8 Round Seniors Bout

Before: Post a strong slugging senior who could give many of today's top celebs a good work out promises a beating for Somers, citing Suzanne's laughable KO at the hands of Victoria Principal. Suzanne shrugs off the Principal fight, calling it an off-night, and once again she manages to incite a usually well-mannered opponent into a near rage during pre-fight. Whether or not Somers' agitation of Post will work to her advantage remains to be seen. Identical teal Adidas terrycloth trunks for both women, white jogbras, Somers a little pudgier around the hips and backside, a little looser through the arms.

During R1-2: Hammer and tongs action as both woman go mouth-on-shoulder with one another and bang it up inside. Markie takes the first, Suzanne the second in a surprisingly competitive slug fest. Neither woman takes a backward step as the two rotate slowly clockwise, taking turns bludgeoning short rights and lefts into the belly, breasts and jaw of the opponent. It's tit for tat action as both women seem content to give and take hard single shots. After two, both are glossy cheeked, and Markie's left eye looks swollen in her corner.

R3-7: So much for the competitive fight. Markie slowly comes to dominate this bout, walking Suzanne back to the ropes, and the fight becomes a beat down as a result of Suzanne's inability to box backing up, or counter effectively off the ropes. Markie is patient, wearing down the legs and body of her foe, fighting off Suzanne's chest, and using the shoulder to keep Somer's defensive. Minute after minute passes as Suzanne sits on the ropes, stooped forward, shuddering as Markie welts her side, or cranks a short right hand to her jaw. Somers takes and takes and takes as she is virtually shutout in every round, and there doesn't seem to be any reason for it. Post is stronger, but her attack is methodical, heavy handed and predictable - she's there to be countered, but Suzanne just can't get off. After 7, Markie's fists have Somers badly busted up, and Post is actually arm weary, having battered Suzanne relentlessly every minute of every round.

R8: An exhausted Markie Post leans on Suzanne, clinching and cruising to a clear decision as Somers does some punching. Suzanne works the midsection with some serviceable hooks, but she's too far gone to hurt Markie. At the bell, Post raises her gloves and shoves her chest into Suzanne, whose swollen face, puffy eyes and swollen lips seem oblivious to the outcome. Unanimous, and one sided, Markie Post.

After: Post famous for her savage beating of an ancient Raquel Welch earlier this year, almost repeats that farce with an equally cruel pounding of an outgunned opponent in Somers. Suzanne had earned the respect of Post initially, then inexplicably allowed Markie to walk her back, and fighting off the ropes proved a total disaster for Suzanne. Plucky and defiant after the Principal knockout, Suzanne is withdrawn and shell-shocked after this brutal, lengthy pummeling.
