BBU WEEKEND CARD FROM CARDIFF

Kara Tointon has been unable to take her place tonight opposite Jacqueline Jossa, following the beating she took from Lea Seydoux, but Elizabeth Tan has stepped in to take her place.

Jacqueline lost her last fight, Sacha Parkinson stopping her in nine rounds, and the beating she took from the sixth round onwards will linger in her memory for a long time, as will the humiliation of kissing Sacha’s feet in the ring afterwards.

But Elizabeth Tan isn’t really in the same class as Sacha, and this time Eastenders actress Jacqueline should chalk up a win against a former Coronation Street babe, who has lost her two BBU fights to date.

Liz enters the ring first for this one, and she looks good in a white basque and plaid microskirt, with white gloves and boots, and she’s soon joined by Jacqueline, who’s wearing a red and white hooped bikini with red gloves and boots.

Round 1

Jacqui’s already giving Liz something to think about, smacking the older girl’s head back with a stiff right jab, Liz already seeming to be standing off, letting the kid hit her. Now they clinch, but Liz hasn’t the power or strength to tie Jacqui up, and she’s getting a bit of a lesson, as Jacqui stays in the centre of the ring, working Liz to the corners, using that sharp right jab of hers to keep the older girl at bay, but never really hurting her, clearly experimenting with this southpaw style tonight, and Liz just hasn’t got the firepower to compete at the moment.

Round 2

It’s more of the same as the round begins, and Jacqui gives Liz jab after jab in what is a very swiftly reddening face, and now she prods and pushes the older girl back and into the ropes – now she unloads! Jacqui rifles punches into Liz’s face as the older actress lays back and takes it, and still she isn’t retaliating, just getting hit, and hit pretty hard! Liz eats a left cross from Jacqui, and her knee gives a little – but she’s a brave girl, and doesn’t go to ground! Indeed, for the first time in the fight, she shows some aggression, and she snaps a neat one-two into Jacqui’s face to get herself out of trouble, following that with some good footwork to stay clear of the younger girl, and ending the round well as she clips Jacqui’s face again with her left hook.

Round 3

Jacqui dominated up to the last minute of round 2, and now Liz seems more confident – she’s absorbed plenty of punishment, and now starts to give some back as she swiftly dances and skips around Jacqui, and now she targets the girl’s midsection, probing for a weakness. Jacqui’s holding and tying Liz in, though, the kid looking the stronger girl, although at this stage of the fight she’s being clipped around by the speedy Liz. The referee parts the girls, and Jacqui lunges at Liz, who steps aside, and pops a couple of neat punches in Jacqui’s face, before left hooking her to the body, and again to the face, the younger girl taking the shots quite easily, but again too slow to react, not connecting with her own punches as she would like – at least, not until the closing seconds, when she rips a right hander into Liz’s belly, the older actress yelping in response.

Round 4

Still Liz is outpacing Jacqui, the older girl criss-crossing the younger one’s face with left and right hand punches, and again this forces Jacqui to hold, and she’s leaning into Liz, making it difficult for her to stop Jacqui pressing her back on the ropes. The referee parts the girls, Liz struggling a little, and Jacqui hits her good and hard with a straight right to the face, and follows that with a left hook to her ribs, both punches hurting her. But when Liz wants to hold to catch her breath, Jacqui pushes her back too easily, and swipes her face, two left hooks and a right cross, gives her a left hook to the flank, and drops her on her butt with a good right hook to the cheek. Jacqui has Liz in trouble, the older girl struggling to her feet at 8, and she’s met with a ferocious right, left, right as Jacqui lays into her, all of those punches crashing into her face, and the round ends with Liz backed into the ropes, Jacqui now ripping into her body to try to bring her guard back down.

Round 5

Jacqui looks like she wants to put Liz away now, and she lands a good right jab in the mouth just for starters in the opening seconds. Liz isn’t offering too much back, but Jacqui’s failing to unpick her defences, because she’s trying to just bludgeon her, and she’s giving Liz too much space to keep herself out of danger, the older girl staying away as she lunges at her again, throws wild hooks at her which either miss or get blocked, and Jacqui’s looking really rather ungainly now, even allowing Liz to land her own crisp one-two which really is disappointing for her supporters. Maybe Liz has a chance to get back into this fight – she left jabs Jacqui’s face again, and darts backwards, comes in again – and gets caught! Jacqui lands a right hook to Liz’s mouth, follows with another, sends a left uppercut into her jaw, and the older girl’s legs are jellied! She clinches, takes a big hit to the belly, and half doubles over, the bell saving her from more punishment, but she looks done for now.

Round 6

Liz’s face is marked around the eyes now, and her nose dribbles a little blood as she takes a straight right, followed by a straight left, her knees again trembling a little as she manages to clinch and hang on to Jacqui. This time the kid waits for the referee to prise Liz off her, which means she’s ready to hit the older actress again immediately her resets the girls, and in rips the right hook to Liz’s body, her arms dropping in reflex. Jacqui sees her chance, and takes it – she smashes another right hook into Liz’s jaw, and she won’t get up from that! Poor Liz is facedown in the centre of the ring, and may be badly hurt this time.

Result: Jacqueline Jossa knocked Elizabeth Tan out in round 6

Jacqueline still looks a little clumsy, and is she wants to progress beyond being a ‘nearly girl’, she will have to work on her strategy. As for Elizabeth? She’s a pretty girl, but there are a few bantams in the BBU who will enjoy chalking up a win against her, and possibly one or two of the taller flyweights too.
