Allthough there was talk about immediate rematch for the bantamweight title between Miranda Kerr and Sacha Parkinson, Leah Dizon's rise to the elite of the division as a free agent has turned a lot of heads and now Sacha must beat the Asian-American if she's gonna get another try at the Kerr owned straps anytime soon. Dizon herself had hopes to become the next challenger outright but that's one downsize of being unmanaged, you have to accept all the offers unless you want to fizzle out of any serious contention in a matter of seconds.
The Japanese fighters understandably get the go-ahead on the card so even though Dizon's of Asian origin she has to take the undercard billing while Sacha's simply honored to be a part of the first BBU event outside Europe. And even she didn't believe the Kerr rematch opportunity will happen so quickly, the 22 year old is a seasoned veteran and one of the faces of the franchise according to Denise van Outen. She's taken a lot of abuse from the Australian supermodel before going down in the eight and Dizon's earned herself a reputation of being THE hardest punching bantamweight fighter even ahead of Jessica Schwarz and Alesha Dixon so it will be very curious to see which stance prevails in a too-close-to-call match-up.
Sasha Parkinson wears an orange bikini top, jeans shorts and black gloves. Leah Dizon wears a green bikini top, jeans shorts and silver gloves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Leah blasts out of her stool and looks to take control as quickly as possible but Sacha's a former champion and well prepared for this kind of aggression; she blocks off the high jabbing and wrenches the American around the elbows to reel her backwards and indicate the path towards the title belts will be a rocky one. Sacha with a spirited jabbing series on the ribcage thereafter, just lays into Dizon ignoring her fearsome reputation and dumps her into a cover along the ropes, spikes over the top and splits the mitts bouncing off the cheeks and forcing Leah into clinching her. A brief struggle ensues where Parkinson shoves her rival against the turnbuckle and keeps drilling her guts to run away with the opening round easily.
Round 2:
Dizon's visibly annoyed by that Parkinson opener and tries to beat her for the opening punch but gets nailed on the jaw with a cross hooking counter and bends to the side as the blonde throws a flurry of leather and punches her back to the ropes down the stretch showing superior committement. Leah weaves around on her feet and tries to strike back from behind the guard but skims off the blonde's mitts and eats more leather on the tummy & ribcage as Parkinson switches into drilling her guts again and keeps her trapped for remainder of the round. She signs off with a belting hook on the liver area and Dizon looks in pain for the first time in her BBU career!
Round 3:
Sacha seeks a terminal breakthrough and settles into close range punching of the American's breadbasket again however Dizon strikes back and finally finds some success as she bangs the blonde's navel and uppercuts her breasts thereafter. The heated tangle shows that Leah has no intentions of backing off and wants to seize her opportunity as she spikes Sacha's cleavage and halts her charge. A quick overhand catches Leah on the eye but she responds with a clubbing hook on the mouth and wobbles the actress back before leaping into her path and clattering against the ribcage. Sacha loses her balance and as she tries to deke to the side Dizon flies in with a left handed piledriver on the eye and sends her trembling onto the ropes; Parkinson seeks immediate response but Leah beats her for another hook on the eye and whips her against the ropes. She traps the former champion and drills her stomach, lands more shots on the breasts and is only stopped by the bell as the ref has to drag her away afterwards.
Round 4:
Leah's found some success and made Sacha a bit more careful now however the American's intensity prevails after a sluggish leather exchange to start the fourth round; Dizon with too much precision over the top as she strikes Parkinson's right eye and switches low on the navel to enforce a close range brawl and punch the blonde back to the ropes with a clubbing series on the chest. Sacha realizes she can't shrug the rampant model off and has to stalk her like she did in the opening two rounds but another exchange goes Leah's way who pierces the blonde's arms and bounces off the tits, Brooke Vincent would be dismayed by this actions and Sacha wobbles back on the ropes as Dizon's punches start to add up and remove more air from her lungs. A late hook on the liver area just about finds the target before the bell and Leah's really animated now and has to be dragged away by the ref again as Parkinson's unable to maintain the high tempo on a repeated basis and allows her opponent to set the rules in the ring.
Round 5:
Big punch from Dizon opens the fifth, the American model slips by an overhand approach and clubs the right eye with a brutal hook that snaps Sacha's head back and makes her groan in pain as Leah immediately jumps into follow up action and lands a one-two combo on the exposed chin... Parkinson goes all shimmy shake and wobbles forward as Dizon pierces her arms with a half-uppercut again and finds the jugs... a woeful cry of pain from the ex-champ signals her temporary demise and Leah adds another overhand on the right eye that gets torn into nasty gash but more importantly SENDS PARKINSON DOWN ON HER KNEES... The former Coronation Street actress has shown tremendous resistance against Miranda Kerr but Leah's got even a bigger punch and catches the blonde still nursing that Super Fight defeat inside her head... Sacha beats the count at six but her right eye is really busted up and Dizon's look says it all, she's gonna work that cut until Parkinson gets blinded and there's no respite whatsoever as she tries to pierce the wound into a bloody mess and pounds the blonde back to the ropes where Sacha can only survive the barrage in a desperate high earmuff with Leah blasting her way into a title shot at this rate and sagging the visibly hurt ex-champ on her knees.
Round 6:
Sacha's really concerned about that eye injury which says a lot about Dizon's punching strenght; the American's up early for the sixth and tears into the aching actress from the onset. Parkinson's head snaps back repeatedly now and she gets reeled onto the turnbuckle; a desperate effort to hurt Dizon is blocked and a right/left combo cranks the blonde's head and closes her eyes... Sacha sags on her knees with a loud whimper and Leah finds a heavy uppercut on the jaw to slice her guard AND SEND DOWN ON HER KNEES in the corner... That's strike two for the ex-champion who barely beats the count this time, up at eight but trembling as the Tokyo Dome audience demands immediate destruction of the pretty blonde... Dizon whacks her on the mouth straight after the command and moves onto the eye again, Sacha's arms can't protect her anymore and that's a wrenching display from the American who rocks the blonde's head back & forth and pins her to the turnbuckle again... ref looks to step in any second now but Leah gets the job done herself by slamming more uppercuts on the dazed actresses' jaw and almost breaking it in half... PARKINSON JACK-KNIFES TO THE CANVAS and this time she's out cold. KO6 Leah Dizon!!!
AFTER: The Asian-American made the biggest statement possible that she deserves to have a shot at Miranda Kerr next and could write history by becoming the first ever independent champion in BBU. She simply tore Sacha apart despite the English blonde being rightfully touted as one of the BBU pin-up girls; the recent defeat to the Australian glamour model was probably too much of a mental block for Parkinson who nonetherless accepted the Dizon fight and the pending Kerr rematch. The plans have changed though and Denise van Outen has no second thoughts about Leah's next fight.
The Tokyo Dome arena enjoyed a great opening bout to the Title Fight Night however the atmosphere still increases even further when Haruna Yabuki is announced as the first Front Street Japan member to enter the ring next!
Final result: Leah Dizon def. Sacha Parkinson KO6.
