Sore at her lack of opportunities to date, Rose aims to take out her frustration on Michelle, and at flyweight she may just be a hotter prospect than at bantamweight, where she’s fought so far with little success. Michelle’s on a winning run, and won’t want to lose it against the Australian.

This might be a gamble on Michelle’s part to take on Rose. Sure, she’s been in good form, but Rose is bigger and heavier, so she’ll need to be careful.

Rose is in the ring first, the Australian in a bottle green bikini for this fight, with Michelle in black bra and pants with scarlet silks wound around the lacey edging.

Round 1

Rose looks confident – she’s beaten Michelle’s pal Kym Marsh, and she wants to trade with the busty Brit, lands the first two punches of the fight – then gets hammered backwards as Michelle snaps punches into her face, that familiar round arm jab still surprising opponents, and Rose is grunting now, hurt by Michelle’s right hook to her jaw, now seriously inconvenience by a left to her belly, and another right hook from Michelle crashes into her face, firmly putting her on the floor. Rose dusts herself off, on her feet at 7, but that’s a big setback – and Michelle nails her again! She can’t miss with that right hook, and Rose is maybe lucky to see it through this round, because another of those could have put her away.

Round 2

Michelle isn’t pressing on with her advantage at the start of this round. She’s standing off, and letting Rose come to her – and Rose needs no invitation, as she zaps a couple of punches at Michelle’s face, the Brit blocking them well, and now Rose switches her attack, gives Michelle a good one to the body, and that’s’ got Keegan’s attention! Michelle’s taking evasive action now, but Rose is closing her down, working her into a corner, using her extra height to keep her there, and Michelle can’t escape just yet – Rose tries for the uppercut, but Michelle blocks it – that would have loosened her up a bit if it had landed. Michelle doesn’t look too bothered, but why is she backing off?

Round 3

Rose is coming forward again, working on Michelle’s lovely body, doing her best to weaken the younger girl – but Michelle’s keeping mobile, and she snaps a couple of snaking jabs into Rose’s face, surprising the Australian with her reach, making her hold. Michelle looks irritated, and now Rose jabs her face a couple of times, hooks her to the ribs, and starts to outmuscle her again, Michelle backing off, then stepping aside, skipping out of range, then flicking out a jab, generally annoying Rose. The round is drawing to a close, and Rose pushes forwards, thuds a good straight right into Michelle’s belly, whips a good right hook over her guard, then has her stuck on the ropes, and thuds a couple of hefty punches onto Keegan’s famed rack – Michelle is upset, but can’t hit back as the bell rings, Rose grinning at the Brit.

Round 4

An irritated Michelle responds to that boob punching – she swings a couple of big left hooks at Rose’s face from close quarters, and the Australian must be regretting her tactics at the end of round three, because Michelle hits her hard to the liver with a left hook, then snaps her head sideways with a right, back again with a left, followed by another, sending Rose to the ropes. The Australian covers up, but Michelle still manages to hit her, banging punches into the bigger girl’s jaw, then thudding a straight one into her mouth, stunning her, then felling her with a right hook, Rose laying on the canvas, her left eyebrow cut open, and she struggles to get to her feet at 8. Michelle is in no mood to go easy on Rose now, and she lays into the girl’s body, making her gasp and grunt as she absorbs a lot of punishment.

Round 5

Rose is in big trouble here, as Michelle roughs her up at close quarters, crashing punches into the now weeping Australian’s body. Rose manages to hold, but every time she does, the referee resets the girls, and Michelle just whacks away at Rose’s body again – now she gives her opponent’s breasts some treatment, making them jiggle around as she whups in the short-arm uppercuts. Now, with Rose almost defenceless, Michelle gives her another combination to the face, Rose’s knees give way, and she drops to the canvas again, spitting blood, but rises at 7, determined not to be another of Michelle Keegan’s knockout victims. This is tough for Rose, though, because Michelle’s snapping her head around with savage punches, her cut eye worsening all the time.

Round 6

Michelle’s just winding up the punches now, and she’s battering Rose again, keeping her in a neutral corner, just thrashing her to the body, the referee in close attendance. Michelle gives Rose a hard right to the belly, then she just snaps her up and back with a left uppercut to the face – and the referee dives between the girls, stopping the fight.

Result: Michelle Keegan stopped Rose Byrne in round 6.

Michelle seems to have enjoyed herself there, avenged the defeat meted out by Rose to Michelle’s friend Kym Marsh, and she really does look like a girl on a big mission to hand out punishment.
