"Crusade" Bout

BEFORE: Theron reeling psychologically and physically...golden opportunity for unsung Aisha T to scoop a trophy for the ages. "It's probably the best chance at Charlize I'll ever have," Tyler acknowledges in prefight. "She's hurting, worn down - not just from the Crusade, but from her whole career, I mean...I think we've finally gotten into this woman's legs and we're tapping her reserves of spirit. Cat and Becky have really done a number on her, and I've got the chance to keep CT rolling downhill...I can't let her off the ropes!"

Theron with a vaguely haunted look these days as relentless pressure combined with psychological shocks seem to be taking their toll...or are they? "I can't sit around and mope," Theron says, dismissing Bell's betrayal with a waving hand. "These girls are going for my throat...Aisha Tyler's probably the best technical boxer-puncher of the group, and I have to be focussed on her. If I let Bell, Becky and the rest of them get to me, I've already lost this fight. I have to stop the bleeding here, and clean up the remaining dregs of the Crusade. That's my best revenge...just showing them they couldn't break me!"

During R1: Mirror-image stances: women in slight crouches, left shoulders forward - right hand at chest/left at shoulder, chins tucked, elbows in. Stiff-jabbing negotiations midring - CT pounding poke tummy/head, pivoting to her left; Aisha receipting jabs to face, sliding sleek right hand counters through the middle. Strong face-punching gradually takes the play away from Theron...she's looking spanked, blinking, lips slightly parted...Aisha's long armed, pounding delivery very slick and accurate, catching Theron when Charlize thinks she's an inch or two out of range. Down the stretch, Tyler able to consolidate - circling her blonde clockwise, pounding one-twos to face, punching CT into a groggy little stupor by the bell.

R2: Similar negotiations, dominated by Theron this time. Rangy, circular action from the outside - blonde triggering jabs from her shoulder, punishing Aisha's beautiful face; committing on choosey right hands to really pound Tyler's head back. Just step-and-fire - Theron methodical, relentless, set to slug on long tanned legs, reaching out and battering her rival systematico. Aisha staring bleakly into a shutout: Theron nodding/chatting to herself on the strut back to her corner for break.

R3: Hot-tossing two-way as women continue to vie for dominance outside - each finding the other with STIFF left jabs up top, following through on crashing rights. Intensity heating up...good, cracking leather landing on both faces...fighters coming back wide-eyed, a little spanked after receipt of punishment. Midway through, Theron makes the adjustment to slant straight rights down into Aisha's midsection...distance between fighters shrinks as Charlize brings the fight inside. Leads to more of a bruising, lanky-shellack match as girls stoop forward, strapping away waists/ribs/flanks...fists bouncing off firm bodies; long arms shuddering on batting contact with the enemy.

R4: Grim business of slug-and-be-slugged evolves...Theron diving in off that sleek right hand straight to Tyler's body - hooking Aisha's chin; clubbing her righty upside the head, backing her up. Tyler's back hits ropes for the first time, but she's still effective - left palm extended to CT's right shoulder; right uppercuts smiting at Theron's chin. Charlize answering back the dutiful left uppercut to chin; looping the right to ear - trying to slug her way past Aisha's oustretched, long arms. Theron also applying tasty shellack to Tyler's breadbasket - blonde-girl getting in there via thick, paintbrush-stroking rights and lefts, bunching Aisha up hurrrrt by the bell.

R5: Tyler fending CT off via the jab midring - pivoting clockwise...she's turning CT, measuring her, and one minute it, she RAILS a right hand clean to CT's chin! Head swivel blonde-girl...THERON'S ROCKED! CT staring, gobsmacked...she stumbles right-side first into ropes, forming panicked face-in-gloves as she sags back into cables. Tyler: hard-eyed, pursing her lips as she revs up...she POURS it to stationary Theron. Lashing, heartfelt right/lefts whip at blonde hips/flanks, fists bouncing off taut meat, buckling CT's legs. Carving right uppercuts brush CT back upright against ropes, eyes blinking in stupor; looping wide lefts crash onto jaw just outside CT's protective guard. OH THE BATTERING! Tyler belting away to glory...Theron sullen, limp and taking at ropes, offering back juust enough to keep the ref from doing anything stupid. Tyler getting her back and legs into strong shellack with those rangy arms of hers...she beats CT into a KO fog, just can't get those long golden legs to quit!

Crusade bench all standing, clapping/hooting, bringing a smile to Aisha's punished face as she returns to corner for the break.

R6: Theron busted up, showing how-could-you eyes...she fades into ropes, still too hurt to maneuver...Aisha moves in to finish what she started! ANOTHER healthy beating ensues - CT lolling in earmuff, butt-in-ropes, cringing forward: Tyler leaning in, carrying rangy-shellacking rights and lefts into CT's flanks or waist - brunette really bending into the blows, getting her back into 'em. Straightening up, Tyler will measure CT with an extended left, then feed her brutal straight right hands - punching between CT's mitts, knocking her back over top rope. Theron spellbound, lashes fluttering...proud legs holding her up, but OH the punishment. Still, late the round, Tyler breathing hard, her pace slowing and CT bangs back! Theron catching Tyler a nuisance left uppercut off the ropes, then a more serious right uppercut from the right plant-leg...Aisha gobbling chin-checks, falling in to clinch CT up against the ropes. Ref's break...Tyler arm-weary, visibly gassed...she runs out the clock with jab-and-grab, pinning CT to ropes with writhing clinches.

R7: Theron's survived the worst of Tyler...Charlize gets herself on track midring, working behind the jab. Patient, stiff poke from a wide stance...Theron punching back Aisha's weary face time and again, pivoting clockwise around the scores. CT happy to lump her girl up, but blonde diligent about the midsection as well - stooping to reach the left jab in to belly, moving Aisha off her stance with stiff stick. Discouraged Aisha forms earmuff late, stooping forward midring...CT able to shorten up stroke, clout her girl rights and lefts upside the head, then really drop that right foot back/pop hips-right into GORGEOUS swinging hooks in behind Tyler's right elbow. Thumping body shots take the wind out of Tyler's sails: she's mouthbreathing, hollow eyed at bell.

R8: CT turns puncher/stalker - jabbing just to win initiative, then stepping inside; flashing the short right uppercut to face; clouting Aisha hooks up top. Tyler stooping forward in groggy earmuff - output really dropping off...she's just trying to crowd Charlize, smother a bit of the work, taking punches until she can pull Theron into defensive clinches. Charlize scrubbing pate with Aisha inside, keeping elbows in - blonde establishing the little right uppercut in tight, then belting body right/left. Tyler cringing, cramped up...she's grinding it out with CT, getting walked and bossed around as Theron scrounges out a hard-working shutout.

R9: Tyler digs in - most brutal two-way punching of the fight evolves as CT engages inside. Pates scrubbing, hands pawing opposing shoulders/pushing opposing inner elbows, fighters slug it out in a phone booth. Weapons of voice are the short right uppercut inside - usually thrown off the right support-leg when the opponent's resting her chin on puncher's left shoulder. Tight left hook, chopped across face with the elbow down and in tight on delivery. The stuffing right to breadbasket - just a short, shoving shot. The rangy left hook out wide behind opponent's right elbow - puncher dipping her left shoulder, popping hips-right and really getting in there thick. Aisha turns the tide, outfighting Theron in grim, long-armed trade...CT all puffy-eyed, split-lipped as she pulls back from the cauldron at bell.

R10: Battered beauties shuffle to midring, hands waist high, mouths open, eyes half shut. CT offering up-jabs from the hip, pivoting clockwise on her left leg, her left hand punching Aisha's sleepy face. Tyler turning-with, accepting jabs while extending her own left to measure...she wants to rail one finishing right hand onto CT's chin. Theron roaming to her left, sweeps a batting right up over Tyler's outstretched left, swatting jaw...DOWN GOES TYLER! Aisha's legs just give way, spilling her onto her back...Theron exhausted, walks away hands-on-hips to neutral corner. Tyler beats the count shabby...she's got nothing left. Aisha retreats into ropes, forms earmuff, digs in as CT wades on in. Grim pawing, pushing stuff - Theron fighting on fumes, but grimly determined to gnaw on whatever's left of Aisha. Tyler too battered to offer back, too proud and strong to go down...she hangs in for a tenth round beating - Charlize just closing her eyes, laying in close and slopping it to Aisa bell to bell. Comes back UD10 Charlize Theron!

AFter: Tyler utterly used up, unable to get off her stool to join CT for the official verdict midring...Theron stands alone with ref holding her hand up, blonde head lolling slightly, but blue eyes still ferocious. "Had to draw a line on the canvas tonight," Charlize admits in postfight, face as badly battered as we've seen in the series. "This was must-win for me. They were smart to hold Aisha for later in the series when her age wouldn't be a factor...she was hurting me, slugging well with me...I don't think that could have happened if she'd been in the first 3 to come at me. I stopped their momentum here tonight - now I have to roll the rest of these sluts up. They thought they'd broken me, but I showed 'em. My spirit, my will still prevails, and I KNOW that's got to have these girls on their heels a bit at this point."
