BEFORE:

"I have no idea why this girl's management agreed to book her against ME," says Shannen with a smirk and a shake of the head. "I have more career wins than she has fights. She's green as grass and she's about to get in over her head. In a big way."

"Shannen's right about one thing," says Kat with a smile. "She has a lot more experience than me. But I'm not sure how much good that's going to do her when she's on her back counting lights. I guess we'll see, won't we?"

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and..."

McCarthy: "What's THAT noise?"

O'Dell: "That would be 'Mental Pollution'..."

McCarthy: "More like NOISE pollution..."

O'Dell: "By the lady coming to the ring right now, Shannen Doherty!"

Tess: "Shannen, of course, a three-time FCBA champion at two weights..."

McCarthy: "And, as a singer, she makes a good fighter."

O'Dell: "Doherty into the ring. Helped off with the robe to reveal a red number that shows she's still in excellent shape...and that's 'I Don't Feel Like Dancing', by Scissor Sisters, and here comes 'The Rack', Kat Dennings!"

McCarthy: "I kinda like that nickname. That could have been MY nickname when I fought. Jenny 'The Rack' McCarthy..."

Cassie: "Only, Kat's rack is real, not made of the finest grade of silicone..."

McCarthy: "SHUT it, Scabbo..."

Tess: "I repeat, it's FUN having Cassie on the broadcasts..."

O'Dell: "Dennings into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that black number she likes, and it's time for some picks. Tess favors Kat. What do you think, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Dennings has potential, but she has weak trainers like Jewel and Campbell and HORRID management. That's why the kid has been so inconsistent. And, it says here, she isn't good enough to beat a veteran like Shannen."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

McCarthy: "Wait for it..."

Cassie: "I agree with Tess."

O'Dell: "Well, we've got some disagreement for the first time tonight. Let's see who's right. Shannen going right to the jab off the bell. Following up with that right hand. Dennings, of course, wants to close and work body..."

Tess: "Shannen still has some quickness, doesn't she, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Hands still have plenty of speed, no question. Using that jab well, making Dennings work to get in close..."

O'Dell: "But Kat weaving forward, getting where she needs to be and going body, thumping away downstairs until Shannen ties and the referee forces a break. Doherty then back to the jab, looking to score with the right and managing to do so. Dennings not giving her breathing space, though, working in, crowding, banging downstairs..."

Cassie: "This is definitely part of Kat's style. She loves to work the body and she's very successful when she does it. It's a particularly good strategy in this one, against an older woman like Shannen. You want to take the legs in those late rounds, and this is a way to do it."

O'Dell: "Both ladies working hard and both scoring well down the stretch, Shannen up top and Kat down below. Final seconds tick off and we get a NICE exchange at the bell...and nobody going back to their corners. Check out THIS staredown...ref quickly in between to chase them back. Good round and close, but Dennings got it."

Tess: "This could be a close fight, and that 10-9 win in the first might be important later."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second round begins with more of the same. Shannen looking to jab and drop rights in follow, Kat wanting to close, crowd, and work body. Doherty lands a good right and Kat follows with a couple of hooks to the lats. Doherty ties up, referee breaks. Shannen back to the left...AND SHE HURT DENNINGS WITH THAT RIGHT HAND!"

McCarthy: "Caught her stepping forward. Timed it perfectly, and Dennings is in trouble!"

O'Dell: "Shannen going to work now, letting both hands go. Kat unsteady, thrown completely to the defensive, giving ground, keeping the guard high as Doherty piles on..."

Cassie: "Shannen VERY aggressive right now, but like a crafty veteran, not sloppy. Very effective. Setting everything up and taking full advantage of the fact that Kat's clearly buzzed."

O'Dell: "Dennings backed to the ropes, firing back in spots, but Shannen not bothered, banging away with both hands, scoring good, clean shots, looking for the off switch. Final seconds now, and Doherty a good left hook, but there's the bell and Dennings survives..."

Tess: "And gets a smirk from Shannen as Doherty turns back to her corner."

Cassie: "No question who won that round. And the fight is now even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Underway in the third and Shannen back to work, going right after Kat, looking to follow up on last round...AND DOWN SHE GOES! Dennings with a short right hook and Doherty blown to her back! And Dennings standing over her staring down...referee physically spins Kat around and points her to a neutral corner, then begins the count. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Doherty rolls to all fours. Seven. Eight. And Shannen's on her feet..."

McCarthy: "Dennings may have cost herself a knockout by not going to a neutral corner..."

O'Dell: "Shannen takes the mandatory. Referee going to let it continue. And here comes Kat! Dennings banging away, forcing Shannen back into the ropes immediately. Doherty in the high, tight guard, putting the ribs, lats, and midsection on sale, and Kat's looking to clear the shelf! Dennings pounding away to the body, trying to bring the guard down, and landing a HARD straight right to the head when she gets an opening..."

Cassie: "Kat's a finisher. Five of her seven wins are by KO. And she's looking to finish right now."

O'Dell: "And Shannen all about survival. Tying up when the can, refusing to break when the referee orders it, forcing him to physically separate the fighters, doing all she can to run clock. Kat staying busy downstairs, punching out of some of the clinches, and landing a big flurry to the head at the bell! Another exchange of glares and Shannen a little wobbly on the way back to the corner."

Tess: "And Kat has some bounce in her step and has the right to. That 10-8 round gives her the 29-27 lead."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth starts the opposite of the third, as now it's Kat aggressive, looking to follow up on her big third round. Shannen busy with the left, making Dennings work to get to her spots, BANGS home a good right that got Kat's attention. Dennings undeterred, still going after Shannen...AND DOHERTY WOBBLES HER WITH A RIGHT HAND!"

McCarthy: "Doherty's like a cornered animal when she's hurt. Very dangerous. As Dennings just found out!"

O'Dell: "Shannen going all in now, putting everything behind her punches, piling on to a buzzed Kat. Dennings backing and covering as Doherty finds the range and begins shelling with big guns. Now it's Dennings backed to the ropes and Doherty pounding away..."

Cassie: "This has been a heck of a fight already..."

O'Dell: "Dennings now trying to run clock like Shannen did last round, clinching, tying Doherty up around the head. Shannen just keeps working, punching free, going body some now, then working her way up. Kat pawing at her, shoving Shannen off, but Doherty right back at the younger woman, banging away to the bell! Quite an answering rally for Shannen Doherty!"

Tess: "We said this might be a close one. Through four, 38-37, Dennings."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "The fifth starts with Shannen now looking to follow up. Doherty a good combination, and Dennings fires right back and here we go! Neither brunette going to take a step back, in fact, Dennings going forward, closing through Shannen's gloves and going to work in close..."

Tess: "Kat loves to work in the phone booth, get in tight and bang away..."

O'Dell: "And that's what she's doing now, fighting right off Shannen's chest...and Shannen giving as good as she gets in there. Doherty digging some body now and Kat more than willing to play that game. Dennings thumping away downstairs as Shannen goes back to the head..."

Cassie: "There's nothing tactical or artistic about this. These two are just banging away like they're working heavies."

O'Dell: "And they're both upping the volume as the round winds down. Neither fighter holding back. Both putting everything behind their punches, hammering away at one another, refusing to punk, and there's the bell...staredown...Doherty shoves Dennings and Kat shoves back! Referee in between them now, again forcing them back to their corners..."

Tess: "I'm guessing you aren't going to have to deal with one of those hugs you hate in this one, Mac..."

McCarthy: "So far, we've had a hugless card, and I'm loving it. Meanwhile, that round was close, but you have to give it to Kat, which puts Dennings back up two, 48-46."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth round begins with Shannen aggressive again, winging away from the outside, but Dennings again weaving forward, showing good head and hand movement, closing the distance, going to work in tight..."

McCarthy: "This can be an effective way to smother some of a girl's power. Shannen can't extend like she wants to at this range."

O'Dell: "Doherty trying to push Dennings off, but Kat's plenty sturdy, hard to move. She shoulders forward and begins banging that misection again. Doherty now responding in kind to the body. Shannen digging with great enthusiasm, as is Dennings. Both thumping away hard, bumping and grinding in tight."

Cassie: "The difference is, Shannen's being forced to fight like this, and Kat's doing it because she wants to."

O'Dell: "Doherty tying up, holding and hitting a bit. Gets a warning from the referee and pays it no mind. Goes right back to work, working her way upstairs, then back down. Dennings mostly concentrating on the chassis, coming upstairs just enough to keep Shannen honest. Both girls still banging strong right to the final bell! No shoves this time, but another staredown! And another close round, pounded out inside by Dennings."

Tess: "And that puts Kat up 58-55 after six."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "We move to the seventh now, and Doherty again working the left, trying to pick Dennings off and set her up for the right handed power. Kat determined and slick. Moving forward, getting past Shannen's pickets and closing to bang in tight once again. Doherty can't get space, Mac..."

McCarthy: "Give the kid credit, she's dictating terms right now. She's getting where she wants to to smother Doherty's power and work the body for points and effect."

Cassie: "And Doherty HAS power. This is a girl who's knocked out Carlson, Dushku, Hewitt, Danes, Williams, Milano, Pressly, and Ricci..."

McCarthy: "Thank you, Maryann Webster..."

Tess: "Mary..."

Cassie: "We don't have enough time left in 2013 to clear this up, Tess..."

Tess: "Good point..."

O'Dell(sighing): "And, sooner or later, the body work IS going to have an effect. One way or the other, because both girls are getting plenty done in there, doing plenty of damage to the ribs, lats, and midsection. Shannen again working more upstairs than Kat, who's concentrating almost exclusively on the body."

Cassie: "Kat very comfortable right now. In good rhythm, doing what she wants to do."

O'Dell: "Doherty managing to get a little space in spots, landing good stuff when she does, but Dennings quickly crowds again, smothers, goes back to work to the body. Shannen trying everything, shoving off, tying up, doing anything she can to get some breathing room, but Kat not having any. Keeping the pressure on right to the bell. And Dennings has put another into her column."

Tess: "68-64 Dennings with three to go."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Back to work in round eight and Doherty again letting 'em go! Shannen a couple of hard shots, but Dennings again works past, gets in close, and makes with the pressure. Doherty banging right back once again, but being forced to play Kat's game..."

Tess: "How do you handle pressure like this, Mac? What do you do to get space?"

McCarthy: "Well, I liked to dance with fighters who tried this on me. Use movement to make them chase, pick them off on the way in, wear them down that way. Shannen's not that kind of fighter, though. So, what she has to do is keep her off with leather, but Dennings has succeeded at getting past her gloves."

O'Dell: "And she's doing good work when she does so. Doherty landing some hard shots of her own, but she can't move Dennings. And Kat's just out scoring her on work rate in there..."

McCarthy: "Give Doherty credit for being plenty sturdy. A lot of girls would be feeling all this body work in their legs, but Shannen taking it and continuing to give back."

O'Dell: "Doherty, of course, a former champion at this weight, and she's fighting like it. No give up, tons of compete. Dennings gritty and determined in there, shouldering, thumping leather home, getting plenty of work done. And a good exchange there! And another! And another! Both fighters going after one another hard in the closing seconds and there's the bell and we've got more shoving! Referee again in quickly to send the girls back to their corners. Another competitive round, but another win for Kat Dennings."

Tess: "And she's got it on the cards now, 78-73 with two to go. Doherty will need something big."

ROUND NINE:

O'Dell: "Six minutes to go as the fighters engage again. Doherty giving a little ground now to try to get some space, using a slide step, but Dennings matching, closing, banging, and Doherty's forced right back into that phone booth."

Cassie: "This is really good stuff from Kat tonight. She's controlling the ring as well as she's ever done in her career. I'd look to see if there's a smile on Neve Campbell's face, but we all know there's no point..."

O'Dell: "But Campbell's got to be plenty happy with what she's seeing. This is determined, consistent work from Dennings. Doherty's pulling out every trick in her veteran's bag, but Kat's not having any of them. She knows where she wants to be, knows what she wants to do, and that's what she's doing."

Tess: "She may not be imposing will, but she's dictating terms, and that's working pretty well."

O'Dell: "Certainly is. Kat staying downstairs most of the time. Working up every so often. Doherty firing back, scoring points of her own, but can't match the work rate in these close quarters. Final seconds of the round ticking away, one final exchange and there's the bell and ANOTHER staredown!"

McCarthy: "We may be setting a record for those. Meanwhile, that's another round for Dennings, and she's now built a huge 88-82 lead with one round to go. But, don't count Shannen out. Dancing Hookers are famous for spitting the bit."

ROUND TEN:

O'Dell: "Final round begins with Dennings pressuring again, Shannen trying to keep her off, but Kat right back in tight, hooking the body, giving Doherty no space...RIGHT HOOK, DENNINGS AND DOHERTY'S ROCKED!"

McCarthy: "Caught Shannen dipping! Nailed her with that hook..."

O'Dell: "And Dennings going after Doherty now, forcing her back into the ropes and letting both hands go! Shannen in a high, tight guard, putting the body on sale, and Kat's stocking up."

Tess: "They're right above us and you can hear the leather banging flesh up there! Kat really getting everything into her punches."

O'Dell: "Doherty has no answers right now, jabbing enough to keep the referee at bay, but mostly just leaning forward with her gloves high, trying to cover up. Kat pinning her to the ropes, whacking punches off the guard, splits it with an uppercut that wobbled Shannen again! Doherty clinching, running clock, Dennings punching free in the final seconds, lands a good left hook, and there's the bell! And Dennings pushes up off Shannen, gets a hate-filled glare for her troubles, and simply turns and raises her arms on her way back to the corner..."

McCarthy: "Not going to be any doubt about this one..."

Cassie: "My card says 98-91, and there's no question this was the best fight of Kat's career. Some excellent work. In control the whole way. Nothing sloppy or wild. Worked hard for ten rounds and still had something left at the finish. Her management is going to be very happy with this..."

O'Dell: "Decision announced, and, no suprise it IS unanimous, and your winner by UD10 is Kat 'The Rack' Dennings!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I've got our winner, Kat Dennings, and, Kat, no love between you and Shannen before, during, or after the fight..."

Kat: "Tess, this girl came out here talkin' s**t about everything the big, tough veteran was going to do to the poor little newbie. And, you know what she did? Nothing. Except get her a** whipped over every inch of that ring."

Tess: "You kind of made her fight your fight tonight..."

Kat(smiling): "Exactly. I did exactly what I wanted in there. I worked body, I fought off her chest, I tenderized her a** all night long. And I had her ready to go, too. Give me 30 more seconds, she'd have sucked canvas."

Tess: "Some folks at the announce table think this might have been the best fight of your career so far..."

Kat(shaking her head and smiling): "Ask Neve about that. All I know is, I whipped a beyotch's a**!"
