BBU & ACB: "THE ASHES--Day One"

Lisa Gleave wearing a black bikini top, matching knickers and silver gloves. Long blonde hair in loose curls. Heidi Range wearing a red bikini top, white knickers and black gloves. Blonde hair straight, tucked behind the ears. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.

Round 1:
Gleave shows no ring rustiness whatsoever and jumps after her foe; if the BBU fans hoped for an easy start for their favorite they're up for a nasty surprise as the model smacks Heidi on the mouth straight away, pierces her mitts repeatedly and forces to back away even instead of engaging in a furious punchfest. Lisa follows up and keeps lashing out at the head, catches the singer on the temple and drills her chest thereafter, switching targets and just beating Range up in the opening minute as the Englih blonde struggles to handle the onslaught and reverts into clinching the model which finally brings her a much needed respite. More aggression from Lisa after the command though, she beats the singer for an overhand hook and bounces off her left eye, pours in with a series against the tummy and clips the jaw with a big uppercut in between with Heidi sagging on her knees and barely avoiding getting trapped on the ropes as the round concludes with the Aussue blonde in full control.

Round 2:
Lisa keeps harrassing the singer in the second, outworks Heidi in close distance as Geri Halliwell urged her compatriot to not hold back but it plays into Gleave's hands as she smacks the fellow blonde's face again and clips her jaw, pushes on the back foot and whacks her on the nose; pierces that guard again and forces Heidi to cover up and soak up punishment. More strikes over the top threaten to reel the English girl on the ropes and as Nikki Visser's smile keeps getting bigger and bigger in the ACB corner, Gleave switches low again and makes Heidi yelp in pain when a series around the elbows staggers her in the middle of the ring; another uppercut shatters the guard and clips the nose, left hook on the eye half-spins the blonde around and a right hook nails her on the mouth and SENDS TUMBLING TO THE CANVAS... Wembley Arena goes silent as Lisa really threatens to destroy Heidi in somewhat unexpected fashion... the English blonde beats the count at six but her face is a bit swollen already and she's lucky to escape some bloody marks as Lisa offers her a devilish smile and intends to follow up on that knockdown; Range in panic mode for remainder of the round, circles back around the ropes and avoids getting involved as the Aussie model mocks her tactics and calls a "coward" at the bell but it's all going wrong for the BBU in the first bout of the Ashes.

Round 3:
Gleave believes she's on the verge of breaking Range's spirit already and squares up to her again but Heidi stands her ground after a heavy lecture from her coaches during the interval and whacks the model on the chin to cause an uproar amongt the fans. Gleave has a suprerior reach advantage but fails to stretch her elbows this time as Heidi seeks more shots on the face and leans on the taller opponent, skims off the jaw again before firing around the arms and slamming leather against the ribcage. Lisa dekes to the side, tries to find some room but misses a hooking approach and eats a left hand on the jugs as Range half-uppercuts her and follows up with a right hand on the eye herself. Lisa's head snaps back and she's forced to back away but here comes Heidi straight-jabbing her mitts and forcing to weave around on her feet again. Gleave pursuits another big combo to tame the singer's charge but slips as she moves forward and enables the English blonde to land more shots on the midriff just before the bell as another uppercut just misses Lisa's nose but it' more than enough to claw one back for the local favorite.

Round 4:
Lisa blasts out of her stool and jabs at the singer's face again but Heidi finds a burst of speed across the canvas and moves much faster than in the opening two rounds. This results in more of the Aussie's efforts slicing the air instead of the flesh and the plan begins to work for the Sugababes singer as she's clearly trying to wear the model out here. Single shots from mid-range follow and they quickly burn Gleave's fuse as she loses her patience much quicker than expected and just wants to follow up on the knockdown from the second round but must acknowledge Heidi's speed advantage and falls into a countering trap late in the round as Heidi smacks her over the top, slips in when Lisa loses her balance after another missed hook and eats a left/right combo on the chest, overhand reply from the model; Range just beats her for a trademark uppercut and staggers on the spot with a big left; Gleave's attempt sizzles wide of the mark and she stumbles to her side as Heidi rips into her stomach and reels back to the ropes. Bell saves the model from more trouble and the smile has been well and truly wiped off Nikki Visser's face after a difficult round for her protegee.

Round 5:
Heidi's more relaxed in her corner and the cutmen have far less work on her face compared to the first couple of rounds but she gets no respite from the raging opponent as another aggressive leap has Lisa slamming leather against her midriff before overhand switch bounces off the eye and engages Range in a proper leather trade-off. Gleave makes the most out of her reach advantage and snaps Heidi's head back & forth but the local blonde refuses to buckle despite couple of nasty lumps now appearing on her face and drills the Aussie's cleavage instead, lands a big left on the money and takes the breath out of Gleave's lungs who drops her charge and must take a step back, looking for some air. Range jumps after her though and pierces the mitts with a fine hook on the jaw, throws more leather upstairs and responds witha head-snapping combo herself, bounces off the cheeks as Lisa fails to deal with the close range assault and falls on the ropes where she covers up but doesn't respond to the singer peppering her body; yet Heidi just can't break her down and accepts a late clinch instead. All even at half-distance with Denise van Outen suggesting to Kylie Minogue that Heidi's done enough to win all three rounds after the knockdown.

Round 6:
Neither girl shows much fatigue yet and Victoria Beckham convinces Heidi into another close range attack which has the two blondes trading leather from the start of the sixth; Gleave's aggressive approach meets a proper test now as she slams more leather against her foe's face and in fact Heidi looks more roughed up of the two but refuses to yield an inch and pounds away at the rack, forces Lisa to switch into midsection assault as the gloves hammer away at the body; Heidi ducks to the side and shows superior footwork again, counters from the side and Gleave for once was slow to raise her arms; eats a hook on the nose and yelps in pain as Range jumps after her and almost wrestles to the ground as they bounce off each other's flesh, Heidi's elbow tags the breast as the English blonde leans on her opponent and nearly headbutts her in the proccess; Lisa with too much weight on the back foot gets pushes to the ropes and allthough she spikes Heidi on the ribcage gets her breasts pressed by that loose elbow, left hook slams her on the jaw though as the English blonde breaks the clinch and finds another right hand on the jaw that nails Lisa clean and she wasn't ready for that whatsoever, another quick leap from the singer, jabbing combo slices the mitts apart and rocks the model's head back & forth as there's some commotion in the VIP lounge; Range slamming gloves into the visitor's face and wobbling her all over the place, left uppercut stumbles Lisa to the side and she's slow to raise again, gets whacked from the other side with another right hook which tears a nasty patch against her cheek and suddenly it's all about the local favorite as the crowd goes wild but it's too late to make more in-roads in this round and quite frankly Gleave got saved from a really bad punishment in the end as the smaller blonde refuses to walk back to her corner and mocks the model's performance instead before finally getting shoved away by the ref.

Round 7:
Nikki Visser looks like she wants a helping hand from Elle MacPherson but the ACB Head Trainer still hasn't showed up in Lisa's corner, as the matter of fact nor did Elizabeth Hurley in Heidi's but Geri and Posh are doing just fine themselves and in fact the BBU blonde looks as fired up as ever and leaps after the visitor again, beats her for a jabbing combo on the rack and seeks another uppercut as Lisa covers up but eats more jabs on the ribcage anyway. Her cutmen did a good job with patching up that cheek wound but Heidi shows how it's done regardless and pounds away at the ribs as Gleave struggles in close range and keeps missing her shots as her foe ducks low on her feet and peppers the jugs again. Lisa looks tired at the minute mark already, one punch too many on the cleavage and she's never gone beyond the fifth round in her career on top of that. Heidi storms to ribcage destruction, notices Lisa's fight for every breath now and keeps drilling her mitts against the flesh and reels her back to the ropes thanks to sheer strenght as the Aussie model tries to clinch her but gets whacked by another uppercut on the jaw again and just sags back on the ropes. Heidi pours in with overhand leather and slices the mitts apart as Gleave offers nothing back and allows the singer to work her over again; crowd urges their favorite to finally send the visitor down but with all her fitness flaws, Lisa shows great punching resistance, avoids a knockdown despite Heidi raining leather on her all though the final minute but one must wonder how long will she last now that she can barely walk to her corner and really can't find her breath anymore. Meanwhile Heidi's so pumped up, she doesn't even want to sit down and must be dragged by her coaches to finally take a seat.

Round 8:
Denise van Outen is convinced that Heidi will maul Lisa into submission soon and the speed & agility difference is on display early in the eight again as Gleave swings and misses on repeated basis and does her stamina no good at all; English blonde bides her time to see the Aussie model wear herself out for good before pouncing on the minute mark with great success; she staggers Gleave on the spot with another left/right combo and finds that uppercut again to drop the model's arms, pours in with jabbing series on the nose and has Lisa trembling on her knees and soaking up unanswered punishment as the London crowd goes wild one more time; Heidi pounds away to glory and butcher's Lisa's face with a vicious assault and the model's knees finally give way... SHE CRASHES FACE-FIRST at the singer's feet and there are bloody stains on Heidi's cleavage as she opened up a couple of nasty wounds on the model's face... Gleave on all fours at six but she bursts into spasms therafter and just can't pick herself off the floor... Nikki Visser yells out at her but realizes it's all futile when the count reaches nine and the otherwise proud model is still on all fours and unable to do anything about it... KO8 Heidi Range!!!

AFTER: Heidi's all smiles after the count and leaps into Posh and Geri's arms but she really had to work very hard for this win. Lisa Gleave was pounding her like she wanted to in the opening two rounds and even Kylie Minogue just doesn't understand how the fight turned out the way it did later: "We got robbed! Lisa was punching the crap out of Heidi before the duck & weave tactics threw her off balance! What a nightmare start for ACB!"

Nikki Visser helps Lisa to get off the ring and while the model looked better than Heidi for most of the fight, her face got wrecked in the closing stages and she leaves the Arena with a couple of deep cuts on both cheeks plus one on the nose bridge. More importantly she can't hold back the spasms though and needs some consoling as obviously her pride suffered an equally painful blow tonight as her physical shape. But Nikki has no time to deal with Lisa anymore as the announcers call the next bout already and Sarah Cummings escorts the battered model back to the locker room only to find out the place has experienced a small tornado with Liz Hurley and Elle MacPherson rolling on the floor and ripping each other's hair out... The mysterious absence of both Head Trainers have been solved but more on that later...

Final result: Heidi Range def. Lisa Gleave KO8.
