Willa Holland versus Emily Bett Rickards
(Pretty Little Punchers vs Unmanaged Fighter)
Results: Lookout / Writing: Archer

Before: “We have been hearing it from ARROW fans that they want to see me and Emily fight,” explains Willa Holland. “They can’t see our backstage sparring, so of course they want to see what we can do in a real ring. To be honest, so do I. I was happy when this fight got booked and I certainly plan to do my best in it.”

“I’m with Willa,” agreed Emily Bett Rickards, “sparring passes the time, but a real bout shows what you’ve got. I will also admit that since my last management dissolved, I’ve been on my own and could use a fight. Just maybe someone will see me and I’ll get new management at least get someone thinking about it. So it goes without saying that I will be trying to show just how good I am out there.”

The night of the PPV finds Willa in a bright blue bikini with matching gloves and boots. Hair pulled back and tied with a blue ribbon. Emily is in a black bikini but with white gloves and boots. Fighters smiling and look eager to go as they touch gloves after the ref’s instructions and go to their corners. The bell rings…

R1:  Rapid fire exchange as the two fighters clash at midring, but are soon moving around the ring as they punch and look for advantage. Willa going up the middle to strike at Emily’s belly and breasts with some rising hooks. Emily gritting her teeth and concentrating her fire on Willa’s biceps and shoulders. Willa’s body work finally forcing Emily to go to the jab to keep her back. Willa shows good focus as she stays on Emily to the bell and takes the opening round.

R2: Emily and Willa again duel from the outset, with Emily able to return to pounding Willa’s arms, though she shifts some shots to Willa’s chin as the round goes on.  Willa had been going to the body, but when Emily goes to the head, Willa tries to respond in kind. Emily moving her head much better is evading Willa’s punches. Willa slowing down late, those head shots seem to be getting to her, and she finally ends up on the defensive to the bell. Emily Bett Rickards takes her first round.

R3: Willa comes out aggressively this round going back to Emily’s body much of the time. Emily willing to duel with the brunette as long as she gets to pound those upper arms most of the time.  Willa ignoring the attacks on her arms in her zeal to get at Emily and manages to find the blonde’s round with a left and right combination that makes Emily retreat. Willa following gets a taste of Emily’s jabbing which slides over her gloves to strike at Willa’s forehead and between the eyes. Willa ducks down defensively and hooks Emily to the belly. Emily forced back and Willa able to control things enough to win another round.

R4: Emily comes out with determination in her expression surprises Willa with a smashing right/left combination to the head, she then follows up with a thick hook deep into Willa’s belly. Willa gasping for air, stumbles back, jabbing badly in defensive as Emily easily evades these punches and scores to Willa’s chin with repeated shots. Willa clearly in trouble, but her legs are keeping her up. Emily forcing Willa back to the ropes and banging away as Willa gies face in gloves. Willa’s shoulders really getting pounded. Willa finally thinks to clinch to buy herself some time, but Emily is back on right after. Willa’s shoulders and upper arms taking most of the punishment to the bell. Willa unable to do much more than take it and stay on her feet this round so it’s not surprising Emily wins it in a shutout.

R5: Emily’s repeated attacks on Willa’s shoulders and upper arm seem to be bearing fruit as Willa has trouble keeping her aching arms up and worse, her punches are now lacking power. Emily closes in and drives Willa back toward the ropes. Willa’s jab is ineffective and all she think is to dart off to the right and put some distance between herself and Emily. Unfortunately, Emily smoothly cuts off the escape attempt and smashes her way through Willa’s collapsing defenses and crashes punch after punch into Willa’s head. Finally shot is a ripping uppercut that causes Willa to topple backwards like a felled tree. Willa hits the canvas with a crash, she bounces and comes to rest in a starfish position. Referee makes the 10-count but Willa just groaning and trying to raise her head, but no way she is getting up and she doesn’t.

The Winner: Emily Bett Rickards KO5

After: Emily smiles and waves to her fans as she wins a decisive victory over her brunette co-star. Then she goes over to check on Willa who has been revived on her stool and is plainly distressed at the loss. Emily gives Willa some encouraging words and a hug. Nice to see some goodwill between fighters tonight.

“I thought I could wear Willa down and I was right,” Emily says later to the press. “I was just too much for her tonight, but she never quit trying until I put her lights out. What next for me? I honestly don’t know, but I hope more fights—and maybe even a manager will come out of it.”

As for Willa Holland she glumly says: “I thought I was ready for her, but you all see that I wasn’t. Emily is a terrific fighter. Her punching had my arms so numb that I didn’t have a chance once she decided to finish me off. It was a painful loss and I hope I can find something good to come out of it. Right now it just hurts,”

Strong win for Emily. Willa had two good rounds, but she was worn down by Emily’s attrition tactics and then finished off. Emily looked especially good tonight and it is to be hoped her career will benefit from the victory.
