NATALIE PORTMAN VS JESSICA LOWNDES

Before: “Natalie Portman is the Past of the Flyweight Division,” declares Jessica Lowndes. “Sure she’s been flyweight champion 9 times (yes, ( I looked it up), but the years are catching up with her. Why until this tournament she hadn’t even had a fight in 2014. I am surprised she made it this far. Now I’m going to catch up with her and send home to watch the finals on TV.”

Natalie Portman cool and classy but gives Jessica a look like she’s something she’s just found something nasty on her shoe: “How nice to know Jessica can figure out how to look my record. I can look up records too and I find she’s built her career on young, undistinguished fighters Simpson, Gomez, and Kendrick. She just isn’t experienced in fighting the elite of this division. Now she will and I guarantee she is in for a long night.”

“Not that long!” calls out a defiant Jessica. “I’m taking you out early!”

Natalie gives her chilly smile: “We’ll just see about that.”

Frost is still in the air between Jessica and Natalie as they meet in the right on fight night. Jessica is back in her golden bikini with golden gloves and boots. Natalie is in a dark blue bandeau style bikini with black gloves and boots. Both fighters have their hair in single battle braids. When time comes to touch gloves, they slam them together and then turn away after an exchange of cold glares.

R1: Jessica and Nat charge right at each other from the bell and start firing away. Jessica able to stun Natalie early with quick right cross that catches the former champ in the temple. Natalie staggered and a gleeful Jessica swings wildly trying for a first round knockout. Natalie manages to turn her back to take the shots on the shoulders and back. Referee moves in to restore order. Jessica rushes in again, but gets Natalie Portman mouth-wiper to the lips and then a Portman hook in the guts. Jessica steps back, but quickly recovers and goes on the attack, though more cautiously this time. Natalie still seems to be feeling that right and prefers to remain on the defensive and this costs her the round when the points are totaled after the bell.

R2: Jessica eager to pick up where she left off, but Natalie is going after that gut again and she’s moving nicely to evade a lot of Jessica’s best punching. Jessica starting to look frustrated and tries to force her way in close. Natalie backs up, but this is just a way of drawing Jessica into a trap. Lowndes gets her belly ravaged and stumbles back with a dazed look. Natalie follows with more crisp punching and Jessica kept on the defensive the rest of the way to the bell. Rounds ends a clear win for Natalie Portman.

R3: Natalie on Jessica from the opening bell. Jessica seems increasingly confused as Natalie keeps banging her middle once more, but with added attention as her head gets battered as well. The problem for Jessica is that Natalie has ways of attacking that Jessica isn’t expecting and she keeps eating leather from these odd angles. Jessica’s face getting reddened and swollen, but Jessica keeps hanging in close trying get through to Natalie in hopes she can find a way in. Not working this round as Jessica’s punches are blocked or evaded, while Natalie’s counters continue to strike home and Jessica finally has to retreat behind a decent jab. Natalie doesn’t press her luck content to pile up the points to win a second round.

R4: Jessica Lowndes proves stubborn and she surprises Natalie by a quick charge at the opening bell. Natalie takes a digging hook to the belly and then a smashing left to the jaw. Natalie’s head whips around so hard that her battle braid clips Jessica in the face! Jessica recoils which gives Nicole a few extra seconds to recover her senses and be able to engage Jessica when she does try to follow up. Furious exchange of punches mainly to the body. Natalie seems to get a lot of satisfaction working over Jessica’s breasts. Jessica finally has to pull back to give her battered boobs some rest and she shifts to trying to circle around Natalie and look for openings. Natalie much better at this game, but it’s still close until a late flurry knocks Jessica’s head back and a cut opens over her left eye. Jessica forced onto the defensive and Natalie is able to win a close round on the cards.

R5: Battle for control is the story of this round. Both Jessica and Natalie come out swinging . Leather is smacking hard into bodies and jerking head around as they land. Natalie is starting to show some damage, mainly along her chin which Jessica is able to reach, but Natalie is really ravaging Jessica’s midsection and it’s starting to make Jessica’s legs shaky with numbness. Jessica not backing off this time and finally gets more punches on Natalie’s chin and jaw. Natalie’s legs start looking shaky now, but Natalie hunches down behind her gloves and works those Lowndes melons again. Jessica twisting around trying to protect her hooters, takes a solid shot on the left eye and the eyebrow cut opens. Jessica now has to retreat and Natalie is on her but Jessica’s jabs keeps her back. Natalie goes now goers circling around Jessica firing in punches wherever she sees an opening, but Jessica holding up despite the blood trickling down the side of her face. Round goes narrowly to Natalie.

R6: Natalie on the offense as this round opens. Jessica seems cautious, perhaps trying to protect that cut over her eye. Natalie maintains a steady drumbeat of punches that keeps Jessica battling to deflect or evade. Jessica is forced back against the ropes and Natalie in with her left forearm holding Jessica in place, while her right hand pounds Jessica’s body. Referee steps in to stop Natalie and warn her against such tactics. Jessica able to slip away when the fight resumes and oblige Natalie to fight her at midring. Steady exchanges here, but nothing to change Natalie’s winning this round wide.

R7: Natalie continues to dominate through the first two minutes of this round and she works to get Jessica back to the ropes. Jessica’s defense is actually pretty good, but she is still backing up steadily. Suddenly her butt is on the ropes and Natalie tries to use her whole body to press Jessica against the strands, but suddenly Jessica jerks a short right hook into Natalie’s solar plexus. Natalie shudders and freezes. Jessica hooks her again in the solar plexus and Natalie lurches back instinctively wrapping her arms around her midsection. Jessica leaps forward with an all-out sweeping right that crunches off Natalie’s jaw and sends her spinning to the canvas! Crowd is momentarily stunned to see Natalie stretched out on her side, arms and legs thrashing helpless as she tries to recover. Jessica stands over her fallen ex-champ grinning triumphantly until pushed back to her neutral corner by the ref. Then the referee starts his count. Natalie slowly rolls to all fours, panting and then rising as the count reaches. Jessica looks disappointed and tries to go after Natalie when the fight resumes, but time runs out and Jessica has to settle for stealing a round from Natalie with that knockdown.

R8: Jessica and Natalie now back to battling for control as this round opens. They are at center ring and the punches are flying at an impressive rate considering the lateness of the round. Natalie knocking Jessica’s rack back with steady uppercuts and unexpectedly going to Jessica’s waistline to pound pudding there. Jessica grimacing but strikes back by hooking Natalie belly and then getting hooks up into her chin. Natalie steps back, but as Jessica starts to step after her, Natalie fakes left and comes at Jessica with a screaming right—but Jessica ducks under the right and fires an answering right that catches Natalie at the point of the chin. Natalie crumbles as her legs give way and she collapses onto Jessica who pushes her back and retreats to the neutral corner. Natalie lands on her side and rolls on to her back. Her head rolls from side to side and her legs move, but she’s not getting up. Jessica screams in delight as the count reaches “…TEN!”

The Winner: Jessica Lowndes (KO8)

After: “I warned her,” Jessica says cheerfully, “she wasn’t ready to fight me. I admit she was a handful at times. She’s a tricky one, all right, but that last trick didn’t work and I was ready to nail her. Man was shocked when she landed on me. She was really out cold. All I could do was push her away. Now I can concentrate on the finals and winning those belts. I can’t wait to do it!"

Natalie is revived on her stool and sits there quietly. No sign of her HISC teammates Claire Danes or Mish Williams: “I know I was winning that fight, but I was too anxious and I got careless. I won’t fault her punching power—when she lands it right—it was lights out for me. What’s next? Well, next year I intend to be a whole lot busier. I hate to admit it, but Jessica had a point about me being rusty. I won’t let that happen again. I still want the belts back!”

On paper Natalie Portman dominated this fight winning 6 rounds, but in the ring Jessica was able to hang in close and when Natalie made a mistake, she was able to capitalize on it with her knockout punching. So Natalie Portman goes home and Jessica Lowndes heads for the finals!
