TESS VALMORE

MEESTER/ HANNIGAN This was a great bout to open the card. Good, close rounds. The bout was even at the end of two. Even again at the end of four. Still even at the end of six. Hannigan then took rounds seven and eight to take a two point lead at the end of eight. Meester managed to win round nine but she still needed round ten just to draw. She did better than just win the round. A minute in she decked Hannigan. Hannigan beat the count, but Meester forced her into the ropes and unloaded. Hannigan had little defense left and the referee stopped the fight with six seconds left. I think the referee should have let the round go to the finish rather than stopping it, but Hannigan would have lost anyway due to the tenth round knockdown

GERMAN/ RAMBIN Two fighters, two different strategies. German wanted to stay at a distance and box. Rambin wanted in close and punch. German executed her fight plan with precision in the first two rounds. Rambin executed her plan in round three and four. Actually, the fight didn’t last through round four. Rambin floored German half way through the round. German managed to get back on her feet before the ten count. Rambin the got German on the ropes and let loose buckling German’s legs a couple of times and the referee seeing enough stopped the fight giving Rambin a TKO4

EVE/ BENNET Going into this fight Eve had three appearances in the FCBA with no wins to show. Now she does. She unloaded on Bennet in the first by decking her and then handing Bennet a real beating that Bennet just managed to survive. Some great corner work got Bennet on her feet for the second and she managed to bog Eve down and get the round. The fight was even at the end of two. It was again even at the end of four. Eve surged ahead by taking round five. In round six it became apparent that Bennet had little left in her gas tank and Eve pounded way until finally the referee stepped in and stopped the fight. Thus far into the card, three fights, three TKOs

LAKSHMI/ DECKER This would be the first fight on the card to go to a decision and it was the bout that I thought was least likely to go the route. This more of a tactical bout. Not a lot of heavy slugging. Decker took the first two rounds but the end of the sixth had evened up the fight and then took the lead by winning the seventh.
Decker came back to take the last three rounds and get the decision

MACK/ PIPER Talk about slugging, this bout had it. The first three rounds were tactical in nature with Piper having the lead. Mack, then, decked Piper in the fourth, Piper came back to put Mack on the floor in the sixth. Piper floored Mack twice in the eighth but failed to finish her. In the ninth Mack dropped Piper. Mack then unloaded going head hunting and after a couple big right hands that had Piper wobbling, the referee stopped the fight giving Mack the TKO

PALTROW/ ARTERTON For the first three rounds Paltrow danced and jabbed he way into a big lead while Arterton stalked. Arterton finally got on the card in the fourth and took the fifth to close Paltrow’s lead to one point, Paltrow widened her lead again by hurting Arterton in the sixth. She then, floored Arterton in the seventh. Paltrow now had a four point lead with three rounds to go. Arterton needed a couple 10-8 rounds to be even going into the final rounds. Turns out she didn’t need a couple 10-8 rounds. In the eighth, Arterton floored Paltrow and then went on a punching rampage. An overhand right, followed by a left hook and another right, left Paltrow helpless and the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.

Six fights on the card. Five ended in TKOs
