ST, PATRICK'S DAY MASSACRE AT THE ASYLUM

Posted by Boxing World Online on March 17, 2014, 3:23 pm

The Man In The Hat sits, as usual, at the center of the dais. To his left are Allison Mack, Gemma Arterton, Leven Rambin, Britney Spears, Mariska Hargitay, and Jewel. To his right sit Chloe Bennet, Leighton Meester, Brooklyn Decker, Neve Campbell, Avril Lavigne, and Jane Levy.

Man In The Hat: "All right, as usual, before we get to questions, there are some people I want to thank. Lookout! Atlantic. Here's a stable with a ton of talent that needs to get more exposure on this side of the pond. We're glad to have 'em in Philly and hope they'll be back soon. Also, to our Indy fighters, who've always been the backbone of what we do here at Asylum. We appreciate on tonight's card. Independent fighters are a key part of what we do at Asylum. We're very pleased to have girls like Gwyneth Patrow and Alyson Hannigan here. Also, to Av and Jane for putting together another great card, and, as always, last but not least, to the FCBA commission for sanctioning these bouts and making Asylum possible. Now, before I take questions, I'm gonna ANSWER one."

(Laughter)

Man In The Hat: "See, for about four years, this stable was pretty...well...STABLE. We added fighters as we went along, but we'd released exactly one fighter before the last few months. And we'd never made a trade. But, of course, all that's changed. We've made three trades, had Neve retire, resultin' in us completely remakin' the flyweight division and makin' major changes at bantam as well. And, stuff like that gets people thinkin', so, before any of you burn out any brain cells, let me assure you that Chloe Bennet is goin' NOwhere. Not if she loses ten in a row. Not if she loses FIFTEEN in a row and drops to the bottom of the bantam rankings. If she loses TWENTY in a row..."

He stops, turns to Bennet, and continues, "Kid, if you lose twenty in a row, we might have to talk about you goin' back to Front Street TV full time..."

(Laughter)

Chloe(smiling): "Don't worry about it, Wiz. Not gonna happen."

Man In The Hat: "Chloe is at the point in her career where she's not going to be judged solely by results. Yes, we WANT results. We don't book fight to lose. But, what we're really looking for are indications of what we have in a girl and that she can develop. If you know anything about boxin', you saw those in Chloe's performance tonight. A lot of girls don't get out of that first round. Not only did she get out of it, she made a fight out of it. I saw plenty to like tonight. And I saw plenty to like in her last fight, when she gave Claire Holt hell. Not every stable is fated to have a Claire Holt, gang. Most girls lose some early. But, they learn, develop, get better. That's what Chloe's gonna do. Not every stable gets a Claire Holt. But, I'm not worried about that. Because I'd rather have Chloe Bennet. Now, questions. Cable Boy! Go!"

HBO Reporter: "Does the loss, combined with Rambin's win, drop Chloe to the bottom of the bantam pecking order?"

Man In The Hat: "Leven showed me a lot tonight. This is another girl, who, like Chloe, has a ton of physical ability. We think she can be somethin' special. She just needs the rounds, and we'll get 'em for her. As for your question, technically, yes, but, for girls in the development stage, we don't worry over much about that. No point in it. They're all gonna get work and will fight a schedule dictated by where they are in the process and what they need to work on. Doesn't matter who ranks above whom, because they aren't competin' for big fights. Cable Boy II, talk to me!"

Showtime Reporter: "Let's talk about Leighton and her comeback win..."

Man In The Hat: "See, that's the kind of thing I like to see in there, findin' a way to win! This is precisely what we talked about after the pay-per-view, the difference between snatchin' victory from the jaws of defeat and snatchin' defeat from the jaws of victory. Leighton was in against a former FCBA champion tonight and we all knew it wasn't gonna be an easy night. This was a challlenge for her, and she answered it. I'm very pleased. And, before you ask, there will be no comment on the future of the flyweight division tonight. BLONDE! Magazine in the house! Go!"

BLONDE! Magazine Reporter: "Now that Brooklyn has moved on from models to television, will she also be concentrating on subjugating brunettes like she did to Padma tonight..."

Man In The Hat(smiling): "We are, indeed, pointin' Brookie at TV types right now. I don't know if hair color is gonna enter into our calculations, however. That being said, we're very pleased with how Brooke fought tonight. She had to make tactical adjustments and she did. She found a way to win. That's what we're lookin' for. Tess, dear, go ahead..."

Tess: "Speaking of finding a way to win, that was a big win for Gemma tonight..."

Man In The Hat(smiling): "Yes, it was. That's the thing with Gems, you give her a challenge, she responds to it. Paltrow these days is very tough, but we WANTED Gems in tough. She's sittin' on a push right now and we plan to see how far she can go with it. Like Brookie, Gems had to make adjustments tonight, had to find a way, and she did it. And, I ain't surprised, because that's what she DOES. Smackeroo, dinner time..."

Reporter: "Comeback wins seem to be the theme tonight, and Allison fits right in..."

Man In The Hat(smiling broadly and wrapping his arm around the blonde): "You think? See, there's a reason I brought Alli Mack in here. There's a reason she's been a huge part of our bantamweight division for goin' on four years now. And you saw that tonight. Sometimes, we just gotta challenge Alli more, because, when we do, you see what that brings out of her. That was vintage Allison Mack tonight, and vintage Allison Mack is as good as any bantam on the planet. All right. Dinner time. Tess! Smackey! Limo!"
