It's not exactly St. Patrick's Day in Belfast but this flyweight contest would have been worthy of all the main events in the Odyssey Arena if only Siobhan Donaghy had more experience under her belt and Nadine Coyle more wins on her record. These two singers fit each other's profile so well that Georgie Thompson hopes a rematch will be arranged sooner rather than later regardless of tonight's result. 

And Georgie has every right to praise the leading Irish flyweights, Nadine's been a fan favorite for years even though she's won just two of her 15 fights to date while Siobhan got her BBU career to a great start stopping Katherine Jenkins back in January. But she's the enemy in Belfast tonight thanks to her Republic ancestry and English place of living. The same can't be said about Coyle who's Londonderry's own and gives Christine Bleakley a run for her money; quite rightuflly so according to Georgie since Nadine was the unheralded star of Girls Aloud, the best singer of the lot and well, the best looking too! There's no surprise that bandmates Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding made the trip to Belfast to support the lovely blonde and Donaghy might be up for some collected assault in post-fight punishment!

Round 1:
Nadine so pumped to perform in Belfast, blasts out of her stool to whip Siobhan's rack and flicks couple of uppercuts thereafter as Donaghy gets an early warning that Coyle might not have that wimpy Jenkins-like attire to bother her anymore and she's all over Siobhan's face in the opening minute, jabbing like a champion elect and it's too much for the redhead who seeks a clinch after getting tagged on the chin one too many times. Nadine gets a help from the ref who shoves the redhead away and holds her for a moment long enough to prevent Siobhan from a proper defence as Coyle slams a right hook on the jaw AND SENDS DONAGHY TUMBLING TO HER BACKSIDE... Whoa! Major upset in the Odyssey Arena as Siobhan's in tatters early and blinks her eyes frantically in complete disbelief as she earns a quick eight count before getting up... Nadine charges at her immediately after the command and sends more leather over the top, nails the older singer on the nose and reels her onto the ropes where she cleans out her stomach in fine style as Donaghy can only seek another clinch and it's obvious she's still hampered by that shocking knockdown! Furious cheers from the Belfast crowd at the bell!

Round 2:
It's not exactly the Red Hand of Ulster but Nadine Coyle's red gloves are doing the early damage again as she spikes Donaghy's nose splitting the guard well and the intensity is all there for the blonde who outworks her foe in close range before sending her onto the ropes with more facial barrage and it's anything but what Siobhan enjoyed against Jenkins and Nadine's sending heavy slaps against the cheeks to leave the first lumps on the ex-Sugababes singer's face. Siobhan tries to answer with single punches from behind the guard and everyone knows that Coyle can be very hittable at times but she just leans on the redhead and keeps her trapped on the ropes, digs her right hand around the elbow and has Donaghy gasping for air and moaning in anger at the bell even though she avoided another knockdown to prevent a complete disaster in front of the hostile crowd.

Round 3:
Nadine still hassles the redhead but the footwork finally evens out and Siobhan manages to duck couple of heavy hooks and slow the pace down to the point, Coyle's forced to settle into a similar approach and drops her arms for a moment... quick leap from Donaghy results in a wake up call for the blonde as she's too slow to raise her arms back and gets whacked on the chin, follow up from the right tags her on the eye as Siobhan throws a sudden flurry of shots on the chest and wobbles Nadine back, the old demons haunt the blonde again and Donaghy doesn't look as shocked as in the opening round anymore and it's her turn tu punish the younger singer's guts as she backs Coyle against the ropes and slaps her around the elbows, makes Nadine yelp in pain and barges her elbow into the tummy, flicks a big uppercut on the jaw and sags the blonde on her knees... Coyle tries to clinch her but eats a couple of jabs on the right eye and is left leaning on the ropes in visible discomfort at the bell.

Round 4:
Siobhan comes out of her stool early and begins to stalk the blonde who's not so keen to attack after that difficult round but the speed across the canvas is all Donaghy's and she peppers Nadine's ribs before slicing her guard with a quick uppercut and the close range assault follows suit with Coyle tripping over her own feet and enabling the redhead to launch couple of heavy uppercuts on the spin... Ugh!! Blonde's head gets snapped and she fails to keep her arms in tact as Siobhan pounds her on the right eye and cuts the Ulster girl up much to the crowd's dismay.... That won't look pretty in the mirror tomorrow but Donaghy's far from being done and pummels a suddenly cumbersome foe on the chest and throws her onto the ropes where she just keeps spiking Coyle on the cleavage before landing one more uppercut on the chin at the bell and the jeering just went up a notch as Nadine walks back to her stool holding her glove against that right eye.

Round 5:
Quick work done on Nadine's eye but Siobhan's all over it to start the fifth and she slices the mitts with confidence as the blonde's below par punch resistance begins to haunt her again... head snapping barrage on the minute mark cuts Nadine's wound again and she's pummelled back to the ropes as Donaghy digs another elbow on her chest to keep her trapped and slams a cross-hooking combo against the mouth to drop the blonde's arms... RIGHT HAND ON THE JAW lifts Coyle off the ground and she's a smoking heap on the canvas moments later as Siobhan nails the haymaker... Odyssey Arena in silence as the blonde's blubbering face-first on the canvas and no matter how long ref delays the count, the redhead just smoked her in unbelieveable fashion... KO5 Siobhan Donaghy!!!

AFTER: What a turnaround from the original Sugababe who just wrecked Nadine Coyle with that huge punch! That's not what the crowd wanted and there's more jeers and whistles for Siobhan than ever before but she teases everyone with a big smile on her face and signals to Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding in the stands they can dump their sexy bandmate into the nearest trash bin!

Meanwhile it's another nightmare for Nadine Coyle, the poor girl just can't catch a break ever since punching Emilie Ullerup's ribs into submission over two years ago. She started tonight's fight so well and caught Siobhan with a huge shot herself but just couldn't follow up in the second where the redhead was still vulnerable. And everyone knows a barrage of punches will eventually send her into trouble sooner rather than later even though Siobhan's KO was still a highlight of the month!

No joy for Girls Aloud lately, first Cheryl Cole loses the Mr. Marcus Invitational to Samia Ghadie and now Nicola and Sarah have to carry a totally dazed Nadine back to the locker room and the Ulster blonde still doesn't know what hit her as she leaves the Odyssey Arena to make way for the Main Event bout. It's Christine Bleakley vs the Wonder Woman next!
