Aly Michalka (Bazz Fight Club) v Holly Valance (The Metermaids)
(Words: Knowlesey / Results: Lookout! )

Aly (25) won the bantamweight belt from Grace Park in June 2013, then lost it in her first defence to Olivia Munn, and she would like it back!  However, Emily Blunt gave her an awful 5 round beating in March this year, and she attempts to recover against Holly!  Australian Holly is 31 now, has had so many ups and downs in her career that it has become difficult to keep track, but 2014 has been unkind to her, and she has yet to win this year.

Holly’s wearing a yellow bikini with matching gloves and boots tonight, with Aly in a back and white hooped bikini, white gloves and black boots.  Both girls have their hair dyed blonde.

Round 1

The girls are showing each other respect in the opening exchanges, Aly less feisty tonight than normal, which is giving Holly encouragement, the Australian getting into some good rhythm and setting Aly some problems, but Aly’s still confident, takes a jab, hook combination from Holly, and gets right back at her, connecting with two straight punches, a left, then a right, Holly blinking hard after taking those, and she gets roughed up a little when she steps up close, Aly finding the space to land a solid left to her ribs, Holly getting out of trouble, sending out a jab to Aly’s face, taking a couple of neat punches in response, but still very much close to par with the young American as the opening round ends.

Round 2

The girls are both searching for openings here, with Aly beginning to speed things up, getting her right cross sneaking through Holly’s defences, starting to look the more dominant girl and she has the talent to do a number on Holly if the older girl isn’t up to speed.  But Holly’s trained hard – she needs a result from this fight, and her aggression seems to surprise Aly as she fires a brace of punches into Aly’s body, takes a crisp jab to her mouth in response, but puts a good combination together, landing three punches in Aly’s face, Aly having to step back, take a right hook to the jaw on her way, again fights back with a jab to Holly’s mouth, and another to her eye, but Holly’s looking good right through to the bell, giving Aly more trouble to the body, trying to take the speed out of the younger girl’s legs.

Round 3

Aly’s not looking too pleased as she starts this round, with Holly really standing up to her, and she takes a couple of good shots from the Australian, backs off, and gets tagged with a left hook.  Holly shows her ambition here as she takes the fight to Aly, but she starts to get a little ragged, Aly hurting her with a couple of body punches, Holly failing to clinch when the opportunity arises, which allows Aly to land freely to her face with a series of short, snappy punches, Holly looking second best again as the younger girl starts to fire more quickly, the American’s gloves rapping on Holly’s face, forcing the older girl to backpedal, and she gives her a hard right hook to the midsection at the end of the round, just to show her who’s the boss.

Round 4

Aly knows now that she can hurt Holly, and she’s beginning to gradually break the older girl down, snapping her punches into the Australian’s face, and Holly’s not really showing the ringcraft to get out of the way, Aly almost casual now as she whips in a right hook over the top to follow a pair of punishing jabs, then she hits her to the body again as Holly raises her gloves protectively, and she stumbles slightly, as a grinning Aly thuds another right hook into her ribs, but this time Holly manages to clinch.  There’s no real animosity between these girls, but Aly wants to win the fight, and she’s becoming more dominant now, stunning Holly with a brace of hooks to the face, switching to her body again, Holly’s face looking a little scrubbed up by the younger blonde’s punches, and she’s been outpunched and outclassed in this round.

Round 5

Holly looks pretty tired already, but Aly’s still fresh, and she’s dancing around Holly here, the older girl looking a bit irritated by her arrogance, Aly’s jab jerking her head backwards again as it connects firmly with her mouth, the inevitable hook coming straight afterwards, into her ribs again this time, Holly stepping back, face creased in anguish.  Aly goes to whip in a left hook thrown from the hip, but Holly sways clear of that, and gives the younger girl a couple of her own punches, and she catches Aly with a clean right cross thrown from short range, which has the American moving backwards for once, and she has to cover with Holly looking for more action, getting a sharp left hook through Aly’s guard, and, with Aly now needing to clinch, Holly shows some guile, roughs the girl up on the inside, hitting her to the midsection with short punches, causing her discomfort at last.

Round 6

How is Aly going to respond to the setback of conceding the 5th round to Holly?  Well, she’s not a happy girl, the smile no longer in place on her pretty face as she hits Holly to either cheek in the opening seconds with a punch from either hand, and she follows that with a blistering attack on the Australian’s body, really letting her punches go, with Holly looking too slow to resist, the punishment she’s taking now really knocking the fight out of her.  Backwards goes Holly, right to the ropes, and Aly hits her to the face with three straight punches in a row, Holly’s head juddering backwards from each of those blows, the girl failing to clinch because Aly’s just so mobile, teasing Holly off the ropes with a right hook to the jaw, then putting her back there again with two lefts to the ribs, this round going so badly for Holly who looks like she doesn’t want much more, her cheeks all grazed up, a little blood dribbling from her nose, the
bell not coming a second too soon from her position.

Round 7

She looks beaten and exhausted, but Holly’s a brave soul, and she’s back in the ring, trades jabs with Aly, and doesn’t come out of the exchange looking too inferior, so opts to trade again, but this time Aly’s ready, and she hits Holly hard in the midriff, twice in the ribs, then right hooks her to the jaw, Holly staggering backwards, and Aly gets her with another right hook to the jaw, unleashes a big left haymaker, and that’s flattened Holly, who hits the canvas hard, looks like she might beat the count, but she can’t do any more than roll from her back to her side as the referee counts her out.

Result: Aly Michalka knocked out Holly Valance in round 7.

If there was any doubt before that Aly Michalka wants the bantamweight title back, there isn’t any now!  She’s just demolished a game Holly Valance, who looks like a girl disappearing down the rankings, and perhaps her situation has been clouded by the changes which have occurred recently in the Australian-run stables.
