BEFORE:

"Of COURSE, I'm the underdog," says Keri with the hint of a smile. "I'm just the thirtysomething girl trying to finally break in. She's the big star. But, you know, if I won, it wouldn't be the biggest upset in the history of Asylum, would it? Maybe there's something in the water in Philly."

"I like Keri," says Kristen with a nod. "She's a class act and always has been. And I know she's thinking about making a splash tonight. And, make no mistake, she's capable of surprising people. But, it's not going to happen tonight."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Red Rain' by Peter Gabriel, one of the favorite artists of the girl coming to the ring right now, Keri Russell..."

McCarthy: "You know, Weirdo ought to spend some of that money he's always crowing about and hire some people to fact check the info they feed us! The song is called 'PURPLE Rain' and the artist is PRINCE..."

Tess: "Have you ever HEARD 'Purple Rain', Mac?"

McCarthy: "Of COURSE I have. I went to see the movie when I was just a little girl..."

Cassie: "The only movies they had when YOU were a little girl were SILENTS..."

McCarthy: "SHUT IT, SCABBO..."

Tess: "Back to my point, does this SOUND like 'Purple Rain', Mac?"

McCarthy: "Well, not really. It must be some kind of remix..."

Tess: "Yes, that must be it..."

O'Dell(sighing): "Russell into the ring, helped off with the robe by the DBC corner to reveal a nice pink two-piece..."

McCarthy: "Why is she coming to the ring to 'Purple Rain'..."

O'Dell: "'RED Rain'..."

McCarthy: "And wearing a PINK bikini?"

Tess: "Maybe because they couldn't license 'Pink Moon'?"

McCarthy: "I don't want to hear any of PINK'S music! She sucks and she ducked me for YEARS..."

Tess: "'Pink Moon' is not..."

O'Dell: "Aaaaaaannnndddd that's 'Helter Skelter' by The Fab Four, and here comes 'The Five-Tool Player', Kristen Stewart!"

Tess: "Have you ever heard of Nick Drake, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Of course! That was Rick Springfield's character on 'General Hospital'! Now Rick had some GREAT songs! I loved 'Jessie's Girl'."

Cassie: "All of this actually makes a kind of twisted sense..."

O'Dell: "Stewart into the ring, helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal the lime green two-piece she likes, and we're about ready for picks. Tess favors Stewart. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Russell is a typical Front Street opponent. No FCBA wins. Stewart isn't anything special, but she's the favorite because she's had a fight in the last 15 years!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And here we go. K-Stew to work quickly, using that length to her advantage. Sticking out that long left hand, keeping Keri at bay with it, then dropping in rights to touch Russell up."

Cassie: "Kristen is 5'6". She's a tall fly. Has reach on most girls in the division. And has a lot of power for fly, too. Keri's feeling some of both of those now."

O'Dell: "No question Kristin has all the physical advantages in this one, and, as you point out, Cassie, she's making good use of them. That accurate left causing lots of problems for Keri, who's being kept on the end of it, directly in range of the right hand."

McCarthy: "Russell's got to figure out a way to deal with this. She hasn't fought in the FCBA in years, but she started boxing in 1998. She's had a ton of fights at other levels. The official scouting report on her from the Commissioner's office says she's skilled and slick. She's going to need to show some of that."

O'Dell: "Right now, it's Stewart dictating terms and pace, and Keri isn't able to do much with either. Final seconds ticking off with Kristen in command. There's the bell. Shutout round K-Stew."

Tess: "And the early 10-9 lead for Stewart."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Back to work in the second, and Russell with a bit of a level change here, Mac. Looking to work forward in a quarter crouch, hands high, getting past the Stewart jab and working in close..."

McCarthy: "Here's some of that skill and slickness we were told was here. Keri getting into range where she can score. Stewart banging back, and we've got good, two-way stuff happening now."

O'Dell: "Stewart still scoring well herself, showing that accuracy she's known for. Russell getting off plenty of her own shell now, scoring both to the head and body."

Cassie: "These aren't bad terms for Kristen. She can fight like this. But, for Keri, this gives her a chance to compete, unlike the rules of engagement in the first round."

O'Dell: "And compete she is. Russell with a couple of good flurries in the closing seconds. Caught Stewart's attention with a good right hand in there. Stewart a good left hook. Keri another solid right, and there's the bell. Good round. I think Russell got it late."

Tess: "Agreed. And we're all even at 19 after two."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third round begins with Russell again in the quarter crouch trying to work forward. Stewart lands a good left-right...and she hurt Russell with that right hand!"

McCarthy: "Caught her clean with it coming in and Keri definitely buzzed!"

O'Dell: "K-Stew following up quickly, backing Keri into the ropes and going to work. Russell covering up, using good head and shoulder movement to make a difficult target, but Stewart still finding the range."

Tess: "Kristen patient here. Not going all in. Scoring points, but not forcing anything."

O'Dell: "And Russell countering now, seems to have shaken it off fairly quickly. Keri working well off the ropes. K-Stew responding with some combinations of her own."

Cassie: "This is good, accurate stuff from both girls. Neither doing a lot of missing."

O'Dell: "And the good, accurate fire continues down the stretch. Russell giving as good as she's getting in the latter stages of this one. There's the bell, and Kristen gets the round, but a nice rally from Keri."

Tess: "Stewart back up 29-28 through three."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth round underway now, and Keri's back in that quarter crouch. Has the gloves up high. Moving the head and shoulders, working forward past K-Stew's jab and going to work in range. Stewart willing to engage on these terms, and she can score from here as well."

McCarthy: "But, again, this is far better for Keri than being out on the end of the taller girl's jab. She can work here, and she's doing it."

O'Dell: "Stewart giving a little ground, now, as Russell's getting the better of the close work. Not hurting Stewart, but landing more stuff. Kristen just as busy, but Keri crafty, catching punches on her gloves, ducking and rolling them, side stepping. Lots of clever stuff in here."

Cassie: "Kristen staying patient, not getting frustrated, but Russell definitely controlling this round. She's where she wants to be and doing what she wants to do."

O'Dell: "Keri in the best rhythm she's been in all night. Got everything working in combination. Stewart not hurt, but coming off second best as the final seconds tick away. There's the bell, and Russell controls that one throughout."

Tess: "And evens it back up at 38 through four."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Fifth begins with Russell again working forward with the gloves high. Stewart wants to work body in close now. Kristen digging at Keri's flanks...AND RUSSELL NAILS STEWART WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Good short right hand got K-Stew's attention!"

McCarthy: "Perfectly timed, which is what Keri needs if she's going to hurt Stewart."

O'Dell: "Kristen giving ground now as Russell goes to work. Keri landing with both hands. Not going all in for a stoppage. Taking her points, and she's ringing up quite a few of them. Stewart doing a little counter-punching, but not much more than that."

Cassie: "Trying to get the legs back. She definitely got buzzed by that right hand. Seems to be stabilizing now, though."

O'Dell: "Stewart jabbing Keri off, getting to the center of the ring and going to work with the left. Russell bouncing forward, landing a good combination of her own. Final seconds ticking away and there's the bell. Russell's round, and let me say it, Keri's got to be opening some eyes tonight."

Tess: "And she's also taken the lead for the first time. 48-47 through five."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Back to action in round six and Russell again working forward with the high hands. Stewart looking to land that laser-guided left. Russell rolling the shoulders, moving the head, getting into range and scoring..."

Tess: "Got to wonder what's going through Stewart's mind right now. She's known as a very smart fighter, and she is, but she's maybe getting out-smarted a little by a slick, veteran fighter..."

O'Dell: "RIGHT HAND, K-STEW! Stewart rocks Russell with a short right and Keri quickly in retreat. Kristen coming forward behind the left, backing a wobbly Keri into the ropes and going to work."

McCarthy: "Stewart landing some crisp shot now. Russell still moving the head and hands, not making herself an easy target, but Kristen's wobbled her legs and she's taking advantage."

O'Dell: "Stewart patient, setting things up nicely. Keri countering some now, handling herself well, not panicking. Kristen landing a good, hard right hand. Keri slipping along the ropes and spinning free, back to the center. Seems to have the legs back as we go down the stretch. Stewart really pumping the jab now in the final seconds, lands one more solid right at the bell. Good round for K-Stew."

Cassie: "And we're all even after six. 57-57."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Seventh begins with Keri again bobbing and weaving forward, going to work when she gets into range. Stewart firing right back, shortening up her punches, landing solid shot of her own."

Cassie: "Russell very slick. Constant motion. Fighting lead, then allowing K-Stew to go on offense and fighting counter. Stewart wants to impose will, but Keri's not making it easy."

O'Dell: "She most certainly is not. Russell dogged, working hard...AND STEWART NAILS HER WITH ANOTHER RIGHT HAND! Keri wobbled backward and Kristen again going to work, sending Russell into full retreat."

McCarthy: "Kid needs to look to finish now. Pile on and take her out of there."

O'Dell: "Keri backed to the ropes and taking a licking. K-Stew squaring her up like she did in the first round. Russell in some trouble here, running clock, keeping the guard high, jabbing back in spots as the final seconds tick off. There's the bell. Russell survives, but Stewart claims the round."

Tess: "And the 67-66 lead."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Eighth round begins with Keri again on the advance. Stewart willing to give some ground here, circles a bit to create space. Range finding with the accurate left. Russell dogged, working forward, landing some shots. K-Stew returns fire."

McCarthy: "Good, two-way stuff here. Stewart managing this better than she did early. Stepping back for room, looking for a big one like she got the last two rounds."

O'Dell: "Russell keeps pressuring, backs Stewart to the ropes and pounces forward with a big flurry. K-Stew puts the guard up, leans back into the ropes. Russell going all in! She hasn't hurt Stewart but she's firing away at her."

Cassie: "Russell emptying the magazines!"

O'Dell: "She certainly is and...THE REFEREE STOPS IT!"

McCarthy: "She Cammie D'ed her! Russell Cammie D'ed Stewart! She pounced and flurried and brought the ref in for the Cameron Diaz stoppage!"

Tess: "Stewart not happy about this! She's not hurt!"

Cassie: "But some of this is on Kristen. She needed to do more, not just ride this out. You have to SHOW the ref you're not hurt, not just assume he knows it!"

O'Dell: "Kristen protesting, but it's falling on deaf ears! Russell leaping around the ring, jumping into the arms of her corner. A huge upset win for Keri Russell, who just showed the FCBA how slick and skilled she is!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Keri Russell, and, Keri, huge win for you..."

Keri(grinning): "I told you all I could do this! I haven't had a lot of opportunities in the FCBA, but I can fight, and I just proved it. This is supposed to be one of the top flyweight prospects and I just beat her! And she won't be the last! Mark my words, Tess. She won't be the last!"
