Reebok Bantamweight Title

Before:

Shania Twain makes her entrance to a mixed reception. Many of the Miami Beach crowd cheer for their adopted champion, while a number boo her for her change on demeanor. She is no longer the darling of the Bantam division due to her controversial action or “alleged” action. She is introduced by the ring announcer as the Reebok Bantamweight champion. She is in a red pushup with matching aerobics shorts, red gloves and white gloves, hair back in ponytail.

Bobbie Phillips enters from the other side, She practically bounces down the aisle to the ring, very upbeat and energetic, Her TE entourage follows. Bobbie takes the ring steps two at a time. She wears a fuschia and black bikini top and aerobics shorts, white gloves and shoes, hair down.

The referee calls them to center ring for instructions. Shania’s glare burns holes in her opponent, while Bobbie shifts from one to another nervously. They touch gloves, and Shania gives Bobbie a little shove as they separate. She smirks at the Tank Enterprises Contingent as Bobbie returns to her corner. Syren gives Bobbie a few kast second reminders. AND THERE’S THE BELL.

Round 1:

Both come out quickly to center ring and Shania immediately starts poking the left jab, spanking Bobbie’s head back. Bobbie uses her gloves to pick up many of the jabs, but enough get through to sting a little. Bobbie tries to close the gap, but every time she leans in, there’s the jab right on her forehead or up her nose. Twain circles left, tosses a couple lefts and skips away before Bobbie can answer. In and out, Twain is on her bicycle, and Bobbie does nothing but follow. With less than a minute left in the round, Bobbie lunges for Shania’s head and misses, and Twain plunges into the off balance Phillips and stings her with a left hook, right uppercut combination that stops Bobbie in her tracks., Bobbie raises her guard to cover, and Twain rips off three unanswered shots to her sides and rib cage as the bell rings.

In Bobbie’s corner, Syren tells her to move her head more—she’s too stationary., Mish Williams points out that so far Twain is moving ti her left constantly—try to anticipate her movement that way and cut her off. Dani Fishel tells her to keep her guard up.

Round 2:

Twain comes out and again starts pawing at Bobbie’s forehead. Bobbie starts to move right to follow Twain. But Shania steps right suddenly and cranks a hard right hook into the side of Bobbie’s face. Bobbie is stunned by the punch and momentarily lowers her guard and that’s all Shania needs to see. Throwing a blurring 6 punch combo, she drives a beleaguered Phillips back towards the ropes. Bobbie tries to cover, but Shania smells blood in the water and slices a quick three punch combo off her cheek and chin. A hard left on the button has Bobbie’s nose bleeding and she reaches for Shania to clinch. But there’s no Shania there, she’s already moved left and, planting her right foot, lands a straight right to Bobbie’s mouth, Bobbie finally grabs a hold of Shania’s right arm, but can’t hook the left, and Shania pumps lefts in to Bobbie’s ribs, belly and chest. After 6 or 7 hard shots, Phillips finally gets control of the other arm and ties Shania up. After the break, Bobbie snaps a hook off Shania’s clavicle, finally backing Shania off momentarily. Shania smiles and pokes her chin out at Bobbie, who goes for it and misses, and is countered hard with two shots to the body. Another left to the nose and the flow increases. The bell sounds as Bobbie wipes her top lip with the back of her glove.

Concern in Bobbie’s corner as she is not getting her punches off quick enough, Syren tells her she’s too flat footed.

Round 3:

Shania starts to pester Bobbie’s right eye and lips with constant leather and Bobbie’s guard starts to break down. With Bobbie keeping her right high to protect her eye. Shania goes downtown, ripping left hooks into Bobbie’s side behind her elbow. Bobbie doesn’t like it and backs away. Shania pursues and sticks the left and now the right into her bra and ribs, Bobbie, back against the ropes, starts churning uppercuts at Twain, hoping to slip some through, but Shania’s movement is too good, and she starts to pick off her opponent at will. As Bobbie’s guard drops lower, Shania pastes her head with a left/right/left combo that has Bobbie’s eyes rolling. She pushes out weak palms up punches, but Shania leans back to avoid them and continues to crank Bobbie’s head with the straight right. A left hook slams the eye and Bobbie stutters to her left. Another straight right snaps Bobbie’s head straight back on her neck and she steps forward one step and drops to all fours. Shania smirks and steps back, The ref gives a standing 8 as Bobbie gets to her feet at 3. He waves Shania in, and she obliges with another hard right, left uppercut that rocks Bobbie at the bell.

Serious concern in Bobbie’s corner as she is not responding well to Syren’s questions. Mish and Dani share a concerned look, as CB works quickly to try to stop the blood flow from her nose. Shania watches from her corner with a smile, knowing it’s a matter of time.

Round 4:

Bobbie meanders out and tries to engage Shania in a slugging contest, but she can’t hit the elusive champ. Instead, she throws off balance and Shania drives the right/left combination through Bobbie’s gloves and strikes pay-dirt on the noise and right eye, restarting the flow. Bobbie has slowed considerably, and is holding her guard extremely high, Shania decides it’s time to come inside and bulls Bobbie back into her own corner, leveraging her off balance backing up. Her butt touches the turnbuckle and Shania lets loose. Picking off Bobbie’s face like fish in a barrel, Bobbie’s head is in constant backward motion from the contact. Trying to pick off Twain’s punches on her gloves, Bobbie has forgotten about offense completely and is watching red leather coming in from all angles. Bobbie’s eyes are glassy, then Shania moves to center ring. Bobbie blunders after her, and Shania starts to toy, flicking the left jab practically  anywhere she wants, Eve, nose, lips, ear, cheek are all targeted as Shania keeps chugging. Bobbie’s hands are useless as she tries to ward off the incoming barrage. Shania throws. Waits for Bobbie to commit her hands and then throws again in the opened spot., As the bell rings, Shania leaves a calling card right on Bobbie’s mouth.

This is quickly becoming a joke as CB tries to stop everything at once, Syren tells Bobbie she HAS to get inside and get ti Shania’s body, ir she;s not going to last the round.

Round 5:

Shania snarls as Bobbie comes in behind her left hook downstairs. A couple land, but Shania’s already out of the way of most of them, and as Bobbie turns to reset, Shania pulverizes her wth hard, stinging right hands to the face, Bobbie’s right eyes is merely a slit, and the left is little better, Can’t hit what you can’t see, and Shania further obscures the vision with toying jabs to her eyes. Shania drops her back foot and drives a screaming right into Bobbie’s unprotected cheek and Bobbie shudders at impact, She drops to one knee, but is up quickly and unsteadily. “Stay down for 8,” Dani yells to her, but she’s up at 3 and Shania gain tans her face with jabs. Shania throws at least 6 fir every one of Bobbie’s and every time Bobbie throws a left hook to the body, she pays with interest as Shania welts her face with hooks, Bobbie is spitting blood and mouth breathing, and Shania is merciless, cranking Bobbie’s head back with every short. Another left/right combo torques Bobbie’s head side to side and she lurches forward, landing again on all fours, She stays ‘tll 5 and then climbs unsteadily to her feet. Shania looks over to Bobbie’s corner, smiles and mouths “Watch this,” to the concerned faces. She looks at Bobbie through narrowed eyes, as if she;s searching for the perfect placement.  She feints high, Bobbie’s hands follow to block, and Shania whips three quick hooks to the pit of her stomach, causing Bobbie to stagger and gurgle. As Bobbie leans forward, Shania turns a quick shoulder off her teeth as the bell sounds.

Syren tells Bobbie she’s gojng to stop the fight, but Bobbie pleads for another round. Something about the tone of Bobbie’s voice makes Syren hesitate. She looks to CB, who’s too busy staunching the flow from her nose, mouth and a cut under her right eye. Dani and Mish are shaking their heads no—they’re concerned that she’s going to get hurt badly, Syren looks at Bobbie, saying, “You have to show me something in the first minute or I'm calling it. You understand me?! You’re getting hit too hard and too9 often. One minute or it’s over, got it?” Bobbie nods her understanding.

Round 6:

As if Shania were in the huddle when the play was called, she changes tactics and bulls in on Bobbie, driving her back into her own corner again. She looks down at Syren, Dani and Mish and grins malevolently and says ,“Just a going away present, from me to you,” And she launches into a vicious lefts and rights onto every part of Bobbie’s anatomy, An astounding number of punches land as Bobbie’s guard drops completely and her head snaps left and right. Mouthguard gone, Bobbie is defenseless and her corner screams to the ref to stop it immediately. The ref watches Bobbie for signs of offense, and somehow feels he sees it somewhere. Bobbie’s eyes are closing and she’s out on her feet. Starting to teeter forward, Shania props her up with her left shoulder and pumps rights into her torso. Phillips’ knees buckle and she starts to pitch forward, Twain won’t let her go, and shoving her back in to the corner, cups her left glove behind Bobbie’s head, and pulls her down into a drilling uppercut. Bobbie stands momentarily straight up and then pitches forward onto her face. Shania smiles and turns toward her corner. The referee starts his count, but it’s a formality. Bobbie lies unresponsive, face down on the mat. The count is finished, and so is Bobbie. KO6 for Twain , who retains her Reebok Bantamweight title.

After:

CB, Syren, Dani, and Mish rush into the ring, rolling Bobbie onto her back and trying to revive her. Bobbie’s eyes are rolled back in her head, and her right leg is twitching. As they attend ti their fallen friend, Shania, gloves off, points to Mish and Dani and yells, “You’re next!”

At the post fight press conference, Bobbie’s a no show as she was remove by stretcher as a precaution. Shania is quoted as saying, “I thought it would be a tune up, but it was more like a ‘heavy-bag’ session, She was pathetic: I TOLD you she’d been hanging around TE too much. They’re rubbing off on her…!”
