LUCY HALE VS JENNIFER LOWNDES
(Pretty Little Punchers vs Lioness Club of America)
Flyweight Title Tournament Rd. 1
(Words: Archer / Results: Lookout!)

Before: “I was so thrilled to get a chance to compete in this tournament,” Lucy Hale happily told the press. “I worked hard to get this far. It’s no secret that I lost my first 9 fights in this fed, but  slowly I learned. Now I’ve won 6 in a row and here I am facing Jessica Lowndes. I know all about her and she’s going to be a major challenge, but she can be beaten. I know that to win, I just have to find a way to do it.”

Jessica manages to showily stifle a yawn during Lucy’s presentation and when she takes the podium she informs the crowd (and Lucy, too): “Lucy, meet your Reality Check. You are nowhere near as good as you think you are. But I still glad you’re here and that I’m the one fighting you. Lucy, you need to realize how far you have to come to be an elite fighter. I’m just the girl to teach you. You won’t enjoy the lesson, but I assure you. It will be educational.”

Lucy’s cheeks burn red, but she keeps her temper: “You need to be taught a lesson, too: don’t be such a blowhard!”

Jessica sniffs and smirks: “See you in the ring.”

“Yes, you will!” Lucy promises.

Fight night finds the 5’2 Lucy Hale in a striking bright red bikini with matching gloves and black boots. Lucy has her hair in twin pigtails with red bows. Across from her is 5’4 Jessica Lowndes in gold bikini with matching gloves and boots. Jessica does her best use those two inches to try to physically intimidate Lucy, but the PLP fighter looks her right in the eyes and doesn’t blink. The referee breaks it up to get the fight rolling.

R1: Lucy Hale out of her corner fast and plows into a startled Jessica Lowndes churning her gloved fists into Jessica midsection like it was a heavy bag. Jessica gasping for air, tries to organize her defenses, but Lucy’s punches now finding Jessica’s prize rack. Jessica having even more trouble getting air as Lucy keeps her lungs under attack. Jessica finally forced to fall back in disorder. Lucy right after her, now gets some nice left/rights into Jessica’s chin and finished with uppercuts. Jessica desperately trying to get distance finally gets a straight right into the in-coming Lucy’s mouth and brings the PLP fighter to a halt. Lucy bleeding a bit around the lips, but shakes it off and goes after Jessica once again, but Lowndes now has her jab ready and fires straight into Lucy’s face. Lucy ducks down behind her high guard and hooks into Jessica’s belly and ribs, but Jessica’s defense keeps things under control to the bell. However the round clearly belong in Lucy Hale’s column.

R2: Jessica not going to be surprised again, is out of her corner quickly at the opening of this round and engages Lucy at midring. Two engage in a swirling battle as they circle around each other, but at short range, just punching those punches into one another. Jessica concentrates on Lucy’s midsection with a few distracting punches into Lucy’s breasts. Lucy is less concentrated in her attack, she works the ribs, the midsections, the breasts, but she keeps trying to get at Jessica’s chin. Once Jessica realizes this, she can make some head fakes to draw Lucy’s attention then ram leather into Lucy’s gut and Lucy is beginning to shudder with the impacts late in the round, though she keeps to her feet and lasts to the bell. Round goes to Jessica Lowndes.

R3: Jessica right back with that body attack in this round and Lucy is being forced to cover up to protect her aching belly. Jessica now works the ribs, getting shots in under Lucy’s elbows and making her feel the impacts. Lucy now falling back and allowing Jessica to seize the initiative. Jessica waits until the third minute before suddenly raising her attack and banging Lucy’s head with some quick left and right sweepers. Lucy’s twin pigtails a-flying as her head swivels one way and then the other. Lucy trying to keep back and use her jab to protect herself, but her cheeks are puffing up and those lips are bleeding again. Jessica looks pleased with herself as a bruised and battered Lucy Hale makes her way back to her corner.

R4: Jessica comes cruising out confidently, but Lucy Hale has pulled herself together and comes boring in. She’s hunched down, trying to take Jessica’s counters on her head and shoulders, while denying the LCA fighter access to her bruised body. This close in action rages for the opening minute with neither fighter backing off.  Jessica is trying to lean down on Lucy to pound at her head, but then Lucy hammers hooks into Jessica’s gut and send her back doubled over. Lucy then exploded out of her crouch and CRACKS a beauty of an upper cut under Jessica’s chin. Jessica thrown to her back landing hard, legs shooting up into the air and breasts quivering in their cups. Crowd is on its collective feet screaming with delight. Lucy watches from neutral corner as Jessica makes a great effort and rises to her feet ahead of the 10-count. Fight resumes but shakes Jessica is strictly safety-first to the bell, keeping Lucy away with the jab and her backpedaling feet. Crowd cheers Lucy’s comeback as she smiles to the crowd. Jessica scowling as she returns to her corner.

R5: Jessica challenges Lucy right from the bell charging Lucy before the PLL fighter can Lucy can get her own charge going. Lucy doesn’t seem too surprised and eagerly takes on Jessica in another swirling, circling battle of body attrition in close. (Though both are doing a lot more head punching in this series of exchanges, but it’s still the bodies that seem to get most of the punching attention. Jessica working Lucy’s ribs a lot and the reddening areas show she’s doing damage. Lucy try to weaken Jessica’s body and she’s splotched Jessica’s body with overlapping bruises. Then Lucy manages to duck under Jessica right aimed at her head and sneaks a right of her own up into Jessica’s chin. Jessica’s head snapped back, but she manages to spin to one side, eluding Lucy’s follow-up punches and stay on her feet. It’s close but Lucy given the round by the judges.

R6: It’s now Lucy challenging Jessica, but Jessica’s a little more cautious at the start of this round. She’s still circling, but she’s not in close and Lucy starts looking frustrated. Lucy’s landing more punches, but she evidently isn’t satisfied with the damage she’s doing and tries to get in closer. Jessica not cooperating. So Lucy tries to cut off the ring and force Jessica into more close in-action. Jessica proves evasive and Lucy starts chasing her, but this backfires when Jessica suddenly stops running and goes on a furious attack. Lucy’s let her defense get sloppy in the pursuit and gets walloped hard to the cheekbones and jaw. Lucy ducks down and comes after Jessica’s waist just above the waistband of her bottoms. Wet smacking punches and grunts from Jessica, but Jessica pounding her counters off Lucy’s head. Lucy pulls back looking stunned, but she’s able to get her jab going sufficiently to keep Jessica from heaping on more damage. Still, round goes to Jessica, though it's close.

R7: Lucy tries to be aggressive as the round gets started. Jessica dueling with her at midring, but she’s doing a lot of body motion, feints and quick moves. Lucy seems slow to follow. Jessica able to ring Lucy’s jaw up with a lightning right and Lucy’s legs start to tremble. Jessica ups the pressure as the clock heads into the second minute, first working Lucy’s ribs and stomach, but then putting a powerful left into the heart of Lucy’s belly to tip her forward and then a crashing right to the jaw. Pigtails whip around and Lucy corkscrews around landing on her face in a heap. Crowd holds its breath as Lucy pushes up on her arms, but then she just falls over on her side, arms outflung, clearly unable to get up as the count reaches: ‘…TEN!”

Winner: Jessica Lowndes KO7

After: Jubilant Jessica Lowndes watches as Lucy Hale is half-carried, half-dragged back to her stool where smelling salts are applied. Lucy awakens and bursts into tears when she realizes she’s just been eliminated from the flyweight tournament. Big smiles Jessica. She seems to be considering going over for some post fight fun, but Lucy’s Pretty Little Punchers teammates form a wall around her.  Jessica just laughs and remains in her own corner.

“Yeah, she gave me a few bad minutes, like in the 4th, but I knew she couldn’t take it once we got to the last half of the fight. I’m more interested in getting on to the title fight than smothering out a loser like Lucy. I figure I’ll get her some other night. Tonight I’m just going to celebrate going on to the second round.”
Lucy Hale not up to seeing the press until later that night, but she does appear, her face still showing the swelling and bruises. “Jessica was the better fighter tonight, that’s a fact, but its also a fact I stayed with her a lot of the way. I think I proved I am really am a contender and intend to stay a contender no matter who wins this thing.”

Hard punching fight from both boxers made this a good, close fight, but Jessica showed she had the better ring tactics to win with the knockout. So Lucy Hale will watch the next round and Jessica Lowndes will be in the thick of it.
