Before: Well-made match as both girls loo to emerge as solid second tier names. Good move by Richards--abandoning the prima donna attitude and taking a tough low profile bout to get much needed experience in a winnable bout. Denise in light blue bikini top, grey stretch shorts, Jenny in bra style light blue bikini with white polka dots.

During R1-3: Both girls fighting at workmanlike pace, able to execute, and both have their moments. O’Dell with a plan—boxing early, moving clockwise, stepping in with her jab to finish up the rounds inside to work Denise’s body. Richards ad libbing, responding—maybe that’s the difference as 3 close rounds go to Jen early.

‘R4: Big shutout Denise Richards as she doubles up on the jab and has the blonde backing uo early. D coming in behind hard right hands on the early finishes very strong—landing curling lefts/rights to Jenny’s gut, then putting the left hook on top to turn the blonde’s head AND JENNY IS HURT! O’Dell open mouthed doesn’t take the hook well, and she’s helpless as Richards piles on at the bell with agonizing strokes to the waistline.

R5: D keeping the pressure on, palming as blonde’s shoulders, walking her around, and turning her shoulders into short lefts and rights to the gut. Blonde with her head close to Denise’s looks worn, laying in but not punching as she gets pushed and punched this round.

R6: Crowd roars as Denise wades in, disdain the jab and opens with cudgeling 6 hook barrage to the blonde’s midsection to crumple O’Dell to the ropes. Jenny hurt, sliding to her right, and D steps with her, using a flickering jab to the forehead, then dipping down to sling right hands to the stomach or head as O’Dell breaks down. Jen battered to the turnbuckle, right hand at her cheek, left across her belly, manages to turn her left shoulder just enough to slip the punches that might end this thing—but she takes a murderous beating this round. Richards pumped at the bell, O’Dell staggering—helped to her corner.

R7,8: O’Dell battered, bruised, but unbroken—claws her way back into the match with gritty determination. Stepping to the left, banging out the jab, and jerking into hard right hands off Richards’ eye—Jen boxes for points as the brunette looks fatigued, can’t get inside and doesn’t want to move her hands outside.

R9: Jen makes her move, uptempoing to catch Denise saving it for the tenth, and blonde muscles brunette into her corner to open the round with fury. O’Dell with a wide stance, jerks lefts and rights from her hips to buffet Richards’ onto her heels—brunette looks shocked at the sudden squall of punches and is getting ROCKED! Punishment adding up, ref taking a close look and Richards begins pushing back to avoid the stoppage. O’Dell working furiously catches D a biting hook on the chin and RICHARDS SWOONS! Richards with her butt on the turnbuckle, arms listless as her hands drop, and O’Dell cranks hooks to the eye until D slumps to the canvas. Ref pushes Jen back—KO9 Jenny O’Dell!

After: Stunning conclusions to seesaw affair as both girls are hurt and carry on in this one O’Dell with the more organized corner, more disciplined approach, guessing with Richards and catching her taking a blow—but a close fight and one to build on for both women.
