Carrie on the verge of breaking through, looking to get on a winning streak and finally start climbing the rankings. Jamie doesn’t look discouraged by a lack of traction yet. Every movement during warm-ups still shows a belief in the power of her fists.
Carrie: “It’s partially about building a resume. I want people to see me fight the girls they like. And I want people to see me beating girls they like. When we’re considering which girls to fight, we’re looking for tough, beautiful girls with an experience level that fits our training plan. Jamie Chung was perfect for me. She seems like a nice girl, but that’s the beginning and the end of my interest in her.”
Jamie: “See guys? This kind of arrogance is why she’s going to lose! I’m not some stepping stone for Carrie to use on her way to stardom. I’m a flesh and blood girl with SWIFT feet and hard hands. And I’ve been preparing for this fight because I knew you were trouble when you walked in. I’m going to drop everything now and meet Carrie in the ring. But I’m sure at the end of the fight, Carrie will be lying on the cold hard ground! Hey, wait a minute. Were those lyrics to some of your songs Carrie? No, it couldn’t be you. Those songs are from a POPULAR singer!”
Underwood cringing at the Taylor Swift references. Chung winning the mind games on the podium.

Round 1: The girls feel each other out. Good footwork and feints from both girls as they probe the opponent for weakness. Now it’s Carrie taking initiative, popping out that double jab looking to build off that foundation. Jamie content to catch punches on her gloves and slide off the ropes to safety. Carrie takes the points, but Chung able to read Underwood’s offensive playbook.

Round 2: Now the shoe is on the other foot. It’s Chung coming forward, working off her jab and pushing Carrie back. Underwood, trying to hold firm and stop the advance of Jamie Chung, but it’s undeniable. Jamie’s coming on strong, stinging Carrie’s head and reaching in for power shots when she can. It’s steady, suffocating pressure from Chung, as she takes command here in the second round. A bewildered Carrie looks to counter, but she can’t find the openings, and she’s forced to endure solid work from Chung. Jamie with a little fist pump as she heads back to her corner. She feels like she righted the ship and she’s forced Carrie to respond.

Round 3: Neither girl backing down. Both feeling like they have the answers as they close to the center of the ring, willing to trade. The girls keep their distance as they settle in to pitching and catching combinations. Carrie’s jab is blocked by the high guard. Her straight right finds nothing but air as Jamie ducks underneath it. The final hook to the body draws a hard earned “Oomph!” from Chung, but also spurs Jamie’s own combination. Carrie not quite as slick as she needs to be and Chung is landing with aggression and pace. Chung is definitely stepping up her game here, she’s finding all the holes in Carrie’s armor, slamming home punches to vulnerable targets. She’s really turning her body into those punches, leaving herself open for Underwood’s retaliation. But Carrie can’t quite get it together fast enough to take advantage of the windows. Carrie’s getting in some solid counter punching, but Chung’s aggression and harder punching probably gives her the round.

Round 4: Jamie is the more accurate and heavier puncher. Fists are flying both ways but the work is showing on Carrie Underwood’s face. She’s puffing up and slowing down as Chung imposes her will on the country diva. Carrie swings two big hooks, headhunting to try and gain the upperhand. But Jamie ducks underneath both punches and crunches home her own vicious body assault. Carrie clutches at her violated guts as Jamie looks to press her advantage. Chung’s gloves find all the holes in Carrie’s defence, digging in deep to paunch and rattling Carrie’s skull, knocking her off balance. Underwood now in red alert mode. She’s all defensive as she fades back into the ropes. Chung more than happy to set up shop with her hands moving like pistons, thudding hard punches to tummy. At the bell, Underwood hangs on the ropes. She knows she’s on the wrong end of it. And Jamie stays on top of her after the bell, rubbing it in as the ref separates. Jamie Chung is clearly in the driver’s seat through four rounds.

Round 5: Carrie hesitant to come to the middle of the ring, electing to stay near the ropes. Jamie sees the doubt in her eyes and looks to confirm the suspicion. Chung smart getting off in ones and twos as she lets Underwood skirt the edge of the ring. Jamie showing the fans and the judges that Carrie is afraid to punch with her. Once that’s clear, Jamie looks to cut off the ring, stepping in front of Carrie’s escape route and meeting her with two fisted fury. Carrie caught with a double dose of dynamite to her tummy which stops her in her tracks. Jamie follows up with a big hook and Carrie is CHIN CHECKED as she’s blown to her back!! Eyes shut for a moment as she adjusts to her new, horizontal surroundings. Carrie slow to roll over to her right has she hangs one glove over the ropes. Ref counts five as she pauses on the ropes. She waits on one knee with her head bowed before rising at nine. Her eyes look clear but she’s a little wobbly as the ref lets it continue. Jamie knows she’s got a chance to open up her lead as she comes forward looking to rack up the damage here. Rights and lefts slice through to tits as Carrie finds herself deep in more trouble. Chung all jugs a jumpin’ as she heaves her gloves into Carrie’s chest! Underwood shaking her head, trying to protect her chest, but Jamie gets in Carrie’s bra to give her tits a good scrubbing. Underwood mouth breathing as she’s saved by the bell, viscously roughed up by the rampaging Jamie Chung.

Pep talk in the Diamond Corner. Gwyneth trying to draw the best out of her girl as she grabs Carrie’s bra. “NOBODY gets into this chest without paying a price! Now you go out there and put her to sleep!”

Round 6: Underwood is revved up, banging her gloves together as the girls close for round 6. She’s highly motivated now, her jab showing more bite and she’s putting together more combinations. Carrie knows her legs are her biggest asset, and she darts in and out of range. Landing hard shots on Chung then prancing back out of range. Underwood finally starts chipping away at Jamie’s lead as the country diva keeps piling on punches. Into the third minute now, Carrie lunges forward, looking for chin... but finds nothing but air! Chung ducks under like a champ as she HOOKS THE LIVER HARD!! Carrie stiffens up as her momentum carries her forward to the canvas. Carrie rolling from side to side groaning as she cramps up in body shock. It’s a gutty eight count for Carrie as she gets up all shabby! She’s keeping her elbows in tight to protect her damaged body. Jamie’s content to take what’s being given as she clips the chin. Chung feints to the body, drawing Underwood’s guard down, as Jamie arches over the top, catching Carrie flush on the cheek. Underwood staggers back and stumbles to the canvas and Carrie is down AGAIN!! Chung all smiles as she saunters to the neutral corner. Gut check time for Underwood as she’s woozy but barely able to beat the count. She’s saved by the bell as she stumbles back to her corner. HD cameras manage to catch a frustrated tear roll down Carrie’s cheek.

Round 7: Cameras try to get into Underwood’s corner but a furious Paltrow shoves them away as she tries to shout some sense into her girl. Carrie trying to focus, nodding solemnly as the bell rings. But no amount of pep talking is going to put a girl back together in just one minute. Jamie smirks as she sees a bit of wobble still in Carrie’s legs. Underwood knows she needs something big this round to get back on track. Carrie now with a big right AND SHE’S BEATEN TO THE PUNCH BY CHUNG!! A beautiful counter left, timed perfectly and explodes on Carrie’s chin. Underwood’s legs stiffen as she twists down to the canvas, resting on her tummy. ANOTHER knockdown by Jamie Chung and this crowd is loving it. Carrie struggles to rise again, flexing her rapidly exhausting muscles to just beat the count again. Her eyes are clenched tight as the ref checks her over. Jamie shouts from across the ring, “As long as she wants to get up, I’ll keep knocking her down!” Carrie with her shoulders slumped takes a big deep breath as Chung closes in again. Jamie’s trying to pierce that tight guard, but Carrie is protecting her chin at all costs. She does not want to go down again. Jamie content to invest in that thudding body work. She’s giving Carrie a solid spanking through seven.

Round 8: Chung still moving well, but she’s not stepping as clean as before. Where there used to be four punch combinations, now there are only one or two. Carrie senses that her girl is FINALLY slowing down, and she looks to slug her way back into it. She knows her chance at a decision left the building a long time ago. She needs Jamie Chung flat on her back. And she’s going for it, swinging wildly at the Asian beauty, hoping one of her punches can turn off the lights. Jamie manages to work her way out of trouble, but she’s definitely on the back foot. Chung’s corner reminding her to be smart. She’s way ahead, and only needs to stay upright to secure the decision and she knows it.

Round 9: This is the Carrie Underwood we expected to see. She’s got some spring back in her legs and she’s snapping out that jab, using it to put together the heavier stuff. She’s putting everything into her power punches, desperately trying to hurt the girl who has tormented her all night. Jamie rolls and catches beautifully, staying away from the worst damage while conserving energy for a counter assault. It happens as Carrie is throwing two wide haymakers. Jamie lunges inside, digging two hooks into the toned, but tiring body of Underwood. Carrie is locked up by those two bombs, and Chung keeps coming up the middle to land a SLEDGEHAMMER to Carrie’s chin!! She’s blasted to her butt, starfished in the middle of the ring, as Jamie Chung struts away feeling superior. Carrie slow to roll over, her body wants her to stay down but her pride just won’t have it. Chung watches with a smirk as her opponent gingerly climbs the ropes at nine. Jamie knows she can put this girl down whenever she wants. It’s Underwood coming forward after the knockdown, desperately searching for a miracle, and Jamie’s willing to let her look, backing up smartly to stay away from danger.

Round 10: Chung knows the score. She can concede the battle to win the war. Carrie doesn’t seem to realize that the die has already been cast. She’s throwing off-target haymakers, praying for miracle lightning bolt from her gloves. But Jamie is too strong, too fresh, too smart to get caught with anything. The bell bring an immediate cheer from Jamie Chung and the crowd reciprocates. What a performance from her tonight, dominating a game young fighter like Carrie Underwood. No need to wait for the announcement. Everyone in the building knows it’s Jamie Chung by a wide UD10.

After: Jamie comes over to look at the wreckage she caused in the Diamond corner. Carrie fighting back tears as her gloves are removed. Officials watching closely, worried there might be a walk, or worse. Instead, it’s a quick hug for Carrie and a quick word in her ear. “You know I just dominated you in the ring. You know it deep in your bones. And a walk of shame can’t be more humiliating than what I just did to you in the ring.” Carrie shaking, fighting back tears, cut deep by this fight. Jamie tours the corners, looking to celebrate with the fans. She’s posing double biceps, and taking every photo op she can. Chung puts it all together in her best performance yet. It’s definitely her ring tonight and she’s all smiles as she’s interviewed at center ring.
Chung: “I just felt great tonight! When I got ahead early, I think Carrie was trying to get it back with one punch. She was presenting these openings and I was just trying to hit them. I think I’ve always had a fight like this in me and Mirage has just been waiting for me to put it all together. Well, you saw how good I can be tonight. It was a good fight for me from start to finish, and I think there will be more fights just like this one!”
Carrie struggling to keep it together in the interview. She didn’t fight badly tonight, but just ran into a girl doing everything right. “I don’t want to take anything away from Jamie Chung. She beat me up tonight. But I know that I can fight better than I did. It felt like I was landing better punches, and then she would hit me with one perfect punch and undo all my work. It’s… I don’t know...I just can’t let that happen again.”
