Big Gemma is keen to show her bosses that she really can fight, and wants to build on her recent victory over Aisha Tyler, so now takes on the younger, taller girl from South Africa, Candice, whom she beat very easily back in 2010, and a girl who was totally humiliated in her last fight by Adriana Lima, who stopped her in just 3 rounds, then saddled her up and rode her.

Candice looks superb in her white bikini with matching gloves and boots, with the more voluptuous Gemma in a black leather bikini, with red gloves and boots.

Round 1

Both girls are a little low in confidence, Gemma knowing that her victory over 43 year old Aisha has not won much respect, and she’s on the receiving end of the punches as the girls start to swap jabs, Candice finding Gemma’s mouth a nice target at first, but Gemma fights back, the Brit landing a nice right hook on Candice, making the taller girl hold and clinch. From the break, Gemma seems to be the girl trying to land punches, but the more orthodox Candice outboxes her in the final section of an even round.

Round 2

It’s Candice again who starts with the better work, her jab still finding Gemma’s face so easily, but Gemma takes the punches well enough, and has plenty in reserve for Candice, batting the taller girl with a neat one-two to her face, and following that with a fairly solid dig to her body, Candice being forced to go defensive from that point, backing off, covering up, with Gemma getting more and more anxious to hit the model again, but instead of seizing the advantage, her clumsiness is allowing Candice back into the fight, the taller girl giving Gemma a couple of swift punches before the bell to even up another close round of contrasting styles.

Round 3

Gemma hits Candice with a good right hook in the opening seconds, but instead of retreating and taking more, the taller girl fights back, and she whips a good right hook over the top of Gemma’s guard and onto her left eye, sending her back and away, following this up by peppering Gemma’s face with a series of hooks, the Brit not able to stop these punches from landing, her face beginning to turn pink as the fight starts to tip Candice’s way, the model exposing Gemma’s shortcomings as she works her towards the ropes – but Gemma’s not having this, and she clubs Candice to her body with a left and a right, getting back at the taller girl a little, but that’s Candice’s round.

Round 4

Candice is boxing nicely, and she’s again working Gemma about a little, the Brit unable to control the centre of the ring, and she eats a pair of jabs from the model before gradually coming to life in this round, again finding a little success when she hits Candice to the body, the model perhaps not quite as toned as some of the better girls in this fed, and Gemma seems to have hurt her with a right hook to her midsection, and she follows up on her success there to thud a swift left cross to Candice’s jaw, following that with another, and now works the younger girl towards her own corner with a series of bodyshots, Candice looking a little weaker in this round, shaded by Gemma.

Round 5

It’s Gemma landing and controlling matters now as she cuffs Candice to the jaw with a sharp left hook, but she soon loses momentum again, and the model gets back at her, landing a pair of jabs to her face, and slotting a good right into her belly, Gemma groaning as she takes that punch, but fighting back after clinching to regain her breath, giving Candice a good one-two, poking the taller girl backwards, but she can’t land a solid enough punch to disturb her, with Candice slipping clear of trouble once again, her jab still bouncing off Gemma’s face, the Brit beginning to bruise around her right cheek, still taking the round, but ending it poorly.

Round 6

The girls are a little more defensive now, Gemma missing badly with an attempted right hook to Candice’s head, the model swaying away, then coming back at the Brit, her accurate jabs again smacking the older girl’s head backwards, and Gemma’s finding this tough now, with Candice stepping up the pace, finding Gemma again with a left hook, making her stumble and retreat, covering up and backed into the ropes, as Candice looks for the opening to hit her some more, the Brit clinching to free herself, and at last get some respite, and she follows that with a solid right to Candice’s body, now a left to her jaw, and it’s Candice now who needs to clinch, but Gemma smacks her aside, goes for her body again, only to take a three jab combination in the closing seconds to leave her spitting blood as her bottom lip slices open.

Round 7

Gemma seems to want to turn this into a punch out now, and she’s standing in front of Candice, looking like she wants to knock the younger girl out – but her punches are just too obvious, and Candice sways clear, blocks another, and now she’s jabbing Gemma silly again, bouncing her right and left gloves off the Brit’s face in turn, using her height and reach well, making Gemma look stupid as she misses again with an attempted right hook, earning her a great left jab, right cross in return, the big-breasted girl starting to flag now as Candice gets in nice and close, only for Gemma to hurt her with a left hook to the midsection which takes the stuffing out of her, Gemma turning things around, whupping a pair of hard shots into Candice’s ribs, and now the tall model starts to bend a little, grateful to hear the bell despite just about sneaking that round.

Round 8

This fight really is sapping the strength of these girls, but Candice keeps going at Gemma, rat-a-tatting punches on her face again, Gemma retaliating by landing a booming right hook in Candice’s body, the model gasping and moaning as Gemma starts to work on her some more, gives her another right hook to the ribs, follows it with a left, and nails Candice with her right, landing it beautifully on the girl’s jaw, putting her down hard. Candice is on her feet at 7, but she doesn’t look good now, and Gemma hits her again with the right, doesn’t time it though, allowing Candice to hold, but the South African girl can’t keep Gemma at bay, the Brit seeming to gain confidence the more Candice weakens, her gloves thudding into Candice’s ribs and midriff as she concentrates on taking even more out of the lovely model.

Round 9

Candice wants to box, but she hasn’t got any momentum now, and Gemma’s just in her face, wearing her down with another pair of good punches to the ribs, Candice just about clinching to hold in there, but Gemma easily pushes the younger girl back, and this time she hooks her to the face, Candice staggering into the ropes from a sweet left on her cheek, her knees sagging a little, but she defends herself once more as Gemma moves in, even scores with a right jab of her own to the Brit’s swollen mouth, but it’s Gemma in the box seat again, her swinging right hook again smacking into Candice’s face, the skin around the girl’s left eye all grazed and swollen now, Gemma again switching her attack to the model’s body, hurting her with two more left hooks to her midsection, giving her another good right hand to the face just on the bell, Candice’s eye beginning to close after taking some horrid punches in this round.

Round 10

Gemma wants to finish this, but Candice is bravely withstanding her attempts, gets hurt with another right to that battered cheek, but smacks Gemma hard with three lovely jabs to the face, Gemma needing to hold, Candice clipping Gemma’s mouth again, but she’s not quick enough to get clear of Gemma’s swinging left hook which crashes into her jaw a split second later, or the right hook which follows it, and that’s finished Candice off very nicely, the girl stirring as the count reaches 8, but it’s all over for her;

Result: Gemma Atkinson knocked out Candice Swanepoel in round 10.

Gemma won again tonight – but has she impressed enough to get a better quality opponent next time? She struggled for some time against Candice, who really should have been there for the taking at a much earlier stage.
