Bantamweight Title Fight: Miranda Kerr vs Melissa George

Since claiming the ACB title back in May 2012, Miranda Kerr has also claimed the BBU title and successfully defended it. Her recent relationship with James Packer has ensured she will stay in the limelight for a long time to come, regardless of her modelling and boxing prowess.

Melissa George is an unexpected challenger, with very little form coming into this but due to the ACB's decision to grant a rematch to Zoe, Melissa's ranking made her the next best thing. And after seeing Zoe's performance tonight, perhaps we may enjoy a better showing from George.

Round 1

Miranda charges in but George is ready and times her jabs off the back foot. She switches to the side so Kerr has to circle. Kerr reaching to the ribs with her jab but she's missing and copping that leading jab every time. Kerr is getting frustrated, taking too much glove in the face, cops a left and right hook to the cheeks, then takes a sharp jab on the nose and she stumbles to the ropes. George sensing her big moment, slips in and blasts Miranda's washboard midsection with a combination of jabs and wide hooks but the odd uppercut can't connect the chin and champion stays on shaky foundations on the ropes as the bell ends the first.

Round 2

George the surprising tormentor, controlling everything, space, tempo, timing, rhythm. She's right in front of Kerr, bending at the waist, sliding sideways, guiding Miranda around the ring. Kerr taking a large step back and circles away. She's dancing backwards now and Melissa seems uncertain of what to do. Champion taunting her forward. Slides in, one two, and steps back. And again, Kerr fighting out of character, not the brawling hard puncher of old. George tracking her with pokey jabs but Miranda's change of tact evens up the round at the bell.

Round 3

Kerr charging forward again is in the first round but can't get near Melissa. George reading the advances, ducking under the jab and swinging hooks at her ribs. Kerr's frustration apparent, though she starts to club away at her tormentor and lands a BIG RIGHT HAND to the temple, GEORGE STUNNED! Kerr's speed and power finally on show as she leaps in on her shocked opponent, landing a flurry of jabs on George's torso and the blonde is leaning on the ropes. She's side on to Miranda, covered up, eye's glazed, taking the punches ok but a little unsteady. Miranda with her left jab propping Melissa where she wants her, clubbing the right hand at any openings. Left and right to the belly. George leans in on the champ as they circle clinching. Kerr clubbing shots into Melissa's ribs as the ref comes to split them up but a forearm shove from Kerr does the trick and a BLISTERING RIGHT HOOK catches Melissa on the chin and DOWN GOES GEORGE! Falling in stages from the knees, to the hips and then flat on her face and she's out! KO3 and still the ACB Bantamweight Champion MIRANDA KERR!

Well that seemed all to easy for Miranda and as predicted she takes care of Melissa George in 3. It is hard to take anything away from that if you are in the Downunder corner but a win is a win and a title is a title.

Wildetime yet to make the most of this title onslaught.
