Halle Berry (5'6"; 48 y/o) vs Kelly Rowland (5'8"; 33 y/o)
result:Lookout/words:simgrrl

Before: This fight came out of Cat Bell-Nicola McLean fight in a prior PPV where Rowland got into it in the aftermath of Bell's upset win.

While nobody should ever assume Halle Berry can't win a fight, nobody's putting any money on her tonight. She's in against a woman FIFTEEN YEARS YOUNGER; TALLER, HEAVIER, and in much better condition than the 48 year old Oscar-winner. That seems like far too many advantages in favor of the gorgeous Black singer.

Halle's management (Ginny's Academy) points out Halle's in the ring daily training young bantams. They also boast she's had 64 fights to Rowland's 9! Still, there's no getting around the nagging 15 year age difference – and Berry's at an age where skills can disappear overnight!

Halle in boy-cut white bottom and black nylon sports bra with black trainers and white gloves. Kelly sporting a pink thong bikini, pink shoes and pink gloves.

During R1: Berry on the attack from the git-go, head-hunting, looking to end it early. Rowland rocked in the opening minute, needing time to regroup gets on her bicycle, using those young legs to keep out of trouble. Halle pursuing, throwing bombs from long range as Kelly forced to cover up on defense. Halle the aggressor from bell to bell; punch stats show her landing 30% of her punches to a meager 9% for Kelly. Berry breezes to an early lead as Rowland shows little.

R2: Halle again on the attack from the bell, but Kelly settles down and retreats in good order behind a looping left jab. Berry unable to reach Rowland with the right hand often and Kelly starts to touch Halle with that range-finder left hand, setting up the right – which she can land infrequently until late when Kelly starts to find the range as Berry's punch rate declines. Rowland wins the round close to even the fight after two.

R3: More Halle Berry offense early, throwing everything but her corner stool at Rowland in the opening minute, though not much of consequence connects solid. Midway, Rowland begins to sit down on her punches, pounding several left hooks to the body and one hard right that shakes Halle and forces her to clinch. In close, Berry's veteran wiles serve her well as she thumps Rowland's body with both hands while putting her weight on the younger woman at the ropes. At the bell, Berry mouth-breathing as she trudges to her corner while Kelly's fresh and upbeat. Rowland's round. It's close, but obvious.

R4: For the first round of the fight, it's Kelly on the attack from the bell. Berry slow out of her corner gets pinned on the ropes, forced to clinch up high; giving Rowland easy access to her lush, curvy, aging, body. Kelly doubles Halle over in the second minute with two hard hooks to the belly, then drives her upright with an uppercut that buckles her knees and again, Berry is forced to clinch. Rowland goes to town on Halle's soft mid-section with both hands and there's nothing coming back from Halle! Another uppercut leaves Halle star-fished, spread-eagled flat on her back, her big breasts sloshing around in her sports bra as Kelly Rowland wins by KO4 as Halle Berry runs of of gas!

After: Rowland hair-hauls Berry off her stool and pulls the groggy older woman around by the hair like a dog on a short leash. Good thing someone in her corner didn't hand Kelly a rolled up newspaper because if they had, she'd probably have used it on Halle's bottom to complete the whipped dog scenario!

Completing several circuits of the ring, Kelly then runs to the Academy corner where she sends Halle chestfirst into the turnbuckles with a loud squeal of pain. Halle drops to her knees and then topples back onto her haunches, her head slumped in utter and complete defeat...a sad ending to a beautiful (older) woman's evening in what some think will be her final fight.

Rowland full of herself in the postfight news conference - who can blame her. She's just beaten one of Black Hollywood's legendary bodies into submission. “I got a call already, talking about a Union fight. After that? Who knows? Maybe Beyonce who suddenly is making sounds like she could 'be available' for the right fight. Kerry Washington's out there for the taking, I'm sure. Taraji P. Hensen? Nicole Beharie? there's plenty of opportunities for me now that I've got Halle's pelt!” For a girl getting a late start on her career, Kelly Rowland sounds like she thinks she's on a roll!

Halle, clearly crestfallen, puts her battered face before the cameras, albeit behind dark glasses. “Maybe I could've trained harder,” she admits when pressed about her conditioning. “I train with my girls every day and thought I was ready, but I really got arm weary after three rounds. Maybe I came out too hard at the beginning; should've stayed within myself and forced her to come to me, then countered.”

Asked, “Is this the end for you?” Halle just shrugged. “I dunno. Right now I'm having trouble even thinking straight. We'll look at the video and then I'll make some decisions. At this point in my career, perhaps I should stick to women closer to my own age. I know the fans say they still want to see me in the ring and, long as the money is there, I'm willing. But tonight's not the time to make those decisions.”
