Former Miss France Laury Thilleman desperately wants to match her compatriot Malika Menard's BBU success but she just can't find as many opportunities as the fellow pageant winner. She fancies her chances against Sayuki Matsumoto though despite the fact the Japanese model is a former divisional champion and has been long touted as one of the heaviest punchers around.
Laury Thilleman wears a floral schemed bikini and red gloves. Sayuki Matsumoto wears a blue bikini and black gloves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Laury tries to pummel her way through to the Asian's chest and swings few uppercuts wide off the mark before Sayuki counters her and scores clear overhands to snap the blonde's head back and set the tone for a subsequent charge. She splits Laury's mitts with ease and digs into her cheeks, starts to hassle the subdued pageant and pierces her jaw with a quick uppercut combo. Laury gets backed into the ropes and can only escape at the last moment as Matsumoto approached her a bit slowly and missed the put away. More hassling follows though and Thilleman just throws punches into mid air as Sayuki swings and tags her on the cheeks repeatedly for remainder of the round.
Round 2:
Another early effort from the blonde goes begging as she can't break the model's guard and falls into a spiking counter; Sayuki switches on the tummy to stagger Thilleman in the middle of the ring before an uppercut follow up bounces off the chin and wobbles her to the side. Laury seeks a ribcage escape and digs into the Asian but gets shoved off and eats another overhand on the left eye, spins back towards the ropes and is chased down across the ring once again. Sayuki measures her shots and looks happy to get some practice here as she refuses to step in on the French girl more aggressively and settles into bruising her cheeks from mid-distance instead.
Round 3:
Thilleman needs a plan B for this fight but does she have one? Right now the answer is "no" as Sayuki whacks her between the high guard and adds more bruising, the blonde tries to break free but looks really slow & heavy on her feet as she gets pummelled back to the ropes on the minute mark where she just covers up and endures a ribcage assault; Matsumoto spreads her range of attack and keeps pumping harpoon jabs into the tummy, makes the French girl moan in pain before an uppercut switch shatters the guard and bounces off the chin again... Laury sags on her knees and gets belted on the navel, tries to clinch but has Sayuki punishing her rack instead and she's lucky the clock expires moments later to save her from a real disaster.
Round 4:
Matsumoto finally ups the tempo - even though Thilleman looked sluggish herself thus far - and swings a jabbing combo on the face to dismantle the blonde's guard... a couple of hooks bounce off the mouth and give Laury a fat lip on the spot before a left handed cross nails her on the nose and SENDS FLAT ON HER BACK... Thilleman collapses in wake of Sayuki's blows adding up and breaking her resilience... she gets up at six and is fortunate to escape a nasal injury but there's a cheeky smile on the model's face who resumes the punishment immediately after the command, she rips Laury's mitts again and tears into her face, batting the head backwards and sending the pageant against the turnbuckle... Thilleman sinks on her knees and offers nothing back as she gets whacked across the mouth before eating another cross hook on the nose... DOWN SHE GOES... Poor French blonde just crumbles in the corner but refuses to give up the fight and scrambles herself up at seven and nods back to the ref she's good to go! Sayuki looks bemused but runs out of time to finish her rival off despite two knockdowns this round and quite frankly Laury's proven quite durable here after taking so much punishment already.
Round 5:
There's no escape from the ineviteable though as Matsumoto tears into the blonde's face seconds into the fifth and bats away at the already bruised cheeks, snaps the head back and roots Laury to the spot. She tries to find that haymaker to punch her out of the ring but Thilleman just won't crumble easily and is eventually dispatched by a hook to the liver that SENDS HER DOWN ON THE KNEES and bending her head against the canvas... forget the count, it's KO5 Sayuki Matsumoto!!!
AFTER: The Japanese power house looks unmoved but Laury annoyed her a little beating a couple of knockdowns in the fourth round. All in all though the pageant blonde served as a solid punching bag for Matsumoto and that's not the way you want to match Malika Menard's stock. Will the Asian mount another challenge for the title next year? She needs to be more active than in the last few months and actually fight some real competition; she ate Thilleman for breakfast but didn't exactly impress many of the division's best!
Final result: Sayuki Matsumoto def. Laury Thilleman KO5.
