BBU Summer Grudge Sessions

It will be hard to better the opening fight of the Summer Grudge Sessions between Mollie King and Sandy Moelling but Jun Natsukawa and Isla Fisher promise to wreck each other and whenever there's so much bad blood between a couple of girls one should expect a great contest. Both girls destroyed Georgie Thompson in their recent outings and Isla went the distance with Jade Ewen before that while Jun then lasted six rounds against current FCBA flyweight champion Hayden Panettiere. Allthough Fisher's unlikely to feature on the Ashes card later this summer, she thinks highly of her chances against an always dangerous Japanese fighter but the Panettiere contest gives Natsukawa advantage in the experience level since you always try to learn from the best even when losing

Jun Natsukawa wearing a
black one-piece swimsuit with white stripes and red gloves. Dark hair straight. Isla Fisher wearing a green one-piece swimsuit and white gloves. Red hair in loose waves.

Round 1:
Unlike some of her previous fights, Isla comes out swinging and spikes Jun to the body and tries to make an instant impact on her chest. The
Japanese warrior shows some nifty footwork though and settles into mid-range, counters over the top but misses her shots on Fisher's head who in turn whacks her around the elbows and closes on her in the second minute. More crisp shots on the midriff follow before Isla breaks through the guard and uppercuts the chin but further progress is halted when Jun slices the Aussie on the chest and leans on her, responds with similar body attacks to force Isla back to see out the round.

Round 2:
More aggressive swings from the redhead as she catches Natsukawa on the temple before switching low and cleaning out her ribcage. Jun holds firm though and goes around the elbows again, spikes Isla on the tummy and clinches her, forcing ref into action. After the command Jun beats her opponent for a high jabbing combo and slams a left/right cross on the mouth staggering Isla a bit. More shots on the stomach follow and the Aussie must cover up before jumping to the side but Jun slowly finds her stride and keeps pummelling her to the body. Isla ducks and weaves in avoidance and more importantly avoids getting trapped on the ropes, circles to the center of the ring and remains in mid-range until the bell as Natsukawa shows more mean intentions but fails to close her down.

Round 3:
Natsukawa jumps from her stool and catches Fisher with another left/right combo on the mouth, slices her guard for good and thumps a left uppercut on the jaw to sink the redhead on her knees and it's a sudden rain of punches from the
Asian warrior who slams a series on the chest, bends the actress down and whips more leather over the top, rocks her head from side to side as Isla stumbles in avoidance, gets pummelled back to the ropes down the stretch and just covers up with Jun hammering her to the body thereafter and keeping pinned on the ropes. Isla tries to respond, but as she opens up Natsukawa pounds away at her chest and makes her moan; late in the round she shoves a hapless looking redhead against the turnbuckle but despite a strong showing, she can't put her down before the bell and looks annoyed as Isla is still game enough to give her a b###hy stare.

Round 4:
Fisher hangs back along the ropes early but Natsukawa shows more speed across the canvas, keeps lashing out at her midsection before clipping her chin with a seemingly wayward hook. Isla counters from the side, targets Jun's chest and single strikes to the body, tries to find some uppercuts but eats another left hook on the mouth and gasps for air as Natsukawa closes her down and begins ripping into her guts instead. Isla covers up and looks to jump away to safety but a left/right combo shatters her mitts and leaves Jun with an easy point-blank range put away on the mouth; Fisher half-turns and exposes her liver area as she tries to stay upright... left hook on the liver SENDS HER CRASHING DOWN ON HER KNEES though as Jun finds the punch she was looking for... Isla slumps on all fours but beats the count at six anyway, shows some visible discomfort on her face though and jumps back to the ropes straight after the command. Natsukawa closes her down with ease; traps on the ropes and sends more jabs on the tummy, switches high and uppercuts the chin but gets blocked off instead and Fisher manages to clinch her after a couple of high hooks miss her head as Jun seemingly became too desperate to knock the redhead out right here and right now. Bell settles the shoving dispute much to Isla's relief.

Round 5:
Isla was knocked down in the fourth but comes out of her stool with a surprising charge, seemingly tries to indicate to her rival that she's not done yet and that liver shot was nothing more than a lucky punch. She pummels Jun to the body but lacks strenght and speed as the Japanese girl weaves around her and counters from the side, catches the actress on the temple with a right hook and follows up with more
ribcage assault as Isla again struggles to move her feet in time and half stumbles, eats a left hook on the jaw and Natsukawa really starts to expose her guard, repeatedly slices Isla on the cheeks and forces her back but there's no escape because of the movement advantage and Fisher ends up butt-in-ropes thereafter with Jun opening up from both hands and snapping her head back. Fisher moans & groans in despair, fails to land her single shots from behind the guard as Natsukawa's high tempo efforts are enough to keep her trapped and looking sluggish at the very least. But either Isla's not as hittable as Georgie Thompson or Jun lacks precision neccessary to put her away for the time being because late in the round Fisher manages to clinch a visibly annoyed rival and survive another tough affair. Jun just stares at her after the bell, tries to dwarf her mentally but allthough Isla's face starts to resemble her hair color, she still struts back to her corner and looks better than most of the Cardiff crowd expected in wake of some really bad rounds lately.

Round 6:
Natsukawa goes for broke at the start and even surprises Fisher with an ultra-aggressive stance, almost like she requires a last-gasp KO to secure victory. She swings to the head but misses however Isla instead of perhaps backing away, leans on her and pummels to the tummy, uppercuts the rack thereafter and settles into close range, trying to upset the Asian. Jun has none of it though and ignores the redhead's leather crashing against her midriff, whacks Isla on the temple with a huge left hook and buries a right in her guts, makes Fisher moan before another left hook slams her on the mouth... ISLA'S ROCKED!!! She sinks on her knees and takes a couple of heavy steps back and the lively Asian squares up to her throwing more punches on the chest; clipping her jaw too and Isla falls on the ropes, eats an overhand left on the eye, another right on the temple before she can raise her arms and that's enough TO SEND HER CRASHING ON THE CANVAS!! Natsukawa in destructive mode, awaits the outcome of her furious charge but Fisher manages to beat the count again allthough with much more difficulty. She's up at eight and nodding back to the referee but Jun is all over her in a hurry, sends more leather on the tummy and looking to slice through the mitts, succeeds in the final minute and snaps the Aussie's
head back, shoves her against the turnbuckle and just hammers away in mindless fashion as the poor redhead slumps further down on her knees and now just soaks up relentless punishment. Jun shows no signs of gassing out and keeps reducing her foe into a proper punchbag but runs out of time to get the job done and barks in anger at the bell but Isla is really hurting now and walks slowly to her corner with her head down nad staring at the canvas.

Round 7:
Fisher tries to bide herself some time but Natsukawa is much quicker for her and immediately squares up to the redhead lashing out at the midriff before sending uppercuts on the rack. Isla can only cover up from the barrage, offers nothing back and gets bashed to the ropes seconds into the seventh and Jun looks like she wants to tear her apart, buries more gutwrenchers downstairs, clobbers Fisher to the chest before finding a left/right combo on the jaw that sends the redhead to the orbit... AND THE REF STEPS IN!!! He embraces the battered actress and saves her from a really bad knockout as the
Japanese warrior can finally celebrate a hard-fought success. TKO R7 Jun Natsukawa!!!

Post-fight:
Isla needs to be escorted to her stool and looks somewhat hollow for the next few minutes. She's put a brave challenge anyway despite getting overwhelmed as the rounds progressed especially in the latter stages of the fight and Jun will not be happy she didn't finish her off earlier. Overall the Asian girl didn't look as impressive as in some of her previous bouts, whether she just needed to shrug off some ring rust or simply underestimated Fisher's punching resistance remains to be seen but a win is a win at the end of the day.

Allthough the fight didn't quite match the fireworks seen in King vs Moelling slugfest it still produced a spirited performance from both girls and the Cardiff crowd salutes the two flyweight vixens with a well deserved round of applause. We move to the bantamweights next and it's another potential grudge bout on the cards between two new found enemies.

Final result: Jun Natsukawa def. Isla Fisher TKO7. .
