlize hurt Zeta Jones to the body and she goes back there with left hooks, twisting her hips through the whip action punches, and Jones folds up. Theron in control, uses her forearms on Zeta Jones shoulders to push the brunette onto her heels, and midway through the round, the push, followed by a wide left hook on the jaw, and a lunging straight right hand up the middle hammers Jones head back. JONES GOES DOWN! Catherine hurting badly, sprawls on her back, and groggily gets to her feet, lips trickling blood as Theron wades in. Final minute is brutal give and take as Charlize pushes Jones to the ropes, but Catherine with her compact counter punching bats the blonde's head side to side as both girls look shaky.

R7: Charlize has taken Jones legs out of the fight as the two warriors shuffle wearily around one another to open the round. Jones still stabbing out the left jab, can find Charlize face any time she wants, but Theron shaking it off now. Theron swiping at Jones’ midsection, forces Jones into retreat, and finally back to the ropes. All Charlize as Jones covers up and crouches forward, giving up her sides as Charlize digs in with both fists. Theron using her shoulder, butts Jones back in the teeth, and uses the opening for clouting hooks or right hands, then bodies up as Jones struggles against the weight. A bashing right hand, wide across the forehead has Catherine momentarily stunned, and she slides across the ropes as Charlize steps with her, firing wildly as Jones sops it up. Round ends with Cathy sagging on the ropes, head getting twisted violently around by Charlize sharp, curling punches at close range.

R8: Charlize walks her prey down, and goes to the body once again, viciously breaking Jones down with those straight arm left hooks to the waist. Cathy can't take it, groaning, turning to stagger away, as Charlize stalks her to the ropes. Theron pawing, measuring the brunette with the jab leans into a lancing right hand through the mitts, her momentum carrying her into the brunette as the girls sag into the ropes. Theron pulls back, Jones spills to the canvas, lying on her face in deep slumber. KO8 Charlize Theron.

After: Charlize too badly battered to celebrate, walks back to her corner without a backward glance as Jones’ seconds race to her side. Victory takes its place as one of Theron greatest comebacks, as she was being hopelessly mauled over the first half Jones battered, beaten down, then switched off by maybe the best Theron to ever take the ring.
