Sarah Hyland vs. Kristin Kreuk
(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

Pre-fight, the snark is flying from the former champion. "Yes, I'm working just as hard as I always do for this fight," says Krissy. "That's because I'm a PROFESSIONAL and I act like one. My fans pay good money to see me, and they deserve to see me in top shape. But, if I weren't, well, ME, I'd just half-a** this thing, do just enough to make the weight, and go in and destroy her. She doesn't belong in the ring with me. She's nothing but an opponent and a badly-chosen one at that. Frankly, I'm p*ssed about having to fight her, and I'm going to take that out on someone. Sarah's elected."

"I know she doesn't respect me," says Hyland, barely holding back tears of rage. "It's all she talks about. Well, she doesn't respect me NOW, but she will AFTER the fight,"

ROUND ONE:

If Krissy was trying to get in Sarah's head, well, she did. But, not in a good way. The normally conservative boxing Hyland is nowhere in sight tonight. She leaps out of her corner and goes after a surprised Kruek and not in some kind of sloppy tyro way windmilling punches. No, this is good, sound aggression and a lot of it, with hands high and the head moving, getting all in Krissy's grill and banging away solid shot to both head and body. Kreuk in retreat, wants some space here, but Sarah not giving her any. Hyland taking out the pre-fight frustrations on Krissy's formerly-smug face. Sarah in rhythm, Krissy on the defensive, can't get much going on the counter, can't get space, can't slow Sarah down. At the bell, Kreuk flummoxed, Hyland jubilant and in the lead 10-9.

ROUND TWO:

Kreuk firms up her defenses. She's circling now, spitting out solid jabs, finding the range and slowing Hyland's advances, holding her up at ranges where Kreuk wants her, and then following with flurries that score and force the younger woman to the defensive. Hyland still game, still aggressive, but Kreuk, the slick veteran, now wrong-footing her, getting her out of position and not allowing her to get off. Sarah sticking to her plan, not getting frustrated, but everything that worked in the first isn't working now. Kreuk getting into rhythm, the high-energy, high-volume stuff that makes her so tough to deal with now in evidence. Slowly, Hyland's advances stop and Kreuk begins controlling her with the jab. She's not hurting the younger blonde, but she's touching her up right to the bell and evening the fight at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Sarah showing more movement now. Circling with Krissy, looking to jab with her, then duck forward and work in close. Kreuk going uppercut when Hyland does that, holding her own inside before backing to the ranges she likes and getting back to the jab-and-follow. About halfway through one of those uppercuts ROCKS Hyland, and the younger girl stumbles backward. Kreuk is all over her lack a pack of crazed dogs, winging punches with both hands, driving Sarah into the ropes and savaging her as the younger woman covers up and tries to counter. Kreuk's in her glory now, picking apart a woozy opponent with pinpoint punches, splitting gloves and filling every small opening in Sarah's defenses with sharp leather. Hyland hangs on. She does enough to keep the referee from stopping it. But, when the bell rings, she's a chastened fighter, legs still a bit iffy, face touched up. Krissy? She's smiling an evil smile and leading 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Hyland not working forward now. Wants to jab and circle to get the legs back. Krissy's having none of it. She immediately begins pressuring, forcing the younger woman backward, forcing her to cover up, throwing furry after flurry of sharp stuff and DOWN GOES SARAH! A three-punch combination sends the younger woman sinking to hands and knees. Kreuk, shouting down at her "Stay down!" has to be forced away by the referee. Sarah does not stay down. She's up defiantly at seven.  The referee takes a long look. Thinks about it. Then almost shrugs as he waives Kreuk forward. Cue the hyenas. Kreuk has Hyland hurt and she knows it. And now she's going to finish her. But. Not quickly. Instead, she backs her slowly into the ropes, jabbing, dropping in the occasional right. When she has Sarah where she wants her, covering up, putting the body on sale, Krissy starts buying in massive quantities. She abuses Sarah's midriff and her ribs, thumping leather in again and again. If you weren't cynical, you might say she was trying to bring the guard down. Or, you might say she was hoping she didn't. Again, Hyland hangs on, leaning forward to try to cover up her body only to be sent back upright with more of those nasty uppercuts. A couple of them wobble her knees. The ref looks in, but Hyland's jabbing back, still competing. Much to Krissy's dismay. Kreuk goes back to the body and tenderizes it, then she goes rack in a big way. Sarah brings the elbows in, trying to cover up and Krissy bangs hooks to the sides of her face then goes back to the rack. Hyland screaming into her gloves as she tries to hold on. Kreuk screaming back "Quit!" And the game plan is revealed. Kreuk doesn't want a stoppage, she wants a submission. But, Sarah won't give her one. Instead, she hangs on as Kreuk thumps her belly, ribs, and rack. Finally, a flurry to the chest sends Sarah crumpling to the mat with a scream. Hyland is a pathetic sight, on her side, gloves clawing at her chest, sobbing in pain as Kreuk, that evil Grinch smile widening with each step, walks to a neutral corner. Sarah wants to get up, but it's all too much. Nothing will work. So, she stays on her side as the count passes her by making Kristin the winner by KO4.

AFTER:

Kreuk as dismissive of her opponent in post-fight as she was in pre-fight. "I told you all she didn't belong in there with me. I carried her a few rounds just to get some work in, but, if I'd wanted to, I could have broken her down in the first and left her blubbering on the canvas inside of two minutes. But, again, I'm a professional and my fans paid to see me, so I gave them a show." In answer to a question of "What's next for you" from a reporter, Krissy smiles sweetly. "You know, I like taking on these young brats. Maybe I'll try on the winner of Cyrus/Hudgens. She might last five or six. Who knows?"
