BBU & ACB present "The Ashes 2013" - Day Two

The visitors clawed their way back to the Ashes thanks to Havana Brown's upsetting stoppage of Jade Ewen but Denise van Outen teases her co-commentator that Sophie Monk has her back against the wall and simply must deliver another upset on Alesha Dixon if her team stands any chance of taking the Urn back to Melbourne. "We're not done yet and it's a mammoth task for Sophie. She still hasn't won a single fight despite fighting lightweights, bantams, flyweight turned bantams and welters! I mean, she's tried it all and always came up short. Quite frankly she wasn't even close to winning any of her fights and while you, Kylie, dismissed Lucy Pinder's chances against Miranda Kerr yeterday, I will do the same with Monk right now! Alesha will beat the stuffing out of her and make the Aussies regret they ever thought of Sophie as a celebrity boxer!"

Kylie knows she's up against it and even the presence of Kimberly Davies in Monk's corner might not be enough to upset the most experienced BBU fighter in history. "Sure, Denise, Alesha's had a rough patch lately, but we've all seen it before with her. She pummelled NatBass on the previous Ashes and we all remember that very, very well. But how about two upsets in a row and let's find out how that battering Dixon took from Charlotte Church affects her confidence."

While Kylie fails to mention that before the Church downfall, Alesha won four straight fights, including a massive one against arch-rival Jessica Schwarz, the London crowd doesn't need any reminder and cheers the 35 year old singer to score a brutal victory in yesterday's Nicola McLean-manner if possible! But Sophie seems to be handling the underdog pressure well and if there's someone who suffered more upset defeats than others in her career it's probably Alesha Dixon and that's Sophie's chance.

Sophie Monk wearing a navy blue bikini and yellow gloves. Alesha Dixon wearing a red bikini and black gloves.

Round 1:
Alesha wastes no time in jabbing to the blonde's guts and peppers her from mid-distance, swings couple of big hooks around the head and Sophie's tactics see her on the back foot early. But that only plays into Alesha's hands and the BBU's pin-up girl makes the most of her untamed aggression, keeps lashing out at the midsection before finally catching Sophie on the jaw properly. That gets the blonde going as she cracks couple of jabs on the cheeks but eats more on the tummy again and wobbles a bit as Dixon slices her guard and connects with the face instead. Alesha slaps her foe wide, almost too wide and enables the blonde to dance around on her feet avoiding most of the leather but still gets tagged on the temple and leans forward as Dixon slams her with another uppercut to continue her rout for remainder of the round and pummel Sophie back to the ropes just before the bell.

Round 2:
The Wembley Arena crowd expected nothing less from Alesha who hassles the blonde early in the second and as Elle MacPherson grits her teeth in the ACB corner, Sophie throws some jabs on the face and tries to tame the English singer's onslaught. Alesha dekes around after taking couple of shots on the cheeks and counters on the midriff again, seems to be enjoying all those punches to the body and makes the blonde wince in pain as she clips her chest and buries another uppercut on the jaw. Monk wobbles back but is annoyed and leaps for an immediate response.. gets clubbed on the nose with a right hook and a follow up from the other side nails her on the hairline AND SENDS TUMBLING TO THE CANVAS with Dixon showing some strenght much to the crowd's delight! Grim looks in the ACB corner though as the fights goes south early even though Sophie beats the count at five and makes some gestures towards her foe. "Elle should have told her NOT to annoy our dear Alesha!", Denise laughs in the booth as the ex-BBU champ targets the head and clips the blonde's cheeks after the command. More low jabs follow and Sophie's low guard is vulnerable as she can't prevent Alesha from cleaning her out and pushing to the ropes in the final minute. Body slamming from Dixon... she makes the guest actress moan louder and louder as the bell nears and signs off the round with another uppercut on the jaw and that's exactly what the doctor ordered after the Jade Ewen disaster!

Round 3:
Sophie turns aggressive at the start of the third and fires back at Dixon's body, goes around her elbows and almost headbutts her as she jumps into close range and cracks more leather on the ribcage. Alesha's footwork lets her down a bit but she halts the blonde's progress with a precise cross-hooking combo on the mouth; Sophie sags on her knees but keeps peppering the midsection until another combo bounces off her nose and wobbles on the back foot for good. Dixon refuses to give her any respite and leaps after her, pummels the jugs and finds another uppercut that sends the blonde on the ropes. Monk bounces off them and stumbles to the side, that effectively prevents Alesha catching her with a flying hook and leaves crashing to the ropes instad, Sophie sends a flurry of punches just as Dixon was turning back and one big hook suddenly slices the English vixen on the nose and leaves trapped as Monk pours in with more jabs and rocks the breasts up & down with Alesha taking more punishment afterwards and falling onto the turnbuckle in disarray. Sophie keeps working her yellow mitts but fails to land more meaningful punches before the bell; still that's a pleasant change to her fortunes and Kylie Minogue thinks she can produce that upset after all; Denise reckons it's a long shot anyway and predicts Dixon storming at her instead.

Round 4:
Kimberly Davies urges the blonde to make the most of that late round flurry despite it's accidental nature and nobody needs to tell anything to Dixon and both girls tangle in the middle of the ring and spike each other's flesh, Monk with a jabbing series on the face, slams her mitts on the cheeks and wobbles Alesha slightly but then eats a couple of uppercuts on the rack herself and gasps for air as Dixon slams a right hook on the eye and staggers her to the side. Another left hook over the top crashes off the eye and forces the blonde back; she mounts another go but Alesha's flying with more jabs and slices her guard, tags the jaw and leaves stumling to the ropes. No let off this time as Alesha traps her with more slaps on the tummy, buries a series on the ribacge and searches more success upstairs. Sophie tries to clinch her, gets whacked on the jaw again and remains stuck on the ropes with Alesha back to pounding her midriff and softening up even more. The English singer blocks her rival's right arm and works around the elbows, bends to the side and manages to find some shots on the breasts late in the going again and Monk breaths very hard at the bell, losing this vicious exchange and suddenly Kylie supports another gameplan tweak from the ACB coaches.

Round 5:
There's no change in Alesha's tactics though as she lashes out at the blonde straight away, works around the elbows early and staggers slowly but surely before finding more uppercuts on the rack that really seem to be bothering Sophie. She tries to cover up her aching tits but gets whacked on the temple instead and Dixon cracks a left/right combo between the arms, splits those yellow mitts and bounces off the nose, switches for more stomach assault and has Monk wobbling back & forth, another series of shots on the head, couple of them skim off the temples but a precise left hook finally finds it's way on the right eye AND SENDS THE BLONDE SPAWLING DOWN ON THE CANVAS... Sophie's way too hittable on the long run and Alesha makes her pay again, gestures towards her as the Aussie struggles to beat the count with the ammount of leather thrown at her beginning to affect her for sure.. Monk's up at seven but remains on the back foot and has breathing problems on top of that as Dixon blasts more hooks on the head and simply backs her foe on the ropes with Sophie throwing single punches from behind the guard but eating another jab on the nose right at the bell and suddenly looking very tired.

Round 6:
Elle and Kimberly try to revive their aching girl's confidence but there's no way Sophie can maul Alesha into exhaustion anymore as the local favorite traps the blonde with another flurry of punches early in the sixth, slices the guard with ease and keeps crashing off the face with Monk slumping down on her knees. This just fuels Dixon's charge and the veteran looks in perfect shape tonight; she shatters Sophie's mitts one more time and bounces off her nose, snaps the head back on a repeated basis and SIMPLY THUMPS MONK TO THE GROUND as the Aussie leaned back and lost her balance... loud pop around the Wembley Arena as the falling blonde landed really hard on her bums and she rolls to the side and looks utterly spent... wild screams from the ACB coaches but Sophie only makes it back into sitting position at seven and doesn't even make the effort of getting up; she's counted out while sitting down on the floor and staring at the ref's feet... KO6 Alesha Dixon!!!

AFTER: No surprise in the eleventh fight of the Ashes as Sophie Monk just couldn't handle the most experienced BBU girl allthough she lasted almost twice as long as Natalie Bassingthwaighte two years ago and had her one chance in the third when Alesha lost her footing and became vulnerable for a short period of time. All in all, a routine victory for the ex-bantamweight champion but according to Georgie Thompson, the ACB coaching staff never seriously considered a second upset in a row and Sophie still gets a pad on the back for holding on for almost six rounds against one of the toughest fighters in England.

Back in the booth both Denise and Kylie keep arguing about the eventual outcome of the Ashes as the English blonde fails to convince her co-commentator that BBU's second day line-up is stronger compared to yesterday's. Meanwhile Charlie Webster indicates that the guests are still particulary concerned about the Finch vs Humes bout in case the predicted coin-flipper coming up next goes awry for Jessica Marais. We'll be back after these messages!

Final result: Alesha Dixon def. Sophie Monk KO6.
