"Pound for Pound" Title Bout

Before: Luner, the pound for pound best fighter in celebrity boxing finally puts that distinction on the line in a 50-50 contest against Lopez. While pound for pound status is an informal title, voted on by the celebrity boxing writers of America , Luner's various network and casino titles are also at stake, as are Lopez magazine and recording label crowns. For Jamie, it's the first time since the Demi Moore rematch fell through that she has really been in with a threat (apologies to Janet Jones et al) since winning the title 2 years ago. Coming in a svelte 1241bs, Luner finds herself the bigger woman, but she'll have to box, and keep Lopez on the end of her jab if she hopes to retain her prestige. White push up bra and panties for the red head champ, royal blue aerobics two piece for honey-blonde challenger Lopez.

During R1: No surprises from Lopez as she calls to mind the great Latin legends of the past, closing distance, bobbing inside to set up soul-stealing left hooks to the rib cage. Luner flat footed early, covers up and gives Jen her muscular torso. Luner with sharp, rising left hand counters pushes Lopez back in the final minute, but Jen takes the opener with pressure.

R2: Jen Lopez continues to have her way, fighting off Luner's chest and really pouring it on downstairs. Luner hunkered down behind her gloves, continues to trust her rippling abs to soak up the punishment, but Lopez is really working it. In the final minute however, Jamie shows the method to her madness. Retreating slightly, she lures Jen forward into a crushing right uppercut, short left hand to the ear, and Lopez stumbles to all fours. Luner prances away, while Jen shakes her head in disgust at the bell.

R3: Luner has Lopez attention, and for the first time in the bout, the red head uses her legs to good effect. It's vintage Luner, wheeling around a shorter opponent, snapping off that backhanded jab, chopping in with the right hand, and leaning away from the receipt. Luner pitches the shutout against a tentative Lopez, clearly wary of the champ's handspeed and power in combination.

R4: Lopez gets her act together and cuts off the ring, hemming Luner into one quarter of the ring. Bobbing inside, Lopez begins to methodically tan the ribs and waist of the taller girl, folding Luner forward behind her guard. Lopez puts it all together, snapping off vicious uppercuts set up by the body work, and Luner tries desperately to bounce off the ropes, slip her way free of trouble, only to be hounded into the corner by the Latina ’s pressure. With Jami seated on a turnbuckle, Lopez unleashes a barrage of ripping left hooks, and Luner wearily takes a knee to stop the carnage. Devastating shutout round with power for Jen as she leaves Luner groggy at the bell.

R5: Familiar pattern emerges as Jen initiates, pounding with both hands to the firm midsection in hopes of sniping at Luner's head with looping overhands or uppercuts. Luner defensive, takes for the first two minutes, then opens up in the closing 60 to feed Lopez jabs. Luner's letting the rounds slip away however, and not doing enough to impress the judges.

R6: Jamie crosses Jen up with some lead right hands early, setting up the left hook, and Lopez gets caught with some stern tests of her chin in the first minute. Lopez starts to get a little punchy, and Luner has her stumbling forward into trouble. Retreating in good order, Luner slaps with rising, open palm left hooks to the chin of Lopez, then blisters the Latina with a chopping right to the cheek and LOPEZ GOES DOWN! Jen Lopez falls on her face and rolls to her back in a daze. She barely beats the count, but as Jami rushes in with a finishing flurry, it is Lopez, ducking under the taller girl's punches and countering fearlessly to the gut, who finishes strongest in the round.

R7: Lopez shakes off a small cut over her left eye to bull forward, walk Luner to the ropes and pound the gut of the champ. Lopez digs her forehead into Jamie’s chest, and uses her shoulders and forearms to pin Jami to the ropes while dishing out unacceptable punishment. Luner's legs are rubbery, and a non factor from this point on as Jen's commitment to the body pays off. Jami, fighting with her arms in tight, drops short left hands onto Jen with a hammering motion from the elbow, and turns her torso into short rights in an effort to make Lopez back off.

R8: Luner shows her champion's heart, standing toe to toe inside with Jen, and beating the Latina to the punch with clipping uppercuts from either hand. Lopez still burrowing forward, actually shoves Luner almost through the ropes this round at one point.

R9: More toe to toe slugging as Luner can't get her legs into this bout. Jen eats her up, slowly bludgeoning the taller girl to the ropes, beating Luner into defensive shell, then shoving and slugging at will to the bell. Lopez feels it, and salutes the crowd as she walks back to her corner. Luner wears a look of resignation: she needs a miracle in the final round to pull this out.

R10: Jen Lopez doesn't believe in miracles. Having fought the perfect fight against Jamie Luner for 9 rounds, Jenny bulls forward, climbs into Luner's trunks once again to bang the body at close range. Luner exhausted, wobbling, fades straight back to avoid a vicious overhand right from Lopez, but the Latina recoils with the left uppercut to drape Jami over the ropes in a daze. All Jen Lopez to the bell, as she shuts Luner down, smothering the red head's attack, and goes to work on those battered abs. Luner goes out like a lamb, hunched forward, elbows in, taking short blows off her jaw and digging hooks to her torso with a glazed non-expression. At the bell, Lopez thrusts her fists in the air and mounts the ring posts to bellow at the crowd. The decision confirms her impulse: unanimous decision victory for Jennifer Lopez.

After: Luner is stunned, and celebrity boxing has a new queen as Jennifer Lopez brawls her way to victory. The body work took Luner's legs out of the fight, and made it an uphill struggle for the champ all night long. Lopez at 5'6" 120 has the ability to dominate 3 weight classes, and could be a legend in the making if she stays busy.
