ROSE BYRNE (FOXFIRE ATLANTIC BOXING) VS SASHA PIERTERSE (PRETTY LITTLE PUNCHERS)

Before: Australian Rose Byrne pleased to be brought over to the States to take on young Sasha Pieterse. Rose happily tells press: “This will be only my second FCBA fight. I lost my debut to Leven Rambin in 2012 and I know I can do better than that. When I was given this opportunity I jumped at it. I don’t know much about this girl, but I expect I’ll figure her out soon enough.”

Sasha Pieterse seems to be both excited (“I’m fighting an actual move star!”) and scornful (“She’s kinda old—I mean like 36—I don’t really like beating up old people, but if that’s what it takes—OK I’ll do it.”)

Rose doesn’t seem to appreciate that “old people” remark. Has a word with Sasha about it after their press conference. Hard to hear the words, but Sasha apparently says the wrong thing and Rose gives her a slap across the face! Next thing anyone knows, Sasha tries to jump Rose, but gets hip tossed into the refreshment table where she is soaked with punch and splattered with pastries. Sasha looking up in astonishment at Rose as soggy pastries drip from her hair make for sensational viral video clips.

“That girl will respect her elders if I have to get a headlock on her to make her,” Rose says.

“She started it!” Sasha complains. “She hit me! I don’t know why everyone thinks it was my fault! Everyone is laughing at me now! She is gonna pay for that!”

Fight night finds Rose Byrne in dark brown dance leotard thin white belt around the waist, sheer black pantyhose (reportedly experimental fabric designed for fighting sports supposedly rip and run-proof). Dark brown gloves. Hair in a battle braid. Sasha in hot pink bikini, mathing boots and gloves. Hair tied with a pink ribbon. Tense fight instructions but referee keeps order as two fighters exchange icy stares.

R1: Sasha uses her youthful speed to carry the fight right to Rose, trying to overwhelm the brunette with a furious punching barrage. Rose shows some duck-and-evasion skills, but Sasha gets to her jaw with a strong left and Rose shows some confusion as Sasha builds on the blow with solid strikes to the ribs and tummy. Rose trying to reorganize, gets clipped by right on the jaw and she in trouble again. Sasha pumping leather in just above Rose’s little white belt and making Rose gasp for air. Rose backing away with Sasha in pursuit. Young blonde gets little wild with her swinging making for easily avoided punches and Rose is finally able to get a jab going to stop Sasha with some punches to her cheeks and a nice one to the belly that makes Sasha back up with a groan. Rose unable to build on that belly shot as Sasha’s jab is not bad either and rounds ends in a Sasha Pierterse points win.

R2: Rose ready for Sasha this time as the blonde comes charging in. She smashes a right cross off the side of Sasha’s head and brings her left crashing into the other side. Sasha shuddering to a halt with glassy eyes and Rose goes to the chin next with a couple of uppercuts. Sasha slumps on Rose, throwing her arms around the older woman to clinch and ref separates them. Sasha able to use the brief respite to retreat and get her jab going to duel Rose as she comes in. Exchange of punches first goes Rose’s way, but Sasha seems to recover and hit back with enough power to make Rose back off. Now the two circle each other and lob punches looking for an opening. Rose able to clip Sasha’s chin twice and then work her body, Sasha trying to stay active, is finding her way to strike at Rose’s sides with a steady build-up of punishment. However Rose plants one in the blonde’s belly to make her freeze and get at the chin. Sssha groggy, but still standing as the round ends, a close Rose Byrne win.

R3: Rose liked what those belly shots did to Sasha and goes for more of them in this round. Sasha not liking these punches one bit and tries to keep away from more Byrne leather eating her gut. This also reduces Sasha’s ability to land punches on Rose and Rose dominates the round, winning her second round.

R4: Sasha challenges Rose’s offensive this round and launches one of her own. Rose trying to keep her punching cool and controlled, but Sasha’s getting wild with her punching and at least one goes UNDER Rose’s white belt drawing a stern finger-wagging reprimand from referee. (Sasha heard to wail: “It was an accident! She moved and the punch went to the wrong place! Besides I didn’t hit her THAT hard, she’s faking!”) Rose recovers but she is seething and goes charging at Sasha. Sasha meets the attack with a steady jab and then clouts Rose on the jaw when her reckless attack leaves it open, Rose reeling away. Sasha wastes time admiring her handiwork before going after Rose. Rose fighting hard with her jab and counters, but Sasha’s getting clever feinting at the head to pound ribs, but then feinting ribs to get in shots to Rose’a jaw. Sasha steady on the attack to the end and takes the round.

R5: Rose pulls herself together during break and challenges Sasha at midring. They mainly work each other’s bodies this round, with a few licking head and jaw punches thrown in. Just hard, grinding boxing with the two absorbing lots of punches. As the round goes on, Rose tries to shift her attention Sasha/s head, but the blonde is minimizing the effect with body movement and blocked punches, Sasha slipping her uppercut under Rose’s gloves to push up her chin. Rose starts slowing down and defense not as crisp, but bell sounds before Sasha can land a more effective punch. However it’s Sasha who wins the close round.

R6: Sasha maintains a steady pressure on Rose this round. She seems to have her youthful recklessness under control and gives Rose fewer opportunities to counter. Sasha methodical in her punching, working the body, then the body when she gets the chance and then back to the body, Rose fights back against this, but the level of her effectiveness is declining. Sasha pressing in close getting into Rose’s face with a snarl as she punches sink into Rose’s slender frame. Rose forced to pull back out of range. Sasha pursues and closes in to pound waistline. Rose is really feeling those body punches now and each new wave makes her face twist with pain. Rose’s legs shaky after the bell. (Certain interested observers note that the black stockings while moist with sweat, are holding up well, no rips, tears or sagging seen). Wide win for Sasha.

R7: Rose goes after Sasha, knocking the young blonde back with quick combination right/lefts to the chin and digging hooks into Sasha’s tummy. Sasha uses her jab to bring the attack to a stop with hard shots to Rose’s sternum and some strong hooks to the midsection. Rose trying to regroup for another move in, but Sasha strikes first, feinting to Rose’s mauled middle, but driving the uppercut into Rose’s chin. Rose’s legs get tangled and she crashes to the canvas, Rose lands near ropes, uses them to climb back up and beat the count. Referee thinks she’s ready to go on and waves Sasha back in. Sasha marches in and just takes Rose Byrne apart. Rose driven up against the ropes and gets shelled from head to waistline over and over in a growing frenzy of punching. Rose unable to fight back, hung up the ropes, is in a dreadful trap. AND THE REF (FINALLY) JUMPS IN. Official thrusts himself between Sasha and Rose, who sinks to her knees as the ref tries to hold her up. Sasha backing up with a big smile as she realizes it is all over.
The winner: TKO7.

After: “I swear that low blow was an accident,” Sasha swears to the press. “Besides, she was just unable to stand up to young fighter with plenty of energy and punching power. Maybe she did get to me once or twice, but that was my carelessness. I am still learning you know and I will make mistakes. The secret is not repeating them. Now I am ready to establish myself as a contender probably at bantam.”

Rose Bryne defiant in defeat: “She is mean, nasty little snot. I am sorry I couldn’t beat her, but I’m not giving up. I may not have many years left in boxing, but I intend to spend them winning not losing—especially not losing to the likes of Sasha Pieterse!”

Sasha back in the win column with this fight. Rose Byrne still looking for her first Stateside win. Sasha seemed the better this time out and while Rose had her moments, she again couldn’t seem to handle a younger fighter.

As for Ms. Byrne’s experimental pantyhose she does report they were survived the fight in excellent condition. Rose herself said: “They were cooler than I expected, but I am not sure I don’t prefer to keep my legs bare.” We’ll see if there are anymore tests on this product in the future.
