SASHA PIETERSE VS NIKKI REED

Before: “As long as I get to fight another movie actress, I’m happy,” Sasha Pieterse said, “I know how the status game works—movie actresses get more respect than TV actresses. I happen to think that is ridiculous, but it’s the way things are and it does give me the opportunity to make a name for myself by beating one of them. So I am really looking forward to beating Nikki, it will look very nice on my record. Besides, if Nina Dobrev can, beat her, why can’t I?”

Nikki Reed not too pleased to be reminded of her loss to Nina D says sullenly: “I have no idea who this Sasha girl is, except that she is on some minor cable TV network and clearly has gotten more attention than she deserves. Losing to Dobrev was a bitter pill, but I’m not giving up. I’m going back to the ring and this time I am going to win.”

R1: Sasha attacks right from the bell, but Nikki greets her aggression with some strong jabbing that has the younger blonde feeling them in her chest and head. Sasha trying to work her way under Nikki defenses and bring some hooks into the brunette’s belly and chest. Nikki grunts as the punches strike home and tries to circle around the aggressive blonde. Sasha swinging with her. Sasha really working Nikki’s pudding and making her back way. Sasha sees Nikki’s upper guard coming down and loops in some overhand rights and lefts to smash Nikki’s face. Nikki hit in both eyes now retreats to clear her vision. Sasha relentless in pursuit, but Nikki finally bringing her up short with some determined jabbing. Sasha then circles in search of openings and finding most of them in raking Nikki’s flanks. Nikki backpedals out of range and Sasha pursues, not getting any more good shots in to the bell, but wins the opening round wide.

R2: Nikki Reed strikes back! The brunette actress lets Sasha come charging in and then lifts on to her toes with a crunching uppercut into the chin. Sasha floundering away on trembling legs has Nikki blocking her way and working her over at will. The young blonde another shot in the left eye and has her breasts battered, but she does bob and weave as well as keep her gloves up high (most of the time) to protect her chin. Nikki finally goes to the body and Sasha’s middle gets roasting. Finally Sasha manages cool Nikki’s enthusiasm with a quick series of jabs that cut up her face. Sasha then goes to Nikki’s tummy with some payback punching but Nikki comes back with clouting shots that Sasha tries to duck under. The right hand whistles over her head, but the left catches her above the ear. Sasha shudders but keeps her jab going to avoid disaster to the bell, but Nikki Reed has won her first round to even things up.

R3: Both fighters start out cautiously as the round opens, circling and warily exchanging punches that don’t have much effect. Then they surge together and the punch rate rises rapidly as they attack with fury. Sasha and Nikki making all-out efforts and both are getting worked over as defense goes out the window. Nikki getting her jaw and chin worked over as well as her breasts, belly and even her ribs. Sasha’s left is starting to swell and nasty bruises as sprouting on cheeks. Nikki steps back to drive a one-two into Sasha’s face, bloodying her nose and making her pull back in confusion. However, when Nikki tries to hang close, she runs into Sasha’s accurate jabbing, one punch of which opens a bloody cut in her right eyebrow. Blood is reducing Nikki;’s vision while Sasha’s left eye is being reduced by an ugly swelling, so both fighters struggling against reduced vision which slows the action. Still, Nikki able to win her second round once the bell rings to end the carnage.

R4: Both fighters hurting, but not shying away from close-in action. Sasha hitting Nikki to the waist and sides has the brunette tucking in her elbows to protect her flanks as well as hunching up to reduce the available midsection target area, Nikki also jabbing hard, though Sasha is able to turn her body to block most of these punches and then counter to Nikki’s chest. Nikki trying to out-flank Sasha, but the young blonde out maneuvers her gets in front. Sasha bobbing up and down to evade Nikki’s counters while pounding the brunette’s stomach to bring down her guard. When Nikki finally has to protect her ravaged middle, she gets hit hard to the face, reopening that right eyebrow. Nikki has pull back but she manages to bang Sasha to the temples with left and rights to force Sasha back. They are still at it at the bell and the referee has to jump between them. Both unsteady returning to their stools from the heavy punishment they have endured. However it is Sasha who is awarded the round, though it’s a close margin.

R5: Nikki struggling to get back into this fight duels with Sasha in the center of the ring as the round opens. Although the PLP corner crew has tried to repair the damage on Sasha’s swollen eye, it is looking worse after Nikki lands a smashing shot into it. Nikki moves trying to get into Sasha’s blind spot, but the blonde is desperate to prevent this. Sasha lunges in front of Nikki and rams a hook into her stomach with enough force to bring Nikki up on her toes in agony. Then Sasha smashes a spot into that right eyebrow and blood flows down over her right eye, Sasha is in a frenzy as she bombards the dazed Nikki. Nikki not going down, but she’s getting her head knocked around spraying Sasha with sweat mixed with blood. It’s a sight that has ringsiders screaming to stop the fight. Referee then sees Nikki’s gloves sinking uselessly to her waist despite the leather crashing in on her and he leaps in between the fighters. THE FIGHT IS STOPPED. The bloody wreckage of Nikki Reed slumps into the official’s arms. Sasha Pieterse wanders around in a daze until PLP trainer Nia Peeples guides her back to her corner. Told she has won, Sasha bursts into tears from the emotional strain of that final effort.

The Winner: Sasha Pieterse TKO5

After: “I don’t really remember much about that final round,” Sasha Pieterse admits later, holding an ice bag to big swollen area around her left eye. “I just knew I had to take Nikki out before she took me out. You guys know I’m not one to hand out compliments, but Nikki Reed gave me one of my toughest fights ever. I hope she’s all right. She deserves more chances to prove what shge can do.”

“They checked me out, once I got that cut stitched, I was pretty much okay,” Nikki Reed reports later. “I think with a little more luck I could have beaten Sasha. That 5th round could clearly have gone either way until Sasha got to me. I am disappointed to have another loss, but seeing hiw much damage I could do to Sasha has made me realize I have what it takes to win. So yes, I mean to keep trying.”

Back and forth battle that built to bloody, but wise stoppage on the part of the referee. Both fighters hurt the other and it could well have gone either way, but Sasha Pieterse seemed to want it more and prevailed. Sasha’s still not a big name by any means, but she shows real determination to succeed in the Darwinian world of celebrity boxing.
