Before: HBO throwing both stalwarts a bone on the Undercard of Peeples/Electra. Winnable fight for either party, both girls feature balanced skills, good fundamentals - going to be the girl who wants it more and executes that wins. CTS in white sports bra, light blue aerobics bottoms, Jessica in black short sleeved crop top/bra, black aerobics bottoms.

During R1: CTS with the quick start, rings Jessica up early with the lead right hand, just hacking it down over Steen's left shoulder to send the Canuck stagger stepping. Smith dictating, jerking hooks off scraping jabs, committing to hard overhand punching with the right. Late in the round, Smith stuns Steen with 3 hacking right hands on the cheek - Jessica wobbly butt at the bell.

R2: Steen answers Courtney's shutout with one of her own, outjabbing the blonde midring, and working wide right hands to the ribs to set up the biting left hook upstairs. Down the stretch, Steen clipping the come-along hook under Smith's chin, slaps a hard right cross onto the blonde's teeth - Smith hanging on at the bell - both girls soaking up hurtful shots in brisk early action.

R3: Courtney touching Jessica once or twice with a flicking jab, but blonde is intent on power punching, hammering her way into Steen's taut ribcage with hard right/lefts, then jerking the hook to Jessica's head. Steen in the high guard, dipping and offering counter hooks - both girls looking good offensively/defensively - Smith the more effective aggressor this round.

R4: Steen working off the speedbag jab, hooks Smith to the stomach and steps over to the left to sling the overhand right to the chops. Smith to looking to bash, getting wrong footed a little this round, can't find the rhythm as Steen circles, works in and out to peck her way to points.
R5: Smith walks Jessica down, pressuring the Canuck to the perimeter of the ring, then commits to heavy curling rights and lefts to the body - Steen stops punching, visibly shaken by CTS barrage. Smith playing her fists up Steen's body, rings lefts and rights off Jessica's face -hardest blows of the fight as Steen's legs lock, hands push awkwardly out - Smith pounding her way past the limbs has Steen wavering at the bell. Steen cut over the left eye and looking shaky in her corner.

R6. Jessica has to get Smith's respect - girls meet at center ring and crowd goes wild as power shots spank back and forth. Both girls buffeted off balance by hard blows to the face, but CIS more determined, finishing off the exchanges and by the midway point has Steen looking defensive. Court with withering body work via the left hand, steps to her right and chops down with the right, putting Steen wobbly butt and looking to clinch. CIS won't be denied, working over Steen's left shoulder, hacking her right hand over and over and JESSICA SPILLS TO THE CANVAS!! Steen dazed, gets to her knees but no farther as Courtney Thorne Smith records a KO6.

After: Smith pounding out her foe with heavy punching from the opening bell, simply wore Jessica out with committed blows to head and body. Uncharacteristic from contact hitter Smith, but the right decision as Steen breaks up under pressure. Nice to see CTS go to the pay window for once.
